Don't forget, this is also an every evolving price. Especially considering you can only charge what the market will bear. If you're charging what everyone else is charging but no one's making any money, then the market won't bear what you're charging. That's probably the hardest thing to figure out. Especially when you're starting out. But even when you're experienced it's hard to know if it's a good time to raise your prices or lower them.
Good point. At the end of the day photography is a luxury service and isn’t a necessity for most people. Its hard to gauge the market but you should always be making sure the expenses are covered.
Starting photographers also price based on their experience (or how well they are known in the industry), often saying "well I can't price myself like Joe, because Joe is more famous", also a mistake.
Thats a tough one. You might push away clients if you charge based on experience in the beginning. Because you can gain experience in a short amount of time. Then what do you do? Raise your prices? Id say demand out weighs experience as a gauge.
