    This is brilliant. Absolutely fascinating. As a kid I used to stay at what was The Elms caravan site adjacent to the lock and used to swim in Fossdyke with my grandparents. Only a week or so ago I visited the White Swan to reminisce.

    I grew up in Dunham on Trent and the old villagers always talked about the Vikings camping close to Torksey. I was told the area you mention was the area!! Clearly oral history as they refuted the area in those days that historians were indicating. Now their perspective proved correct!!
