Have you guys thought of using the following to make it more greener?. Not sure about the costs though. * using Kites as Sails * using printable thin film solar panels on sails to generate more power * using H2/Fuel cells instead of Diesel Generators. * using Vertical Axis Wind Turbines so that it does not cast a shadow on the Solar Panels.
Peter Worsley has developed a automatic wingsail system which would be very suitable. It does not require any crew input except a 3 position lever with "Forward" "Neutral" and reverse. - reverse is as powerful as forward - what other sailing rig can do that! www.windthrusters.com
Dear Kon, yes of course we always keep our eyes open for new solution. Currently our mission is to make boats innovative, comfortable and affordable. When you combine the 3 there are obviously challenges. Solar film we tried but power outcome is very low and it heats up the boat a lot which causes more use of air-condition. H2 is hard to get on marine fuel stations but once the network is there we will be first one to go for it! Kites are nice and we installed them but only makes sense for long passages.
H2 is difficult to store in the kind of volumes that would be needed to be useful on a boat. It's also not green. It's mostly produced by releasing the CO2 from natural gas into the atmosphere. You could use solar to create H2 from water, but it's much more efficient to just store that energy in batteries.
Having a diesel engine adds maintenance, fumes, vibrations and toxic exhaust. One solution is to have wave piercing hulls (catamaran - needs less energy to travel) and be powered by a large array of solar panels, like Silent Yachts, zero maintenance and zero expenses! Or use retractable hydrofoils, that is innovation!
Yes you are right, we love catamarans! Unfortunately our shipyard is in the mountains and we transport the yachts to the coast. Streets there are not wide enough for such transport. Silent does a great job but also they carry normal diesel generators ;)

Imagine an Aquila with Greenline hybrid tech and Sunreef blended solar panels. Sunreef isn’t making smaller cats like Aquila.
what the price all this on you tube but no price
