My old man had a grabber green 1970 boss 302 with all the options, shaker hood, rear Window slats the smaller steering wheel, and it has 24k miles original, even still has the 49 year old bias ply polyglass gt tires, I love that car so much and it’s never gonna leave my family
I believe a more important function of the front air dam was to keep the amount of air flowing under the car down, thus keeping the front of the car from lifting at speed. Ford learned a lot about this from the GT40 program; the early versions were acting like airfoils and threatening to take off!
That is one incredible historic automobile. I remember the Boss 302 from when I was a kid. It was up there with that Charger next door as one of my top 5 loves. That owner is very lucky!! Thnx Joe
Calypso Coral was the name of the color my godfather had two 60s Shelby's, 66 with a 289 and a 68 with a 351. I got a ride in that 68 when I was about 12 years old, and my love for the Mustang was off and running!
I own a 2018 Mustang GT which I very modified performance and cosmetics a I'm a 27 year old man and Mustangs are my absolute absolute favorite cars the old one's like this one the Boss302 or the 1973 Mach1 which was used in my favorite car movie 1974 gone in 60 seconds are epic cars great video by the way man.
Didn't have a Mustang but my first car build was a 68 Galaxy 500 and I put a Boss 302 in her. To this day she was the fastest car I ever owned she would literally fly. Going flat out she would rock up to 140/150 mph before I would be forced to let off. That was the point air under her would start making her loose and start to float. The sound of that engine was only surpassed by one other engine. The Merlin Rolls Royce that was used in the Other Mustang the P51
@@RaitisRides and thank you for sharing yours brings back very fond memories my Galaxy still holds a special place for me I loved that car. To put the port and valve size in perspective... The big block Chevy 427 and 454 have two different heads. The square port and oval port heads. Most people think that for street use the 454 is easier to drive with the oval port heads. The square port heads are too big for the 454. The ports and valve sizes on the B2 are almost identical to the BBC Square port heads, with 150 fewer cubic inches. The best part of the B2 is driving it. It is total junk just putting around but at 3500 RPM it starts to comes alive. Keep it over 4000 and it is magic.
Good presentation I will say I did catch this this particular example has a full shaker hood complete with hood pins my dad bought one of these cars new in 1970 his had the hood pins and it was interesting to watch the hood shake at idle hence the term Shaker Hood very very nice example
I'd also thought I'd put to rest the question whether or not those Hood pins came as a factory option ,...no no no and no you could order it, and have it dealer-installed and it was deemed to be a better option to have the hood pins so that the hood wouldn't fly open at speed and wrap around the windshield because he pre-existing pull handle mechanism often did have problems where it became unlatched suddenly that's why having the additional Hood pins is a very good idea

I Happen to Own the Best of both worlds...1969 Mach 1 with a Very rare D1ZX BOSS 351 Cleveland Backed by a Super Street 5 speed..You can find the Interview on Mustang Connections.
1969 is the car to own - 2 1/4" intake valves, 780cfm ... basically a big motor configuration in a small motor ... and cross-drilled crank. I owned the 15th one made, first day production. It was more focused on its TransAm roots. Not much torque, but when the secondaries opened up, pulled to 7 grand like no other V8.
Thanks for a great review Raiti! My dad had this exact car; I really want to surprise him with this exact Calypso Coral-color mustang. 4-speed hurst shifter....everything. My mind is spinning now.. :)
What's not to like....I'm a sucker for old school speed.....13 second ET"S were the norm in the 70's for factory showroom muscle cars...The drag strips were full of them... Big heavy Beasts...lots of HP.....
If you know who has the money in this country..It's the baby boomers from the 60's and 70's...sell to this group and you have volume...although we do like current speed offerings...but we live in the past
Raiti's Rides old school was all about pure power.american muscle is like a dragon Savage an nothing but pure raw power.to me that is American muscle Ford Chevy Dodge etc
FYI Mr. Raiti, the front "spoiler" is NOT for cooling the engine. It is there to reduce the amount of wind drag by diverting the turbulent air flowing under the car, thereby increasing the speed of the car. Hence the name "spoiler". Also, the " shaker" scoop was never used on the actual Trans-Am racing cars. When Parnelli Jones was piloting these Mustangs, he was road racing NOT drag racing, no need for ram air scoop!
