If the Excel files are identical (the variables are the same but different data) then you can import each and combine them Data -> Merge Files -> Add cases.
Check the data in Excel to assure they are on Sheet 1 and properly formatted. Save as a .xlsx file. Open in SPSS using File > Import Data > Excel, then follow the prompts in SPSS. Good luck!
I have not checked this by doing it, but I recall creating a new blank variable in SPSS, then copy-and-paste from Excel into the blank column in Data View. Good luck.
Usually when that happens, SPSS is looking for .sav (SPSS) feels by default. If so, you can change "Files of Type" to ".xlsx" and the Excel file will show up and can be opened. Good luck
When you "changed" it, did you save the dataset as something? I recommend saving your data as a .xlsx, first. That can be opened in SPSS or can be saved again as a .txt or .csv. If you data have been saved in .xlsx, they should be in the original file. If they do not show up in SPSS and you know that you did not have an import error, try saving the SPSS file, closing it, and reopening. The data should show up there. Good luck.
Wow...that is a new one. With nothing else to go on I would suggest: save the .xlsx file to your local desktop (even if you are using a school computer), close Excel, try opening with SPSS. If you have the data, you may also try a Save As... in Excel in case there is something weird with the data between the versions you are using. Good luck.
How do I solve a problem when there is error accessing the excel file. I have tried all the possible way I can but I was not able to solve it...please help🥲🙏
My strategy when I have trouble with Excel files is to Save As.. the data into a CSV. That typically works. Also, make sure that your data are arranged in rows and columns and that you do not have any merged cells in Excel. That can throw an error, too. Good luck
When that happens. I have always had good luck by just quitting Excel and putting the file that I want to open on the Desktop. That seems to solve it. Best.

hi thank you so much, but what if i want to add data but from multiple different excel files?
If the Excel files are identical (the variables are the same but different data) then you can import each and combine them Data -> Merge Files -> Add cases.
Thank you that is great!
Thank you!
What i dont understand is why the value column in the variable view disappears after we import data in the data view.
Hi help me why my data "all sheets in excel file appears to be empty spss" ?
Check the data in Excel to assure they are on Sheet 1 and properly formatted. Save as a .xlsx file. Open in SPSS using File > Import Data > Excel, then follow the prompts in SPSS. Good luck!
How do i copy paste a data from another excel into existing spss database? Like if I’d like to input a whole row of new variable data
I have not checked this by doing it, but I recall creating a new blank variable in SPSS, then copy-and-paste from Excel into the blank column in Data View. Good luck.
My data is in xlsx format...saved on desktop..tried to open it in spss but did not show.....what can I do?

Hi sir I need ur help
How to run a simple analysis in spss data and export the output in word file. You mentioned but I couldn't find the video.
I think that this video might answer your question about exporting to Word: ua-cam.com/video/079_gScRy9Y/v-deo.html
i had changed it to excel file, but still I cant find my data!!!! what should I do please?

Hi. I am using google form to collect data. As this application also can generate excel sprredsheet, can i use this file for spss?
Yes you can
Yes, you can...just export your finished data set as an Excel (or CSV) to you computer Desktop and go from there.
Mine isn't working although following every instruction exactly.
This is an earlier version of SPSS. In newer versions, try using File > Import Data > Excel.
text value unmappable in the current server locale, can i get some help with this? its what spss tells me when im trying to open the excel file
