Engraving in Cimatron is the easiest (quickest) that I have ever seen. Here is what you do: Use "Surface Milling" as the main procedure type and "Open Contour" as the sub selection. Place all the wireframe to be engraved on to a set. Place (only) the surface(s) that the engraving takes place on another set. Then select the curves by set and the surfaces by set. In motion parameters be sure to change the passes to incremental Z. Then you can specify 10 passes at 0.0015" or whatever you like. Save this as a procedure template. Next time you need to engrave, you only have to organize the two sets and apply the template. Large paragraphs of text are chained automatically.

If the text isn't selected automatically and perfectly, there are two solutions: The tolerance is not good for the size of the letters. Change the tolerance. Number 2 is that I have seen it work best when the wireframe is merged into one entity, like it is when creating the text in Cimatron design. Imported data may need to be merged together for best results.

How do the engraving? I normally make a bunch of 2x open contours directly on the text. I don't feel this is correct. I know there must be a better way.