That "orange" color Raiti was talking about is "calypso coral ". Fyi, that front "spoiler" is designed not so much for cooling, but to lessen "air turbulence" under the car to a minimum so that there is less air drag to deal with at high speeds.
Yesss! I like this! Also, you are right Raiti, I have a ‘12 GT and you can just see the original Mustang in every part of the design language. I feel like every year of the Mustang is a love letter to the original. My GT is red as well and I just saw my car the whole time as you were showing this beauty. As always, great vids my friend. Keep it up! This is why I sub. 🙂
Thanks, I just had an interest in this car because of the video game. I was looking around UA-cam for this car. Low an behold you show up with a review of a boss 302. That timing is so cool. Thx 4 the vid. 👍
Is there anything that you don't "Love" about any car? Spoiler is front wasn't for cooling, it was for down force. Trans Am racers didn't use the shaker hood. I owned a 69 Boss 302 new and later in life a 70 Boss 302. Great cars.
I believe it was called a "shaker scoop", not shaker hood. It was the scoop, after all, that did the shaking, not the hood. Just a point. I'm a bit surprised that you didn't comment on the greatly understated horsepower by the manufacturer - Ford rated it at 290 HP. This by the way was common practice by GM and Chrysler too, as a result of both government pressure and the insurance companies, to try to reel in the horsepower wars between makers. I have read actual output was closer to 375 HP. In Trans Am racing trim it was around 430 HP.
Dude I Love This Car. One Day I'd Really Wish To Buy One Of These. But it is very expensive in the country where I live, about 90 thousand dollars. I live in Turkey. It corresponds to approximately 1 million TL. Really hard.
I am so happy that you liked this one. Sometimes it's hard at shows to always track down the owners of these awesome vehicle. If you like classic Mustangs there are more on the way!
Then the motor was used in the cougar....the Eliminator. Drag racing copy Driven by the famous Don Nicolson. For merc...the beginning of the super Stock and funny car era
Oh my God talking about Ford is talking about the great History of automotive, starting with the model T,the great contraband of alcohol , thanking Mr. Henry Ford for his cars so good and fast , the GT40 in Le Mans , American car primet winning nothing more and nothing less than Ferrari , Mr. Henry showed him who he was to Mr. Enzo . And then Carroll Shelby with the 350 and 500 , and let's not talk about the Cammer engine , and the F150 with a lot of History , Oh may God l love Ford cars . In my Coutry Argentina there is much rivalry Ford and Chevrolet from 1937 until now, Ford has much more won Championships , ok my friend greetings and very good video .
@@dougfa3515 That's right , in Argentina we are very fanatical about car racing . In the US they will be 71 years old with NASCAR , and we will be 81 years old with the TC [Road Tourism ] The cars are Ford Falcon , Chevrolet Nova , Dodge GTX and Torino , which for you would be Plymouth GTX and Rambler 440 , these two last redesigned . We go to the races with the flags of each brand , which measure about 30 feet , plus the drums, similar to football but without violence . OK GREETINGS . Keep in mind that in the 1937s it was only Ford, Dodge and Chevrolet Coupe and from 1962 the other cars .
@@fabianmolinari5566 That sounds awesome, Fabian! My dad used to own a Plymouth GTX ( he's more of a MOPAR guy). Very cool! And I'm glad to hear Ford has won more championships!
Geeze Joe. I thought I could throw curve balls. TWO uploads!? My bullet throwing Fountain Pen isn't quite cooled down from the first upload. "Heat" is not my friend. LOL Oh yeah, don't get carried away and start throwing knuckle balls as well. 😍 Okay, have to shoot some bullets now. 1. You mention the Trams Am Series/SCCA and that the Javelin was part of it. Not the AMX? 2. So Ford gets the credit for Shaker Hood, not Mopar? 3. I saw the Hurst shifter. Was this from the factory or from the current owner? 4. The name fits this Mustang, it is certainly "BOSS!" Damn, only four bullets. The Fountain Pen jammed. I guess I gotta let her cool down overnight. Lastly, kudos to the owner. You need to keep track of this Mustang, I'd love to see a more in depth review with it on lift and listen to it. These Mustangs did have a sound onto themselves.
