Every admin and parent should have to watch these to see how much of your time (plus hubby and mom) and money is lovingly spent getting ready to welcome the students!
Congratulations! Your room is so very welcoming! Just a thought- it might be easy for kids to gather their items from their bins if it wasn’t all in one location. You aren’t using the other side for very much. It may help with the flow to have it split. Just a suggestion. ❤
Thank you for letting us watch as you get ready for this school year. Your enthusiasm and clear love of what you do is so motivating. I can’t wait to watch as the school year unfolds. Thanks for all you do and enjoy your vacations!
I know this is an older post and you probably already got your teacher chair, but I wanted to share anyway... my favorite chair of my entire career is a rainbow bungee chair. I got mine at Container Store on sale at the time. It's great!!
Looks great! I’m teaching Grade 1 this year as well, it’s my 27th year teaching. I’m teaching in China atm though. Isn’t it funny how us teachers love stationary and classroom supplies sooooo much 😅 Gotta love expo markers!
Setting up the classroom is very exciting and exhausting, but it gives you a good feeling after the job is completed-right? It looks awesome Susan.Thank you for your inspiration:)
Loved the video! Your room is so bright, cheery, and organized. Just wanted to point out, in case you didn't notice, you have the same yellow/orange bin switch over your coat hooks as well. I only point it out because I know it would drive me nuts as well. Wishing you a great school year and a smooth transition back to the classroom.
Your room is amazing! What a wonderful place for children to be in all day! I’m envious of your big room and windows! You are inspiring. I wish you a blessed school year. 😊
I love those too! They’re from Really Good Stuff, here’s the link: www.reallygoodstuff.com/group-colors-for-6-picture-book-bins-with-dividers-6-bins/p/165160/ I have the chapter book ones too which are narrower!
Looks great! What about moving the white cabinet to behind your small group table so the bulletin board won't be covered? The shelf is shorter, so less wall area will be covered.
Love your room! Hope it was a great first two days. I love the classroom jobs. I was curious to know how your students get jobs. Do they pick? Do you just rotate names through? Looking for a better more efficient way of having classroom helpers.
Love the video. Question where did you get your bins for the chapter books the one with the dividers. Happy 10th Anniversary. 🎉 We just celebrated 20yrs. Enjoy your vacations.
Love your "make shift bulletin boards" made with "crayon pictured" wrapping paper! Curious, how do you attach it to the wall so that it is secure despite the humidity/etc. I find things often fall off... especially for your job board if you are pulling the velcro names on/off. Would love more details. Thanks. Great job and congrats on doing your classroom!
Your room looks wonderful!! Your students are lucky to have you as their teacher! I noticed you shared the job charts but when I clicked on it I only received the picture of them. Any chance you could reshare the link?
What are those things you stuck to the desks for their name tags? Where did you get them from? Also, the task cards. Did you make those? I have been toying with the idea of starting a "morning task" this year in place of morning work. I am hoping it would be more engaging.
The desk name tag holders are from Lakeshore! These are them here: www.lakeshorelearning.com/products/teaching-resources/nameplates-name-tags/self-adhesive-nameplate-sleeves-setof12/p/FF685 And for the task cards, yes! I currently have two bundles being made - one for phonics skills and another for math skills! Here they are: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Phonics-Task-Cards-for-First-Grade-The-BUNDLE-growing-9923691 www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/First-Grade-Math-Task-Cards-The-BUNDLE-growing-9923616
Hi Susan! HUGE Congratulations on returning to the classroom!! And Happy Anniversary!! Enjoy your getaway with your hubby! Blessings on your marriage! Where can I find the Classroom Jobs? I like how you set them up & your display. 👍🏼. Perfect for their height.
Hi Susan, Congrats on setting up your classroom! I love it and got great ideas. Would you share the link for the classroom helper, please? Those are fun! Thanks for sharing your passion :-)
It looks amazing! Thanks so much for sharing your set-up😊 Just wondering what size your rainbow book bins are that hold your mentor texts up on the shelves? Are they also from Lakeshore learning? Thanks again for everything you do 💞
They are from Really Good Stuff! These are the ones right here: www.reallygoodstuff.com/group-colors-for-6-picture-book-bins-with-dividers-6-bins/p/165160/
I will not have a word wall and I don’t have too much space for a sound wall yet, so I think my bulletin board space for phonics will be the sounds we are learning currently and we will continue to add to it throughout the year!
That is from Really Good Stuff! This is it here: www.reallygoodstuff.com/black-6-slot-mail-and-supplies-center-with-6-trays-6-cubbies-and-6-bins-grouping/p/167279/
My district has a policy where only 20% of any wall can be covered with paper/decor/posters. It makes me sad. Bulletin boards have to be left plain (not covered in a fancy paper since that contributes to the 20% rule).
Those are from really good stuff and they hold all student papers and folders! At the beginning of the day they put their folders there and all the papers they complete throughout the day go there, and at the end of the day they will fill their folder and take it home with them.
Will we be privy to see you model some lessons right from your classroom this year? I know you can’t show student’s faces, but maybe you could give some real lesson learning. By the way, I wish I had people help me set up for my first grade with 38 students on the roster! We can’t get in our building until our Organization Day, August 28! Students start September 5.
I love your elephant and piggy pictures on your reading wall! Did you draw them yourself? I have the mouse from the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and I made the coconut tree from "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" for my library wall. I'm thinking about making more characters to make it more appealing, like you. I have also got some different storage ideas from this video. Your classroom looks amazing!
I am going into my 28th or 29th year of teaching….I can’t keep track anymore 😂😂. I am in my 15th year teaching grade 2. I also teach in Massachusetts about an hour south of Boston.
A good mix of things! Some of the items I already had in my home, and since my boys are now older, I was able to bring them into my classroom. Some things I purchased on my own and will remain my property. And many things for student consumption I was able to purchase through a School budget and I will get reimbursed!
@@bravorinaclemetson4877 ugh, I’m sorry! It’s really hard - every district here does things slightly differently, but it’s hard when so much of it has to come from teachers’ pockets!

Great job Susan! So jealous...wish I had only 18 kids in my room.. I'm currently at 27 but could go up to 28.
That easel is my favorite

Can you recommend the task cards you used. Thank you❤

Did you have your book bins labeled and in any special organized way?

Hi there! Where is you white book shelf from that you put the read alouds on?
Hi! Where did you get your small group organizer (timestamp 10:58)?
Where do they keep their backpacks and lunch boxes?
They have a spot in the hallway for that!
Susan, in the book corner, where did the divided tubs come from? I have never seen those!
Those are from Really Good Stuff! I like the dividers a lot!
May I know where did you purchase the Math Stackers from?
Cute set up… you seem very efficient! Just to note; Dav Pilkey pronounces his name “Dave”. Have a great school year!
Omg how did I never know that!!! Thanks for the heads up lol

Oh fun!! I love “meeting” other teachers from MA! Enjoy the rest of your summer :)
Where did you get the nametag slips?
Where is your calendar, days of the week, and classroom rules?
I will be doing a digital calendar this year on the smart board! And our classroom rules are made together the first week of school!
@@SusanJonesTeachingHow do you do this ( the community rule talk) effectively?!
How did you acquire all that material?

Where is back to school book’s bookshelf from?
That is an old display shelf from Crate and Kids - we used to use it in our kids’ playroom
❤
Well I knew you weren’t in Florida or Texas
