That was related to President Park’s policy. He thought color television sets consumed too much electricity for Korea. This policy ended in 1980 because President Park was assassinated on October 26, 1979.

This new intro is TRASH. Not only the graphics and text animations became significantly worse, but the text placement is shitty as well. The music sounds like a BBC rip-off too, completely losing the identity KBS had with their previous tracks. On top of that, KBS themselves aren't in good terms with their employees either because the new CEO is known to randomly fire or demote employees without warning, including the previous hosts of KBS News 9. And that doesn't help with the reputation of the new intro. If it ain't broke, don't fix the damn thing. It was fine but they HAD to make it somehow worse.
