This deck doesn't need Dolby C because he has double dolby circuits first and second the reverse function moves the head back and forward and this leads to technical disruption of the head so you wont playback normaly the recording on the other side of the cassette you've made.When this machine was brand new it costs 6000$ now maybe more more than this of course this is the best deck that Nakamichi or anyone has ever made!

Nakamichi Dragon might beat it playing tapes, but recording tapes, the 1000 ZXL deck rules the world. Nothing can make a high quality Type IV(Metal) cassette approach a high quality reel to reel deck sound quality, only this deck!
It's a beauty. Just look at those iPod playback decking speaker system sold today, you can see how tasteless those manufactures are and how much thar are cutting corners . It's sad.
In all honesty, you should approach some of the semi-private libraries that have serious archival departments. Some of they are funded to buy equipment like this for transferring rare audio out to digital once and for all.
Yeah this cassette player is really something. I agree with you, and I think we have also taken many steps back on sound quality, as far as mass market goes. Instead of going from cassette tape to CD to Super Audio CD or DVD Audio, we got MP3.
No, its just the most glitzy and cadillac like beast :-), the best and most reliable ever made is the 1990 SONY TCK 950-ES its even better than the Revox b215.

So I have a NAK cr-3A that I bought refurbished for about 350 dollars. The deck shown in this video costs 10-12 times more.....But does is sound 10-12 times better than my cr-3A? Probably not. And I have money left over to buy blank tape too!
Mods & Tweaks ZX-9 has DD (Direct Drive) whereas this, along with 1000ZXL, 700ZXL and 700ZXE are belt-drive. Therefore ZX-9 has better speed stability. These machines will definitely beat ZX-7 and ZX-9 hands down.
+Aarón Ibáñez Werthermänn Tastes vary. It also makes a difference what tape you're using. I don't have the 1000ZXL, but an RX-505 and a Dragon. They are pretty similar and both are very good. But for some tapes I've encountered my Sony TC-K808ES does by far the best job.
And others will tell you the A&D (Akai) GX-Z7100EV was the best. Others the Sony TC-KA7ES. Most Japanese audio enthusiasts say it's the Victor (JVC) TD-V931. Still others will tell you the Aiwa XK-009. I'm a Nak man, myself.

Because it automatically calibrates the azimuth alignment of the heads for each cassette you insert. I think it also adjusts the bias levels to best match the current tape you're playing, as well as automatically switches into the correct tape formulation/type: normal, high-bias, metal.
Yes, I mentioned that it adjusts the bias level as well as selects the correct tape formulation/eq. The DRAGON did the same the thing, except for tape type selection.

I owned the 700zxl from new circa 1988 and all I can say is that it was very pretty.Playback was poor and so where the recordings from BBC radio 3 FM.This machine might be of interest to vintage collectors but audiophile would run a mile.
I like how sellers hype this as being the best but then want to sell it. If it really is that good then why sell it. It's all about the Benjamin's lol...If your judging this thing on build quality alone then yes it would probably rank as one of the best. In the sound quality department their dragon is as good or better. Plus there are other decks from other manufacturers in the same league sound quality wise or better. So making a statement as being the best is false. A better statement would have been one of the best instead!
Cuz he wants a shit load of money for it. So he just hyping it up like most sellers do. Build wise probably one of the best but sound quality wise there were better decks. Even their own dragon deck was better than this!
In den 90ern gab es viele Decks, die Nakamichi abgehängt haben... Pioneer CT-95 z.B. Trotzdem haben Nakamichis Kassettendecks vor allem in den 80ern viele Standards gesetzt auch wenn sie protzig aussahen

This will beat Dragon, CR7 but for some strange reasons it was a tough match against ZX9. Zx9 is by far the best tape deck money can buy.
