What I came to realize fairly recently, after 20 or so years of playing the guitar, and perhaps 10-15 of writing music, is that every minute matters. I now, while still working a demanding day job, try to use even small fragments of time to make anything related to music making. Often, a 90% of time is learning technical stuff that you need to make a beat or a synth sound, or just how to manage something in your DAW. Also I came to realize that I actually like house music, EDM, pop stuff, and that my guitar playing is just not enough to stay relevant and to create new songs. In this day and age, you need to learn a lot more. But good thing is that knowledge is everywhere, which was not the case in the past. Also, you can't really carry your guitar around all the time, but you can do a lot with a laptop and MIDI. Let's see what this year brings!
