Maybe some of you are too young to remember terms like "Groovy" and "Digging it". I'm a proud product of the late 60s and 70s and remember them well. My father was actually an AM radio announcer by trade back then and us children were exposed to all of the cool bands and music through him. The Yardbirds, Steppenwolf, Cream, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds and many more are still with me and my siblings to this day. Th Grip Weeds are definitely groovy, cool and worth digging. Side Note: Lead singer for Grip Weeds Kurt Reil has partnered with Jim Babjak of the Smithereens on several occasions and they've produced some really good stuff together. Their latest and best effort is a song they released a couple years ago called "Katie's Shoes", which has that late 60s/early 70s "groovy" feel to it. Just do a Google search and listen. I'm confident that you'll like it!
This tune has left its imprint on my mind ever since I first heard the original by Max Frost and The Troopers in early 1968. Thank you, Billy Bass (WMMS -- Cleveland, OH). Thanks a million, Grip Weeds. Thanks, Little Steven's Underground Garage.
One of the coolest renditions ever of this classic psychedelic tune ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤.....great band indeed ❤❤❤
Great cover of a great song. Thanks for posting this!
Awesome !!!
Thr Grip Weeds are absolutely the best band out of New Jersey in the last 30 years!
❤❤❤❤🎉😊😊😊
Very authentic retro feel (& performance) for this classics 60's Yardbirds tune! The Grip Weeds have figured out how to lay it down (& give this track the honor it deserves).. Excellent!
Not a Yardbirds song but still great!
The last of the greatest ( mod 2:02 psichedelic beat? ) bands in the universe
I love this cover! Great job guys!
Much love from South Jersey!!! 💀✌
Luv!!
WOW!! Very cool cover of the original song from WILD in the Streets movie. Excellent instruments and vocals.
Yep! The Rickenbacker guitars and the girl playing the Gibson combined with the other instruments and vocals just kick ass. This is the kind of music I grew up with, love and cherish. It makes me want to put on my bellbottoms, blossomed sleeve shirt, Earth Shoes, silver necklace and bracelet and Pachulia Oil, hit the old bong pipe and just live in the moment...again...just one more time.
Awesome cover!! When is the next gig in Philly/South Jersey? We want to hear Astral Man live…..
Your band has a very cool vibe. Any plans to play in philly by chance? I play guitar in a band called Kiss Boom Bah. Perhaps we can play a show together sometime.
This isn't a yardbirds song.
Isnt it Max Frost and the Troopers?
"Shapes of Things" was by The Yardbirds. "The Shape of Things to Come" was by Max Frost and The Troopers.
Good observation and you are correct about "Shape of Things to Come". Max Frost rocked and had a very fitting voice for that era.
