  • Today I'm comparing two cheap budget Stratocaster style guitars by Jet. The JS-400 (which really is cheap), and the JS-480 (which isn't AS cheap). I'll also be mentioning the JS-300 and JS-380, since I think the comparison holds for those two as well.
    I hope you enjoy!

    If anything, this episode was a great demo of why it is important to change your strings, even if you don't think they have gone dull. After a long enough period, they absolutely have, even if you didn't notice it happening over that time.

    I'd go for the 400 and upgrade the hardware and electronics. I've got one. I dont use a whammy so I blocked the trem. Bought new saddles for it £25. Bought Vanson locking tuners £35. Bought a tonerider loaded pickguard for it £150, has premium electronics, switch, socket etc and city limits pups neck and middle and a ac2 humbucker in the bridge, pups sound epic. Graph Tech string tree £10. Guitar was £169. Total spent £389. My guitar is flawless. Looks brill, plays brill, holds tune amazingly, sounds epic. I also have a JT 300(tele) £169 that I spent £185 upgrading and it is also flawless. £354 total cost for that one. £743 and I have a perfect strat and tele. Jet guitars are amazeballs. Two perfect guitars for less than half the price of a Fender pro 2. Modding is the way forward.

      @@derekjohnson5720 Ok, what is the actual moral of your story? New tuners, new bridge, new pickups? What exactly are you trying to acheive?. Do you know the basics of good pickups, good tuners and a good bridge? If not i am prepared to educate you as it is no secret just knowledge.

      @@johnbrooke9948 the moral of the story is you don't have to pay a lot of money to have a brilliant guitar. A lot of influencers will give you the impression that you're guitar needs to be American or Japanese made and it will cost £1000+. You get much better value for you're money modding a well constructed cheap guitar. I don’t need educated on guitar parts, hardware, electronics etc. I could mod a Jet quitar with £250 and it would be as good as a American pro 2. A good guitar isn't about hardware and electronics, they are after parts, they go on after the guitar has been built and painted. A good guitar is all about the craftsmanship of the woods and the effort that goes into the neck, frets and nut. Jet guitars are constructed to a very high professional standard before the after parts go on. More money doesn't always mean better. Sometimes less is more if you spend wisley. You don't need to mod a guitar with big brand name parts, Fender, hipshot, grover, Gibson etc. Other brands, vanson, wilkinson, tonerider give you the exact same quality at less than half the price.

    Got a good deal on the JS380 for black friday Although its the upgraded version I ordered a solid brass block for extra sustain which hasnt arrived yet but fitted a set of Bootstrap Handwound pickups. Cost about €400 in total and as it is and its as nice as my American performer strat , Very Impressed with this guitar

    I've also been impressed with the pickup sound of the budget Ibanez HSS - both the GRX 40 (strat model) and the GSA 60. They don't have the roasted neck which is in vogue at present - but that wouldn't be top of my list.

      I swapped mine, Iron Gears, a lot cheaper than paying an extra 200 bucks, tbf, the humbucker is fine and always need to be careful that balances with the single coils.

    I love my JS-400. It plays so nice. Sounds great through every amp I have though I have to admit that I'm utterly in love with my Sire J3. I know it's a bit more money but I wonder how the Sire S3 would stack up to the JS-480. It'd be a tough call but I think the fit and finish on the Sire brand beats Jet, but it's close. Both brands are awesome and sub $500(US).

    Very Cool video Elmo, this was my comment on your previous video about the Jet, is it twice the 400? Jet JS400, best money I have ever spent on a Guitar, and I have guitars 20x the price. I did swap the 2 single coils for Iron Gear, personal preference, stock were ok, for a guitar under £600, but iron gear made it sing, trem springs were replaced as sh#te, guitar has been gigged a lot, after 2 years everything good. Do you have a contact address btw?

    • @makinganoise6028
      @makinganoise6028 Місяць тому +1

      lube the nut, put decent springs on, balance the trem, sometimes its because of the way the nut is cut, string trees and even the way you string the guitar. The springs on my JS400 were sh*t, easy fix bought new ones on amazon, I've had the spring issue on other makes costing much more,

    • @puella_meiberu
      @puella_meiberu Місяць тому

      I can't speak for him but I've played a JS-480 in a store and I have tiny hands and can't play many necks and it was the most comfortable neck in the entire store, it's very much a somewhat flat modern C profile, not very wide either, but a sensation of 'chunkiness' could maybe come from the little bit of shoulder the neck has which honestly made it more comfortable for me especially with the relatively low frets, didn't impair my ability to wrap around the neck at all, the neck was so good I considered taking it home right then and there but the bridge was causing awful tuning stability issues & the grommet system for the arm is unpleasant to me & I didn't know what bridges I could put on it so I ended up leaving it there.