I have to keep you on your feet, I mean your hands Peter! I thought heat would be your best friend since you live in the Arctic Tundra! LOL 1.The Javelin & AMX were both part of it. The factory AMC team were the first to run the AMX. 2. Yes for beat them to the punch, although Dodge is the one that brought the name back when they reintroduced it on the 2014 Dodge Challenger. 3.Yes sir! Hurst from the factory! 4.That is so true! I am going to rack him down at the next event and also try to bring more Muscle Cars to the channel! You better be on your toes, I mean fingers! Until we write again!
LOL. Ohhh, the agony of da feet, I mean da fingers! lol I do live in, or I should say, on the Tundra, but once the permafrost sets in, I'm dead in the water, or more to the point, frozen in time. :-) But unlike years past, pre-Raiti's Rides, at least now I have warm hands with my glowing hot pen. LOL Thanks for Shaker Hood history. I always thought it was synonymous with Mopar, but as I look back, I didn't have too many friends with Fords, they were mostly Chevy and Mopar guys. I am aware the new Challenger brought it back and technically the new ZR1 jumped in, or should I say, shook themselves in with it as well. FYI that's ZR1, like in CORVVETTE! Even you Ford guys must remember the CORVETTE. Keep Dance'n with Rides. I'll be Dance'n With Bears, POLAR BEARS that is.
This is an acquired taste, but the history behind the car is amazing. I appreciate this car heaps more. PS: tell us a little more about Tom and your crew. We want to know who's part of the "family"?
I have mixed feelings about muscle cars from that era. Modern muscle has made old muscle cars obsolete in nearly every category. If it wasn't for the ease of repair and timeless styling, this era would be forgotten. Hopefully kids growing up in the age of Teslas, ZR1s, and Hellcats will continue to cherish our heritage.
My dad has one of these rotting (sorta) in our backyard in NC. Engine is still great, body is meh, and interior is shit. He’s done some work on it but I’m not into cars so I couldn’t say. But he’s had quadruple bypass. He needs to sell!!
Raiti's Rides Sure is. I mean it has two heavy duty covers on it but it’s not in a garage and it’s not cranked up as much as it should be. He’s just not healthy enough to finish it on his own, wish he’d sell it to someone who could.
I had 68 Mustang with the 289 ci cobra jet engine . the boss 302 years came out later it really didn’t make much difference as far as power I,used to beat the boss 302‘s all the time!

Raiti's Rides of course who wouldn't ,I think alot of people forget about these old cars .keep rocking it man
That is a very good points!
Raiti's Rides old school was all about pure power.american muscle is like a dragon Savage an nothing but pure raw power.to me that is American muscle Ford Chevy Dodge etc
I really miss those days!
Now you are cooking with 🔥
Wow that is a beast of a car
I am so glad that you liked this one! It is one of my favorites!
Raiti's Rides There was a pair for sale out my way a few years back. One red, one blue. Ohhhh I wanted that blue one so bad.
Oh wow! A PAIR!!!
Timeless beauty
Thank you so much for the compliments and being part of the Raiti's Rides family! I really appreciate you sharing your input!
Two thumbs up Joe! Love those mustangs.
Thanks Paul! I am so glad that you liked this one! I will have more to come!
Best Mustang of all time, great review keep up showing these types of cars
I am so glad that you like these types of cars! I will be bringing more!
My favorite car racing game has a boss 302, and I love it. ‘Murica!!!!!
I am so glad that you liked this one!
Thanks, I just had an interest in this car because of the video game. I was looking around UA-cam for this car. Low an behold you show up with a review of a boss 302. That timing is so cool. Thx 4 the vid. 👍
Front spoiler does not shove air into the radiator, its mounted in front of the radiator. Its meant to put down force on the front end.
