I love these old shows. Love the cars. They bring back memories as they were all around me when I was a kid in the mid-fifties. Surprised to see Daniel Boone in this episode too. Fess Parker was a true American and conservative.
These original black and whites from the '50s have some real funny exchanges in each show, and they are long sequences. As if a good part of it was the humorous patter between Friday and Smith. It's like being home again watching them.
Friday so smooth and relax and sexy. Love me some dragnet columbo old shows are really really good funny after you realize some of the stunts they do or not as real as we thought they were when we were younger. The backgrounds of fake on some of them is funny just funny I'm almost 70 and still watching dragnet. But I don't believe thanks for not killing them off so that we couldn't see him anymore it's a great pleasure watching old shows just for relaxation and memories thanks again for continuing our memories of the old days shows as
'Badge 714' was the syndicated version of Dragnet. Their were edits and shortened credits to allow another 60 second commercial. It didn't do well and this print is pretty unusual.

I was expecting Rod Serling to close the episode after he started talking about the school yard, got very twilight zone, even Joe couldn't come up with a speech and a nod
@ScoutSniper3124 Good catch, I knew he looked familar but its been a very long time since I've seen one of his shows or Old Old Yeller. Now that I think of it I belive he was in the movie "Them".
Fess Parker (Uniform officer start of the show), said in interview, he was told to kneel down during the scene. He was tall, maybe 6'5". Would have towered over Webb. Vanity on Webb's part? Who knows?
Oh my, Joe was so young. LA looks young too. Even in the late 70s, it was so crowded, and awful. There was so much traffic, all day, it was terrible. I was only there, for about 7 or 8 days, helping my sister in law relocate. I never went back. I may have hated DC, but at least the traffic cleared, after rush hour. I love the automobiles of this era, and it's the only reason I might like color. His "answer" is easy. Choose to do what God pushes you to do. Start with prayer. That is the beginning of a relationship with God. it's easy, from there.

That was a profound statement at the end. Some of these episodes are heavyweights. Thanks for the upload.

Yes, back when conservative meant love of country, wise spending, and opposing Russia.
Good man.
Fess is such a good looking man. Boy did my 8 year old self have a massive crush on him in the 60s! ❤️🔥

In the radio version (recorded in 1951), he was 34. :)

Disappointed that they didn't list the cast at the end. Oftentimes you'll see someone who became more well known later on.

Imdb is a great source on if you see someone familiar if they were in an uncredited role, it's not always definitive.

For a minute there I thought he was going to try and defenestrate himself.
When Daniel Boone says it's a Homicide, it's a friggin' Homicide.
Daniel Boone (Fess Parker)as a Policeman.
Yes !! Nice ,!!❤
Fess Parker aka Davy Crockett.

I'm surprised the old man didn't die of shock from that god-awful wallpaper.
Adapted from an August 16, 1951 radio episode.
Friday is 33! Looks 43! Must be those 2 packs a day Chesterfields.
They aren't called "coffin nails" for nothing.

@@starguy2718 Yup! My late father died from lung cancer on July 7, 1988 at 50 due to smoking.
I’m sure smoking didn’t help, but those old black and white TV shows had the tendency to make the actors look older than they were.
Fess Parker - Danial Boone :)
He was "Davy Crockett" in six episodes of "DISNEYLAND" a decade before he was "Daniel Boone".
Fess Parker as a Cop 😊 didn't expect that.
If you want to see a different Jack Webb, check out Sunset Boulevard. He’s a hyper party animal! Made right around this time.

you can see them reading the lines. eyes going left to right
The Big Winchester. And then after that the Big Oasis, the Big Chesterfield, the Big Marlborough, the Big Pall Mall. Lighting up whole packs.
At beginning of episode you see lots of new babies and policeman Friday says everyone starts out with the same chance in life this idont believe 😊😊😊

$150 per month "mortgage income", and he was "very comfortable". Jeez, talk about the good old days😕
My father was a barber back in the early 1950's. If he made $40 a week he was doing pretty good. A new car back then was about $1,000.
Badge # 714 - Babe Ruth home run record
He looks 50 to me 😅
