Like she already arrived on the set, then found out that her luggage was lost, she's already about to start filming, might as well milk what you can obtain from the opportunity in front of her. i'll try to summarize the snatch game references: John Fedellaga - Angel Locsin (Filipina actress) She referenced some of Locsin's movies and films, all of which were delivered perfectly. Locsin starred in "The Legal Wife", where her character had a husband who had another wife, hence the "Because he was never yours, Nicole! My husband is mine, Nicole!" line. She also starred in "Lobo" where her character turns into a wolf. The rest of the references I do not know what films they were from, but John's acting was worthy of pulling her to the top. She caught Locsin's mannerisms perfectly, especially the "hmm?" parts. Maxie - Bob, short for Babae sa Balete Drive (White Lady in Malete Drive, local horror story) Maxie did a brave decision portraying a ghost from local belief, but she did it justice. The ghost jokes were hitting. She also mentioned "Mumuland", a callback to the K-pop group Momoland whose popularity boomed in the Philippines with their hit song "Bboom Bboom", sang during Maxie's segment to which she danced to (although in a ghost-like manner). She also did an ongoing bit as an office assistant of Tita Baby's Grim Reaper, another ethereal being, which was such a good call for both of them. The UA-cam channel "Paranormal Activities" is a callback to the horror movie series of the same name. Myx Chanel - Rufa Mae Quinto (Filipina actress and comedienne) A bit of a refresher, Rufa was also portrayed during Season 1 of DRPH by Eva Le Queen, which put a lot of pressure on Myx to do well. Myx is Eva's drag daughter (if I'm not mistaken), she was going to impersonate a recurring character in Snatch Game, and the Season 1 portrayal was too iconic to be portrayed again. She delivered her jokes as best as she could, but none of them topped the first Rufa. I personally do not know if the jokes were referencing some of Rufa's films or just an interpretation of Rufa's jokes, but she did her best. Her top jokes for me was the "Part 1, Part 2" bit, where Maxie and John participated, and the "sampaltite" one, where Angel and Khianna participated, although she only pulled this from Eva's "tampalpuke" joke. Diving deeper, tampalpuke is an actual Filipino name for a species of fish, and also a play of words (tampal = another form of "sampal" which means slap, puke = vagina). Sampaltite, on the other hand, does not mean anything besides slap and tite, which means penis. J.Quinn - Confucius (Chinese philosopher) While I have yet to know if there were other choices, portraying a character only found in history books and (non-Filipino) general knowledge was... a choice. J.Quinn also did her best with the jokes, but most of them were irrelevant to the character, in my opinion. Khianna said it best, her Confucius left me confused. Star City is an amusement park in the Philippines, which burned in 2019 and reopened in 2022. Maybe the mahjong joke was the closest reference to her character, I don't know. Khianna - Baron Geisler (Filipino actor) Her portrayal of Baron was also amazing, from the mannerisms of someone with a history of misconduct to the fierce references of his films (that's why Khianna was already apologizing out of fear to Baron in her Untucked confessional LMAO). Similar with John, I do not know which films the references were pulled out from, but the overall acting was amazing, including her conversations with Angel, Bench and Maxie. Baron was known for alcohol-related charges, hence the quick banter with Bob about pissing on the Balete tree. Popstar Bench - Sarah Geronimo (Filipina singer) Sarah Geronimo is a household name in the Philippines, known for her iconic songs (like "Tala"), music-related awards and show appearances, one of which is The Voice Kids Philippines where she starred as a Song Coach (Kyle Echarri, the episode's guest judge, had Sarah as her Song Coach). Moving on to that one segment about the milk, Sarah was known to appear in commercials about a product from Bear Brand, a famous powdered milk brand in the Philippines. Instead of a bear, the milk carton has Bernie (DRPH S2 finalist) in it, hence Bernie Brand. Vovomax (vovo = other term for "bobo" which means stupid, and max = short for maximum) is a play on words based on Vivomax, a Filipino streaming platform known for being used for films that are not... family-friendly, hence the "rack superstar" joke. The apology Bench gave in the confessional refers to Sarah's issues with her controlling parents, especially her mom who allegedly used her as a