I love that car man,Keep up the good work man
Now that is a great Ride!! Brings back memories .Tell me you doing that Dodge charger next right 🐬🐬
I am so glad that you liked this one! I will have it coming soon so stay tuned!
Love it man!
I am so glad that I have the opportunity to share it with you!
Love that 70 boss mustang
Is there anything that you don't "Love" about any car? Spoiler is front wasn't for cooling, it was for down force. Trans Am racers didn't use the shaker hood. I owned a 69 Boss 302 new and later in life a 70 Boss 302. Great cars.
I actually love all cars! That is why I love sharing my passion. With all of you that I love. Thanks for watching!
I want a 1969 or 70 Mustang Boss 302 but I can't afford one 😭
I know how you feel!
your the man Raiti.
Are you a muscle car kind of guy?
@@RaitisRides ya I like muscle cars..
Good to know that I have more to come!
It's the ultimate classic Mustang... at least in my opinion. '69 and '70 was a great body style/
I totally agree with you!
Your lucky just standing beside one of the most legendary cars in automotive history
I totally agree with you! The best part was the owner actually drives this car!
Raiti's Rides I thought he let you drive the car
This was at a car show that was packed so even if he would let me the car wasn't moving for a while because of the amount of people and cars.
I wish! I need to track one of these down to drive!
super nice !
I am so glad that you liked this one!
Love your videos, my friend. I hope you'll find a '71 Boss or '73 Mach 1 to review, in your travels. Cheers!
What a beauty 💕😍
This one was extra hot! I know you love these classics!
Dude I Love This Car. One Day I'd Really Wish To Buy One Of These. But it is very expensive in the country where I live, about 90 thousand dollars. I live in Turkey. It corresponds to approximately 1 million TL. Really hard.
Wow very nice, next time can you at least start the engine? I wanna hear the sound. Thanks for show us the BOSS 302!
I am so happy that you liked this one. Sometimes it's hard at shows to always track down the owners of these awesome vehicle. If you like classic Mustangs there are more on the way!
*_I llllooooveee this_* [insert car design component here]
This brought a smile to my face! Thank you so much for watching!
Then the motor was used in the cougar....the Eliminator. Drag racing copy Driven by the famous Don Nicolson. For merc...the beginning of the super Stock and funny car era
That was such a wonderful time back then!
That's my dream cars
Can't believe you didn't even show us that Chevelle.
If you like muscle cars I will bring more! I am trying to test the waters and see what people are interested in. Anything else in particular you like?
@@RaitisRides 01or02 trans am ws6. Or any muscle car from the 60s-70 would be appreciated.
Okay sir, I will try to track some down for you! Stay tuned!
Great video. I love the connection between the old and new mustang.
Does Tom have a UA-cam channel for powerlifting?
Hey Alec! I am so glad that you liked this one. Tom does not because he is so busy with college, working and working out!
That car is pretty that’s My 3rd dream car 1st is the charger
I am so glad that I can share it with you!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing the enthusiasm for these great cars!
Now that's a Ford fan! Glad to hear Argentina shares the Ford enthusiasm!
@@dougfa3515 That's right , in Argentina we are very fanatical about car racing .
In the US they will be 71 years old with NASCAR , and we will be 81 years old with the TC [Road Tourism ]
The cars are Ford Falcon , Chevrolet Nova , Dodge GTX and Torino , which for you would be Plymouth GTX and Rambler 440 , these two last redesigned .
You got that right!
Geeze Joe. I thought I could throw curve balls. TWO uploads!? My bullet throwing Fountain Pen isn't quite cooled down from the first upload. "Heat" is not my friend. LOL Oh yeah, don't get carried away and start throwing knuckle balls as well. 😍
Okay, have to shoot some bullets now.
1. You mention the Trams Am Series/SCCA and that the Javelin was part of it. Not the AMX?
2. So Ford gets the credit for Shaker Hood, not Mopar?
3. I saw the Hurst shifter. Was this from the factory or from the current owner?
4. The name fits this Mustang, it is certainly "BOSS!"
Damn, only four bullets.
LOL
1.The Javelin & AMX were both part of it.
