First video like this i ever watched, and i m baffled! Going to college is like preparing you for your life away from home, and here in Holland its NOHWHERE near this luxurious. Its pretty much the shitiest youll ever live in your life. It should be uphill from there, but looking at this, im figuring it can only go downhill from here? How can you ever cope with real life, with one bedroom apartments with cockroaches and stuff?
Ie Pe From my time in college in the US, I can promise that this is not the normal living situation. I’ve never been in a sorority but I’ve always heard that they’re very nice. The rest of the non-Greek life students usually live in apartments or houses with roommates and definitely don’t have it even a quarter as nice as the house in this video.
I'm American...my dorm was much older and tiny. Then we moved to "crappy" old homes around campus. This is NOT how 80% of college students live. Trust me.
theforceisnotwithyou that comment actually made me so happy I’m planning on attending ASU but I wasn’t planning on joining a sorority just for that reason but knowing that girls at ASU are genuinely nice and kind is so reassuring
The living room couches look very comfy. I always thought ASU had sorority houses and it is cool all of them are in a group with a grassy area in the center.
Some schools have a residential hall for sororities. Its usually really small schools, my school is middle-sized and our sororities( Kappa Delta, Chi Omega and Zeta Tau Alpha) all have houses of their own.
It is an American thing. People pay to be part of a sister/brotherhood that does activities, fundraising, and events. It also offers housing for members that is usually better than the dorms or cheap apartments. Some people think it's really dumb and some really love it.
KiomEl it’s like a group that does good things for their city or neighborhood. They throw parties, have functions, etc. My mom is in one and she wants me to get into one, so this is how I know all this
Its so cool to see greek life at different universities. I go to FSU and all the sorority houses are on campus and most of them are like 50+ years old and some fraternities are on campus as well but they also have what we call "heritage grove" which is where they have like their own neighborhood full of different frats. each frat has their own house but each house it basically like a mini apartment complex, they have a HUGE backyard/deck and then individual apartments with anywhere from 2-3 bedrooms each.
I’ve never been in a sorority or even close to that life but I’m glad to see this stuff still exists. I believe if done right it can be very beneficial.
I'm Australian and I constantly find myself watching these kinds of videos and those American "come to school with me" type videos. It's so weird to see the differences in everyday life, like wow.
My daughter sent me this video..hopefully attending ASU in 4.5 yrs...lol. You girls are lucky! When I attended ASU the sorority “house’s” were in dorms. Not sure if they are still there. We were close to the stadium. It was a 3 story building and each floor was a different house. There were 4 of these buildings that formed a quad. Best years of my life! Enjoy ASU!
bc that saves space like not talking about sororities but dorms in general making a seperate room for every single person is too much money. plus after ppl are probably sharing apartments with each other unless they’re rich and can afford better.
Ajplus B most people at public universities like ASU move off campus after their freshman or sophomore year. Greek life is usually only a minority at most campuses too so not everyone lives in a frat or sorority house. There are student apartments which most students live in and you get your own bedroom there.
kathryn sleezer there are traditionally African Americans sororities and fraternities, the umbrella organization is called the NPHC, I think. There are also, Latina, Native American, ect. But by law you can not discriminate. However, many people do self segregate. But I can understand wanting to join an org that supports their culture.

I remember walking through my older sisters sorority house when she was moving in and I was eight maybe but I literally got lost so many times it was huge.
I went to ASU, and I remember when Fraternity Row still existed. I wasn't in a sorority, but we all knew where the fraternities and sororities were. I was told that part of the reason the old houses were demolished (kind of sad because so few old houses last in the Tempe area) was that they were all set up for the system that they used decades earlier, where every fraternity and sorority had full-time "house mothers" who acted basically like housekeepers, doing all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry for the house. When more of the students started doing their own cooking and stuff, they were no longer necessary, but the houses weren't really set up for everybody doing their own individual cooking and stuff, so they decided to just scrap them and start over with new facilities. How are you all managing with the coronavirus?

Thanks for the tour. ASU is special when it comes to Greek Life. The house is beautiful! My sorority (ADPi) decides not to get a house in the GLV, so I don’t have a reason to see the inside of any of the houses.