cash cow during her early years of fame; Bench used the names of the parents in the apology (Mommy Divine and Daddy Delfin) while using her voice for Sarah. Popstar Bench is also known for impersonating Sarah Geronimo on her drag occupations, so she did it flawlessly here in Snatch Game. Angel - Maria Clara (character from the novels of Jose Rizal, the Philippines' national hero) She deserved the win for this challenge. Maria Clara is described in the novels as a kindhearted woman (graceful, modest, conservative, very mindful, very demure and all that), and was set as an example by older generations for young Filipina ladies to act like her. Angel basically bent (if not destroyed) that example with her portrayal of a more self-confident, open, and sex-positive version of Maria Clara in our modern world (the novels were created during the 1800s). The social issues being tackled by Jose Rizal's novels were different compared to now, and as such the certain behaviors and attitudes of the characters in the novels should change as well, and Angel did an amazing interpretation. She found the balance for Maria between knowing gay lingo and being very vocal about her preferences in a relationship (in the modern world), and having the attributes of being kind, modest, and a Filipino sense of being well-spoken (in her generation, like nobody says "pardon me" anymore LMAO). Besides her portrayal, her bits with the other queens were done perfectly. Maria's bit with the Grim Reaper about a very old Filipino senator who is memed to be older than the dinosaurs (and the novels, explaining Maria's familiarity with the senator), her vulgar actions with Baron Geisler, and that one bit with Sarah Geronimo about the milk. Angel was known to have a huge crush on Kyle Echarri, hence the "Ginoo, titikman" ("My good sir, I'd like to try") bit. Tita Baby - Grim Reaper The Grim Reaper is a very known character, which gave Tita a big advantage: all of her jokes would be understood immediately. Similar to Maxie's Bob, the dead jokes were landing perfectly, and her banter with everyone gave her a boost to reach the top placement for the week. Tita's created storyline with Maxie about the employer-employee relationship of the Grim Reaper and Bob was a quick and good call, her banter with Zymba's Wilma was also funny, her bit with Angel's Maria Clara about the senator was also understood by the Filipino audience, and that one part where Tita shut Bench up by pulling her with the scythe was amazing. Zymba Ding - Wilma Doesnt Pa Rin (Wilma Still Doesnt, referring to Wilma Doesnt, Filipina actress) Wilma Doesnt is known for starring in comedy films and other movies, but as Kaladkaren uttered, is not a household name. Myx Chanel mentioned that Wilma Doesnt is known for not giving energy in her films, having a more monotone attitude and voice. Mama Pao also referred to Zymba's impersonation as a bit offensive, since her jokes relating to Wilma were pulled from Wilma's appearance. For example, that one bit where Wilma had brushes in her hair didn't land on the audience well as it appeared to be imitating or mocking people with curly hair. I do not know which films were referenced in the posing bit and the broom bit. This is an awful lot of information to read for those who do not get the references, so to the others who enjoyed the Snatch Game this season, please correct me if some information is incorrect or you would like to add more information and references. the reason why Angel won imo was because she portrayed Maria Clara in a way that people never expected her to be. Just to give a reference, Maria Clara here in the Philippines is the epitome of very demure Filipina women wherein for the past hundred years, women in the Philippines were being boxed for that character and Angel being portrayed Maria Clara in that way, it’s a progress especially here in the PH that most of the people (mostly the boomers) think that every women should be Maria Clara.
Also in addition, Maria Clara, who is the character of Angel, represents the women and ladies that we have today that are not afraid to show some skin, bold, sexy, confident, but still can be demure and shy at the same time. So there are a lot of significant messages behind her character and actions while still being funny. In conclusion, her character is still there; it's just not the usual Maria Clara that we see on TV.
Drag Race Philippines is so SICKENING. It is amazing and wonderful. All episodes so far are 10/10, and this Snatch Game is one of the best. Angel, Tita, and John slayed those performances, and as also mentioned in a comment, this should have been a triple win. Love you Val! 💗