LOL
Thanks for Shaker Hood history.
I think why everyone associates shaker hood with MOPAR is because they used it the most compared to Ford or Chevy.
Great video! What do you think of my build?
My dad gave $3800 for his 70 Boss 302. It was the only car he ever regretted having sold.
NICE COV....ARE THE STRIPES ON THE HOOD PAINTED?
No they are a decal just like on the new GT350.
This is an acquired taste, but the history behind the car is amazing. I appreciate this car heaps more. PS: tell us a little more about Tom and your crew. We want to know who's part of the "family"?
I am going to put some of this stuff together this week! :-) . Thank you for letting me share this Mustang with you!
@@RaitisRides Don't forget my shout out now, you hear? ;-P
@@DungarooTV it's coming brother! I have it planned don't you worry!
@@RaitisRides I cannot wait to meet other members of the Raiti's Rides clique!
That really mean so much brother!
I Have A Question? What's More Valuable? The 1970 Boss 302 4 Valve With 290 Horsepower? Or The 1970 Mach 1 351 Cleveland 4 Valve 300 Horsepower ?
The 302 w/ 290!
got one
You are a lucky man Peter!
Affordable,.....you weren't around back then. You could buy 2 Ford Mavericks for what a fully optioned Boss 302 cost. ($2,000 vs. $4,000)
Joe doing 2/day. Doubled in subs from just 3 mo ago!
Thank you for noticing that I am grinding! I appreciate your support and can't do it without you!
It’s called the “Hockey Stick” stripe.
Yes you are 100% correct!
American Muscle!
I am so glad that you liked this one!
my dream car..too bad i'm broke
Pay the cost to be the BOSS..
You got that right!
What the Mopar 318 polysphere could have turned into if it wasn't foolishly discontinued by Chrysler.
I totally agree with you! You have to now where we came from to know where we are going!
No amount of modern technology can replace the raw analog experience of an antique car. There is no comparison.
TOTALLY AGREE! I can't say it any better!
I have a model of this car in yellow lol
Very cool!
I think gingers are gorgeous
The best model Mustang Mach I .¿What Prize?.........👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My dad has one of these rotting (sorta) in our backyard in NC. Engine is still great, body is meh, and interior is shit. He’s done some work on it but I’m not into cars so I couldn’t say. But he’s had quadruple bypass. He needs to sell!!
That is a shame that it is rotting away!
Raiti's Rides Sure is. I mean it has two heavy duty covers on it but it’s not in a garage and it’s not cranked up as much as it should be. He’s just not healthy enough to finish it on his own, wish he’d sell it to someone who could.
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's health!
428 Cobra Jet. Boss 429.
😮😍
I am so glad that you liked this one! Thank you so much for watching!
Someone selling a 1970 ford Mustang project car on eBay for $1675 to bad I don’t live in Massachusetts😔😔😔
That sounds like a BIG project!
Raiti's Rides a project you can handle I’m sure
The chin spoiler or "front air dam" as you call it is for increasing downforce , any other benefit is coincidental !
400HP? 5.0L?
Yes sir, these engines were under rated!
Is the 007 car?
No that is a 1971.
I had 68 Mustang with the 289 ci cobra jet engine . the boss 302 years came out later it really didn’t make much difference as far as power I,used to beat the boss 302‘s all the time!
That is really cool that you had a classic 1968 Mustang! Do you ever miss it?
Javelin ? No ! AMX Was the high performance model
The factory AMC boys ran the AMX, but there were also privateers who ran the Javelin. It was such a golden era for road racing in the USA.
400??
That was the actual HP#s. These cars were underrated by Ford.

LOL
They were actually so good that the Camaros only one (For one year) by cheating.
They acid dipped bodies to make them lighter.
That is so very true! Roger Penske and Mark Donahue Sunoco Camaros!

Yes indeed John!
I had to stop watching. My guy , do a little research before you just start speaking on a car you clearly know nothing about. All of these friggin people on youtube trying to turna dime and they dont care of whats coming out of their mouth is accurate or not.... Annoying doesnt describe it....
