since the arrival of orin ayo i’ve seen SO MANY PEOPLE saying that they like a mod not because of music, designs or animations, but because of the lore. Incredibox was made to make awesome sounding music, not reading an entire paragraph on how someone died in the most gruesome way. seeing this community going into this route… it’s just straight up sad to see.
The thing is that the magic of music is that it can tell a story through the music itself. So, a drawn-out lore documentation on random characters feels extremely jarring in an INCREDIBOX mod, a music-making tool.
Absolutely god tier video. Lore is something that I feel that has so much potential but everyone who does it fumbles it so hard and borderline just parodies eachother. Lore is awesome, but Sepbox, Corruptbox, Disasters, Orin Ayo spin offs literally just parody eachother in terms of it being about alternate humans after an incident. Even if the music is good or not, the lore is so uninspired, especially at face value
Please don't ignore this comment. I'm not mad and I don't hate you, but please take Sepbox out of the mentoned mods; its story isn't "uninspired" or "unoriginal" or a "parody". It's you who made you think that. Why? You didn't look at the Sepbox V6 or Sepbox V7 lore (or Sepbox V4 lore, but that one was kinda changed up in V6). Because you're not happy with the kinds of mods that parody each other and/or mention things like infections and death, that's what not catching up on Sepbox lore did to you. A lot of others told you about what not reading V6 and V7 lore did to you, but you didn't listen. I don't know whether or not that situation has passed or whether or not you took a look at the other Sepbox lore projects before I told you to, but it's quite a shame you blindly criticized the V8 story.
The lore can also be told with bonuses, and not just documents, something like Dystopia, where the bonuses together make a story. I would prefer to see that instead of a hella lot of text
You know, I think if done right the lore behind a mod can in fact make it more enjoyable. But so far we haven't seen much of that. You know what would be cool? If there was like, a series that instead of being about an apocalypse, was about a god who created humanity, but they began to wage war, so he made his own race of people and hid in his own city. Then were would be battles between them that would be explored in their own versions, and it wouldn't just be in logs, but in like, spinoff games and actual bonuses. Whats even better you could have it be a collaboration between two separate mod making teams that begin to connect over time. has this ever been done before
Y’all, lore isn’t the problem here. A cheap and easy story is quicker to produce than a long running, complex narrative. Of course there’s gonna be a million terrible stories, the good ones are still under development or are being buried. Music has been tied to storytelling for centuries, you can try to separate the two but it just won’t work. Not everything needs a narrative I understand, but to remove the idea of a narrative entirely isn’t fair at all. Not every story is gonna be good either, I think we forgot that a lot of these creators are kids with passion projects. The over saturation is exhausting, but you can’t tell me this was preventable. It’s like a BIG OL game of telephone, Orin Ayo set the groundwork for a new and potentially exciting story, but it’s popularity was followed by people who wanted to ride the coattails of its success. Now it’s gotten so bad to the point where I think we forgot what made Orin Ayo so popular in the first place. It wasn’t because it was the best piece of fiction or had a good story, it was NEW and it opened a lot of ideas to young storytellers. But it also gave way to what we see now. I honestly think the way to stop this is not to fight against the wave. Creators need to stand out from the crowd to be noticed and recognized for their ideas. But you need to also recognize that quality takes TIME, because while we wait for new ideas, the same stuff is still being produced in the background
@@AdithiDaVinci Mmhm exactly! How do we expect to find a cool and interesting mod if it doesn’t do anything new or innovative? Sepbox, Colorbox, Vitsubox, etc. have one of the most interesting lores that aren't inspired from the what used to be famous mods called Orin Ayo and Breakthrough for their tragic and cruel lores (As for the the name Tragibox). They talk more about the characters traits or even a deep lore/story behind it that makes it more like a series to indulge in, we need more of these kinds of mods rather than the Oh-so-dark-and-scary cheap stuff. OG Mods are beautiful too with their bonuses that tells their own stories.
This is a bit complicated, in my opinion, if there is any lore in an Incredibox mod, I always think it will depend on the bonuses, like Evadare and Arbox themselves, which have already done this,Evadare goes from the beginning to the end of his story, Arbox tried, because Augury came with the part of the story that was supposed to be shown first, but came later to make things confusing, But for Scratch creations it's just the same thing: TXT lore, wars, something related to viruses, tragic events, etc. From Sepbox's v8 onwards I thought it was a little more of the same, because I ended up wanting them to go face the big villain of the story (which doesn't even show why Masswenth is a villain anymore), And others are also the same thing that gets a bit repetitive, if it were to show what the character is like it would be ok, but if it's for something in the story it's just this repetition, And it's something that we don't even see anymore, even if it's a summary, because Scratch creations no longer even focus on having bonuses to want to show this part of the story beyond the sounds of each version, And then it becomes very boring for the vast majority, as if there wasn't going to be another way of telling the story and continuing with it in a more unique way, I don't know when this showing part of the story in TXT will end, because just sticking with it will end up being quite unbearable at some point, I don't think it's confusing as you didn't say, but that it's not just in text is a point that I completely agree with
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING!!! Every time when there is a scrach mod, there is always a document lore page that makes it so boring and uninteresting that it's not unique, and even when there are new official mods, they unfortunately don't have any bonuses/story to share, at least Orin Ayo got a okish remake, it just needs a new story to have (and not though the documents) though bonuses to make it more interesting.
BUT ALSO 15 MODS FOR SEPBOX!!! you know i'm not a huge fan of sepbox because it's a mod in cocrea rather than being an actual official mod, BUT 15 IS TOO MUCH!!!!
I would really enjoy seeing a mod that takes place, in a scenario kind of like post Dystopia, where they are trying to rebuild. It would have a dark but hopeful sound to it
I think Neester maybe on to something if the creator what to put some lore let it put some lore into. As long the sound tracks and the images of the polos make sense like the Colorbox collection for example.
This might just be re-telling what Neester said in that post, but the main reason I don't like lore documents is because they're usually just a lazy, generic, copy-paste format. Horror mods especially have this problem where they adopt an Urbanspook-like style, just pure shock value without any actual story. "(Insert character here) was killed by (Insert excruciatingly detailed method of murder here) and this is what they look like afterwards (Insert messed up looking polo here)." Especially especially with mods like E.V.A.C.U.A.T.E. just reusing the Orin Ayo format. Character shows up, gets hit by the forbidden soy sauce, and turns into a horrific monster, The end.
I think lore is a good thing to have in some mods but it will never impact my opinion on them. Good lore is appreciated but the actual mods are all about the music and visuals. A mod with good music and bad lore will always be better than a mod with good lore and bad music. I like the mods by leonard is my name like sins and krystalbox v4 far more than orin ayo even tho orin ayo has far better lore. If lore isn't a necessary part of incredibox mods then it shouldn't impact the quality of them. I could keep going on forever on this topic.

I'm a little conflicted that Neester decided to mention this. You see, I've been kinda generating my own concept, and I look at lots of these other stories, which were likely born from the actual mod/scratch fangame, which are usually not all that great. My idea has been stirring around long before I discovered Incredibox though, and although it may be similar to Sepbox 6: Embers, in that it's sort of a tragic sounding song with war-related lore to it, hell the first one in my series is legit called War, like I said, the whole overarching story has been developed for years without me even knowing about Incredibox. Plus... you know... I thought of it before Embers came out? All just a case of forcing Incredibox into something it’s not. I swear people looked at what V8 did and took it too far.
I think lore it's fine in mods, but the problem it's not the presence, it's the CONTENT of the lore that makes a mod shitty.
Are you have enough sleep?