For me, John won based on impersonation, character-based answers, and runway, but Angel's comedic/modern take on Maria Clara eclipsed her performance. I'm still happy for Angel, but I wished it was a three-way win with Tita Baby, Angel, and John Fedellaga.

Hi Miss Valery let me explain the characters of the girls in the Snatch game who did very well. John's character was Angel Locsin (a famous actress in PH) and she is referencing the characters and lines that the actress portray in her movies and series. For example the Lobo (fox or werewolf) - which is like a lady transform into a Wolf. Then when she jumps off the podium, she portraying the character Mulawin which is a Bird Lady. Next is Maxie which is obviously a Ghost that is very well known in our country. Its an urban legend ghost that haunt drunk drivers in that specific street which is the Balete Drive Street. Angel's Maria Clara is a character in a novel which our National Hero Jose Rizal (Maxies Episode 1 - Home town realness reference) wrote during the Spanish Colonial Era. (Noli Me Tanghere and El Felibuzterismo) Maria Clara is a representation of a pure, fine and a very demure Filipina women. Angel did a different approach on her portrayal. Its like she doesnt want to be "prim and proper" anymore and she wants to experience "lust and sex" which is kinda different on the Maria Clara we used to know. Tita Baby is the Grim Reaper but she added a twist on it - shes a Business Women Grim Reaper and she protray like the boss of Maxie (Ghost) which is her employee. The picture she shown was Senator Enrile - which is known to be the oldest senator in our country (and hes still alive and Tita baby makes fun of it because hes like so strong that he is still alive even though hes age is going to be 100) Khiannas character was Baron Geisler which is a famous actor in the Philippines but this actor involves in some controversial issues. Khianna nailed it and that "NASAN ANG SABAW" is a reference on a drama he made before. Indeed this is the most chaotic and best snatch game so far for the Franchise.

Angel won because her character has an arc. She started very demure (very mindful). Speaking in deep tagalog. And eventually being this modern version - sexy, bold and outspoken. That sold the fantasy. Khianna also did amazing! It was funny all throughout. There is actually a back and forth with baron and khianna in x. He loves khianna’s performance! John did amazing, love the part when she tries to shift into a wolf’s form. Full of references.
I feel like it gets lost in translation. Cause people think Angel is just being Angel in the snatch game. But throughout the snatch game, Angel was speaking in very formal, old timey tagalog, (kinda like Shakespearean) and incorporating some modernized terms with it for comedic effect. So she was very on character as Maria Clara. The subtitles tried , but was not consistent with translating the way Angel was speaking. Just for context on what she was doing with her character.

The babae sa balete is a famous ghost that scares drivers that passes through the Balate Drive. Also, Filipino men (not all) likes to pee at the tree that's why Baron said he gonna pee on maxie. The picture Tita Baby showed is the pic of the old politician here in Ph, it is a joke here that he actually lived from Jurassic era and even kept Trex as a pet. What John is doing when he looked like he was pooping is he's transforming into a wolf haha Maria Clara is known to be very demure, but angel liberated her. i probably forgot to include other things but that's the thing I remember where i laughed hard and val was like "what is happening" 😭😭 Hahaha Thanks mama Also, I would've gave the win to Tita Baby🥰

miss valery, i absolutely agree with you on the whole track record thing. to answer your question about whether or not you should be more sensitive when it comes to critiquing drag race philippines - i think you should definitely continue to stay true to yourself and give your raw and honest opinion. this is why we love watching you! 😊 but it might help you understand the filipino drag community better if you do consider the queens' emotions on top of their performances. at the end of each episode, mama pao's speech translates to "remember to show your true self through your thoughts, your words, and your actions. show your heart, always and in always." so yes, this is a competition. but in the world of filipino drag, emotions cannot be separated from performances. because filipino queens perform from the heart! this is why the very first winner they crowned was a queen known for her "precious heart"! ❤

I've been a fan of yours ever since your reaction to Drag Race Philippines Season 1. I really like how you share your thoughts, and I hope you keep doing it the same way. You never said anything wrong (cuz every viewer's opinion is valid, especially if it is shared without malice). Personally, I felt the same way about Yudipota. I love her, but it was true that when she did slip up a bit she had this "f it, i dont need this" attitude. Still, I understand that it can be really hard to put in extra effort and time to make something for the runway after losing her luggage. She probably felt the most pressure and stress while competing in that competition.

Maria Clara is not just a character, generations after generations, Maria Clara is used to embody what A FILIPINA WOMAN should be. Prim, proper, and traditional, But that’s giving a negative view for modern women who are not ALL THAT. John Fedellaga goes with Ms. Angel Locsin a veteran actress in the Philippines where she's the leading role to a lot of characters Queer people grew watching, hence one of the famous faces in the country. John channels all of the reference for the character , which we immediately recognize that's why it is so funny. Maxie's character is the woman in Balete Tree who's infamous to be seen there making the drive street more haunted. Khianna's character who is Baron Geisler who was known as a villain character in all Television shows, who also shows problematic behavior in the days resulting into rage scandals (but who is cleared and sober now). Zymba's character is Wilma doesn't who's known because of her last name "doesn't" and whe she got married her husbands last name is "parin" which is translated into (parin = again), Wilma is also an actress and was know in ages for years. Pop Star Bench - Did her idol Sarah G Geronimo, the one she's impersonating. the face was very the same, but the jokes were kind of flop. Myx - Did the character, Eva Le Queen's portrayed during season 1. The real person/artist behind Khianna's and John Fedellaga's have seen the show and was happy about their impression of them.

I always assumed everything at the beginning of this video, and it makes sense that not everybody has that mindspace about reality TV. It's important to say these things and not just operate on assumptions. With that said, I don't think you should change the way you react to this season. The competition this episode is so tight between the too queens, but I’m guessing Angel won cause despite the fact that she’s acting like angel in the second half, she’s still speaking in deeper, shakespeare-esque tagalog which got lost in translation.

Don't give a different or special treatment to DRPH. As a Filipino, I think that most of us just get so affected when other people criticize our people, it's double-edged sword if you think about it. But that's just how I think we are, some people are open minded, open for discussions and open for other peoples' opinion without getting offended, but some just aren't. Cmon Valery Angel is acting that way towards Jquinn is because they know each other outside the competition Angel feels like what Jquinn is showing/acting on the show is normally not how she is outside as someone who knows her in a personal level, so therefore, yes, they are friends outside.

angel's role was actually quite revolutionary because maria clara, a character written decades ago, was seen as the "perfect filipino woman" - demure, modest, quiet, respectful, pure. but this has been widely contested by filipino women because it is not an accurate representation of women, and these stereotypes put them in a box. angel said she wanted to represent the modern maria clara (albeit to the extremes) - sex positive, capable of being loud, etc. which is why it is so widely celebrated ❤ my favorite this snatch game was tita baby, but angel's win was very well-deserved as well! she still kept to her character because she was using very deep, formal filipino, which didn't translate properly in the subtitles.

I was honestly waiting for a double win (Angel and John). However, after watching it 3 times, yes Angel devoured. She was the funniest and her energy was infectious. I would like to clarify to international viewers that Angel was committed to her character even until the end (beginning- Prim and proper Maria Clara, middle to end- Modern Maria Clara). She maintained Maria Clara's mannerisms/nuances until the end like Paumanhin (I'm sorry), Ginoo (Mister) and deep Filipino words that we don't oftenly use in the modern world. John wait for your turn, your trajectory is sooooooo good 🙏
Side note: Zymba did not remove her ensemble intentionally, wardrobe malfunction has occurred (rewatch it). That's why she removed it because it fell off already and might affect her entire performance.
Don't mince your words bc you're afraid, if ppl disagree with you over something bc they feel you're not taking something into account they can just treat your opinion with less weight. Unless u wanna change that way to become a more emotionally in-tune person, there's no point. You're right where a lot of these differences in our perceptions come from our mindsets and culture, but I think that applies to you. A Ballroom perspective isn't necessarily more realistic or accurate than other perspectives, and ofc it's often gonna lead you to have different perspectives on Drag Race because obviously Drag Race and reality TV in general is fundamentally different from Drag Race. My take on Yudipota: I agree w/ you that she deserved to go home regardless, but I think she is completely within her right to quit whenever she wants. We don't hold ppl captive in competitions, if they wanna quit, quit and deal with the consequences of your actions. Your take that she should've quit when she first got there, while valuable, misses the point of feelings bc it assumes ppl act rationally all the time. Yudi wanted to push through her own doubts when she first got there bc she felt she owed it, but the stress of getting an outfit together every week while doing the maxi challenge took a toll. And then when she falls in the bottom and gets critiqued on her look, she felt like it wasn't worth it anymore. At that moment and through Untucked, she wanted to quit and only went along w/ it bc of the show and other competitors pressuring her to. Then when she sees herself losing the lipsync, she starts crying and decides it isn't worth it anymore. We can have our thoughts about what she should've done all day long, but it doesn't change what she did and the reasons she did it for.

As a Filipino, and knew all the references, I laughed so hard at this episode. Baron Geisler (Khianna) was known for his bad reputation in PH like SAer, drunkard and so on, but he was so good at acting as in soooo good! Maria Clara is a reference for a historcal Filipina, being demure, prim and proper. And Angel using pure Tagalog is hilarious. like she's using "ginoo," which we no longer use for calling uncles or mister now, and her "paumanhin." Angel Locsin (JF's reference) is a famous actress. Her references are her series and movie lines. Kamatayan and Bob's (Babae sa Balete) banter was also toptier! So far, the best in Snatch game are Angel, Kianna, Tita Baby, Maxie and JF. They played their role and banter with other queen in hilarious way. Overall, all of them are chaotic.

Yudipota's circumstances, she already prepared for the drag race and spent a lot of money, so not quitting on day 1 was her strategy to obtain that "return of investment", so being iconic for 4 episodes paid off. That's my realistic view on her side of things. Like she already arrived on the set, then found out that her luggage was lost, she's already about to start filming, might as well milk what you can obtain from the opportunity in front of her. Sadly, the competition affected her mental health but anyhow, still love her - Our walkout queen. 🤭

i'll try to summarize the snatch game references:
John Fedellaga - Angel Locsin (Filipina actress)
She referenced some of Locsin's movies and films, all of which were delivered perfectly. Locsin starred in "The Legal Wife", where her character had a husband who had another wife, hence the "Because he was never yours, Nicole! My husband is mine, Nicole!" line. She also starred in "Lobo" where her character turns into a wolf. The rest of the references I do not know what films they were from, but John's acting was worthy of pulling her to the top. She caught Locsin's mannerisms perfectly, especially the "hmm?" parts.
Maxie - Bob, short for Babae sa Balete Drive (White Lady in Malete Drive, local horror story)
Maxie did a brave decision portraying a ghost from local belief, but she did it justice. The ghost jokes were hitting. She also mentioned "Mumuland", a callback to the K-pop group Momoland whose popularity boomed in the Philippines with their hit song "Bboom Bboom", sang during Maxie's segment to which she danced to (although in a ghost-like manner). She also did an ongoing bit as an office assistant of Tita Baby's Grim Reaper, another ethereal being, which was such a good call for both of them. The UA-cam channel "Paranormal Activities" is a callback to the horror movie series of the same name.
Myx Chanel - Rufa Mae Quinto (Filipina actress and comedienne)
A bit of a refresher, Rufa was also portrayed during Season 1 of DRPH by Eva Le Queen, which put a lot of pressure on Myx to do well. Myx is Eva's drag daughter (if I'm not mistaken), she was going to impersonate a recurring character in Snatch Game, and the Season 1 portrayal was too iconic to be portrayed again. She delivered her jokes as best as she could, but none of them topped the first Rufa. I personally do not know if the jokes were referencing some of Rufa's films or just an interpretation of Rufa's jokes, but she did her best. Her top jokes for me was the "Part 1, Part 2" bit, where Maxie and John participated, and the "sampaltite" one, where Angel and Khianna participated, although she only pulled this from Eva's "tampalpuke" joke. Diving deeper, tampalpuke is an actual Filipino name for a species of fish, and also a play of words (tampal = another form of "sampal" which means slap, puke = vagina). Sampaltite, on the other hand, does not mean anything besides slap and tite, which means penis.
J.Quinn - Confucius (Chinese philosopher)
While I have yet to know if there were other choices, portraying a character only found in history books and (non-Filipino) general knowledge was... a choice. J.Quinn also did her best with the jokes, but most of them were irrelevant to the character, in my opinion. Khianna said it best, her Confucius left me confused. Star City is an amusement park in the Philippines, which burned in 2019 and reopened in 2022. Maybe the mahjong joke was the closest reference to her character, I don't know.
Khianna - Baron Geisler (Filipino actor)
Her portrayal of Baron was also amazing, from the mannerisms of someone with a history of misconduct to the fierce references of his films (that's why Khianna was already apologizing out of fear to Baron in her Untucked confessional LMAO). Similar with John, I do not know which films the references were pulled out from, but the overall acting was amazing, including her conversations with Angel, Bench and Maxie. Baron was known for alcohol-related charges, hence the quick banter with Bob about pissing on the Balete tree.
Popstar Bench - Sarah Geronimo (Filipina singer)
Sarah Geronimo is a household name in the Philippines, known for her iconic songs (like "Tala"), music-related awards and show appearances, one of which is The Voice Kids Philippines where she starred as a Song Coach (Kyle Echarri, the episode's guest judge, had Sarah as her Song Coach). Moving on to that one segment about the milk, Sarah was known to appear in commercials about a product from Bear Brand, a famous powdered milk brand in the Philippines. Instead of a bear, the milk carton has Bernie (DRPH S2 finalist) in it, hence Bernie Brand. Vovomax (vovo = other term for "bobo" which means stupid, and max = short for maximum) is a play on words based on Vivomax, a Filipino streaming platform known for being used for films that are not... family-friendly, hence the "rack superstar" joke. The apology Bench gave in the confessional refers to Sarah's issues with her controlling parents, especially her mom who allegedly used her as a cash cow during her early years of fame; Bench used the names of the parents in the apology (Mommy Divine and Daddy Delfin) while using her voice for Sarah. Popstar Bench is also known for impersonating Sarah Geronimo on her drag occupations, so she did it flawlessly here in Snatch Game.
Angel - Maria Clara (character from the novels of Jose Rizal, the Philippines' national hero)
She deserved the win for this challenge. Maria Clara is described in the novels as a kindhearted woman (graceful, modest, conservative, very mindful, very demure and all that), and was set as an example by older generations for young Filipina ladies to act like her. Angel basically bent (if not destroyed) that example with her portrayal of a more self-confident, open, and sex-positive version of Maria Clara in our modern world (the novels were created during the 1800s). The social issues being tackled by Jose Rizal's novels were different compared to now, and as such the certain behaviors and attitudes of the characters in the novels should change as well, and Angel did an amazing interpretation. She found the balance for Maria between knowing gay lingo and being very vocal about her preferences in a relationship (in the modern world), and having the attributes of being kind, modest, and a Filipino sense of being well-spoken (in her generation, like nobody says "pardon me" anymore LMAO). Besides her portrayal, her bits with the other queens were done perfectly. Maria's bit with the Grim Reaper about a very old Filipino senator who is memed to be older than the dinosaurs (and the novels, explaining Maria's familiarity with the senator), her vulgar actions with Baron Geisler, and that one bit with Sarah Geronimo about the milk. Angel was known to have a huge crush on Kyle Echarri, hence the "Ginoo, titikman" ("My good sir, I'd like to try") bit.
Tita Baby - Grim Reaper
The Grim Reaper is a very known character, which gave Tita a big advantage: all of her jokes would be understood immediately. Similar to Maxie's Bob, the dead jokes were landing perfectly, and her banter with everyone gave her a boost to reach the top placement for the week. Tita's created storyline with Maxie about the employer-employee relationship of the Grim Reaper and Bob was a quick and good call, her banter with Zymba's Wilma was also funny, her bit with Angel's Maria Clara about the senator was also understood by the Filipino audience, and that one part where Tita shut Bench up by pulling her with the scythe was amazing.
Zymba Ding - Wilma Doesnt Pa Rin (Wilma Still Doesnt, referring to Wilma Doesnt, Filipina actress)
Wilma Doesnt is known for starring in comedy films and other movies, but as Kaladkaren uttered, is not a household name. Myx Chanel mentioned that Wilma Doesnt is known for not giving energy in her films, having a more monotone attitude and voice. Mama Pao also referred to Zymba's impersonation as a bit offensive, since her jokes relating to Wilma were pulled from Wilma's appearance. For example, that one bit where Wilma had brushes in her hair didn't land on the audience well as it appeared to be imitating or mocking people with curly hair. I do not know which films were referenced in the posing bit and the broom bit.

the reason why Angel won imo was because she portrayed Maria Clara in a way that people never expected her to be. Just to give a reference, Maria Clara here in the Philippines is the epitome of very demure Filipina women wherein for the past hundred years, women in the Philippines were being boxed for that character and Angel being portrayed Maria Clara in that way, it’s a progress especially here in the PH that most of the people (mostly the boomers) think that every women should be Maria Clara.
Yesss and Angel mentioned during the consultation with John that she'll be portraying the modern side of MC
Also in addition, Maria Clara, who is the character of Angel, represents the women and ladies that we have today that are not afraid to show some skin, bold, sexy, confident, but still can be demure and shy at the same time. So there are a lot of significant messages behind her character and actions while still being funny. In conclusion, her character is still there; it's just not the usual Maria Clara that we see on TV.

Hi Miss Valery let me explain the characters of the girls in the Snatch game who did very well.
John's character was Angel Locsin (a famous actress in PH) and she is referencing the characters and lines that the actress portray in her movies and series. For example the Lobo (fox or werewolf) - which is like a lady transform into a Wolf.
Then when she jumps off the podium, she portraying the character Mulawin which is a Bird Lady.
Next is Maxie which is obviously a Ghost that is very well known in our country. Its an urban legend ghost that haunt drunk drivers in that specific street which is the Balete Drive Street.
Angel's Maria Clara is a character in a novel which our National Hero Jose Rizal (Maxies Episode 1 - Home town realness reference) wrote during the Spanish Colonial Era. (Noli Me Tanghere and El Felibuzterismo) Maria Clara is a representation of a pure, fine and a very demure Filipina women. Angel did a different approach on her portrayal. Its like she doesnt want to be "prim and proper" anymore and she wants to experience "lust and sex" which is kinda different on the Maria Clara we used to know.
Tita Baby is the Grim Reaper but she added a twist on it - shes a Business Women Grim Reaper and she protray like the boss of Maxie (Ghost) which is her employee. The picture she shown was Senator Enrile - which is known to be the oldest senator in our country (and hes still alive and Tita baby makes fun of it because hes like so strong that he is still alive even though hes age is going to be 100)
Khiannas character was Baron Geisler which is a famous actor in the Philippines but this actor involves in some controversial issues. Khianna nailed it and that "NASAN ANG SABAW" is a reference on a drama he made before.
Indeed this is the most chaotic and best snatch game so far for the Franchise.

I feel like it gets lost in translation. Cause people think Angel is just being Angel in the snatch game. But throughout the snatch game, Angel was speaking in very formal, old timey tagalog, (kinda like Shakespearean) and incorporating some modernized terms with it for comedic effect. So she was very on character as Maria Clara. The subtitles tried , but was not consistent with translating the way Angel was speaking. Just for context on what she was doing with her character.

