I am on blood thinners and you CAN consume leafy greens you just have to do it fairly consistently so your dosage of Coumadin (not “Coumatin” as Dr. Berg mispronounces it) can be adjusted to produce a therapeutic result. Also while Eliquis (and Xeralto et al) have many advantages as a blood thinner (including not being affected by vitamin K) they are very expensive costing $15 to $20 per day compared to penny’s for Coumadin.

This video is so timely and helpful for me. I had very recently asked a question along these very lines regarding another of your videos, so was very happy to see this one along with the included link to the video with the list of acceptable vegetables to consume while on Coumadin (warfarin) therapy. Thank you very much, Dr. Berg!

I am taking Coumadin/ warfarin due to a mechanical aortic valve. There are no other options yet for people with mechanical heart valves. I eat a large salad everyday day of mixed greens and romaine lettuce. All the research now is showing that consistency not abstinence of foods high in vitamin k1 such as salad greens, broccoli, kale etc. Is better for people on this medication. I find it actually helps keep my INR stable as long as I am consistent. I also supplement with vitamin k2 that doesn’t seem to have an effect on my INR.

    • @pohkeee

I remember they told my mother that too...you just have to be very consistent so meds can be adjusted and stable....

Very little people can convert K1 in k2 so it’s not really true that if you consume spinach you can make vitamin k2 which usually you can see in the fatty products and meats

  • @inthedark334

Yes, the body stores small amounts of vitamin K1 in the liver for future use. However, vitamin K1 is metabolized and excreted quickly, so it's important to get vitamin K regularly through your diet

Do you have any video about this conduction that happens during pregnancy?

I might consider cooking some of those greens instead of juicing them raw every day. WHY?....Because too much of the raw greens can actually throw your thyroid for a loop....and put you into hypo-thyroidism. The reason I even know about that is coz I got a notification about it on Flip-board a couple days ago. A lady runner told about how she'd been drinking the green smoothies daily, and what a shock it was when her internist notified her about her latest lab results. I'll try and find the article but you can just probably Google for it. Anyways, long story short, ..her doctor told her it was the raw veggies that she was blending up and drinking every day that was causing her hypo-thyroid condition. (Of course, everybody is different and it might not affect you at all!!)

Then again everything my Dr.'s told never help my Diabetes like keto did. My A1C is down from 10.5 to 6.1 in nine month, off both of my insulin's and I have cut my metformin in half. Some if not most Dr.'s are stuck believing the dogma that they were taught and are not open to new ideas. That's very sad and harmful to there patients but sure big pharma.

Tested myself with the urine strips and got into the moderate level and now I'm back into the small level and actually gained 4 pounds!!! Very frustrating seeing how I'm only doing 20/25 grams of carbs and I've actually lowered my fat intake so my body can burn my own fat!!! I have about a hundred and fifty pounds to lose and I'm 64 years old!!! Unfortunately every time I ask Dr. Berg a question you never responds or answers me back!!!! Hey Kenneth! Not a doctor, but I’m a medical student! I’ve dropped 38 lbs off of an 185 lbs frame and if I could offer some advice? 22 days isn’t long enough to drop your fat calories. Really try and keep them up for a couple of months, don’t starve and malnourish yourself. Your body is an incredible organism and don’t stress too hard about the calories... eat when you are hungry and don’t eat when you aren’t. Try and keep your eating condensed to possibly 2 meals a day until you’re adapted. Always keep water and mineral intake high to support mental clarity and don’t be discouraged by the number on the scale! Keep at it!

What seems to be your problem? Dr. Berg only offers information so that you can make an informative decision about your health. Sorry, but MD and DO's are not the end all.

Agreed. Regardless of Dr. Berg’s medical license, he offers an incredible amount of free information for nothing in return... Not to mention his plan WORKS. All of these MD’s and DO’s want your wallet before they check your ears for wax.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE BODY AND WHAT OCCURS FROM THE FUEL AND TOXINS WE PUT IN. " it's a no brainer" no GP will help you like this. Their solutions are operations and poison toxins