I've been a fan of yours ever since your reaction to Drag Race Philippines Season 1. I really like how you share your thoughts, and I hope you keep doing it the same way. You never said anything wrong (cuz every viewer's opinion is valid, especially if it is shared without malice). Personally, I felt the same way about Yudipota. I love her, but it was true that when she did slip up a bit she had this "f it, i dont need this" attitude. Still, I understand that it can be really hard to put in extra effort and time to make something for the runway after losing her luggage. She probably felt the most pressure and stress while competing in that competition.

John Fedellaga goes with Ms. Angel Locsin a veteran actress in the Philippines where she's the leading role to a lot of characters Queer people grew watching, hence one of the famous faces in the country. John channels all of the reference for the character , which we immediately recognize that's why it is so funny.
Maxie's character is the woman in Balete Tree who's infamous to be seen there making the drive street more haunted.
Khianna's character who is Baron Geisler who was known as a villain character in all Television shows, who also shows problematic behavior in the days resulting into rage scandals (but who is cleared and sober now).
Zymba's character is Wilma doesn't who's known because of her last name "doesn't" and whe she got married her husbands last name is "parin" which is translated into (parin = again), Wilma is also an actress and was know in ages for years.
Pop Star Bench - Did her idol Sarah G Geronimo, the one she's impersonating. the face was very the same, but the jokes were kind of flop.
Myx - Did the character, Eva Le Queen's portrayed during season 1.

I always assumed everything at the beginning of this video, and it makes sense that not everybody has that mindspace about reality TV. Cmon Valery Angel is acting that way towards Jquinn is because they know each other outside the competition Angel feels like what Jquinn is showing/acting on the show is normally not how she is outside as someone who knows her in a personal level, so therefore, yes, they are friends outside.
Good point.. You may have missed it Val but Angel spoke about how they interact in real life at the clubs etc.. and even knew J Quinn’s tipping habits lol. That outside relationship is probably why they were able to have a mature discussion about it later. Kudos to them!

angel's role was actually quite revolutionary because maria clara, a character written decades ago, was seen as the "perfect filipino woman" - demure, modest, quiet, respectful, pure. but this has been widely contested by filipino women because it is not an accurate representation of women, and these stereotypes put them in a box. angel said she wanted to represent the modern maria clara (albeit to the extremes) - sex positive, capable of being loud, etc. which is why it is so widely celebrated ❤
my favorite this snatch game was tita baby, but angel's win was very well-deserved as well! she still kept to her character because she was using very deep, formal filipino, which didn't translate properly in the subtitles.

I was honestly waiting for a double win (Angel and John). However, after watching it 3 times, yes Angel devoured. She was the funniest and her energy was infectious. I would like to clarify to international viewers that Angel was committed to her character even until the end (beginning- Prim and proper Maria Clara, middle to end- Modern Maria Clara). She maintained Maria Clara's mannerisms/nuances until the end like Paumanhin (I'm sorry), Ginoo (Mister) and deep Filipino words that we don't oftenly use in the modern world.

Side note: Zymba did not remove her ensemble intentionally, wardrobe malfunction has occurred (rewatch it). That's why she removed it because it fell off already and might affect her entire performance.

Don't mince your words bc you're afraid, if ppl disagree with you over something bc they feel you're not taking something into account they can just treat your opinion with less weight. Unless u wanna change that way to become a more emotionally in-tune person, there's no point. You're right where a lot of these differences in our perceptions come from our mindsets and culture, but I think that applies to you. A Ballroom perspective isn't necessarily more realistic or accurate than other perspectives, and ofc it's often gonna lead you to have different perspectives on Drag Race because obviously Drag Race and reality TV in general is fundamentally different from Drag Race. Doesn't mean I don't want to hear it tho, bc hearing all these different mindsets and perspectives allows you to see beyond yourself and broaden your view of issues: even if I disagree w/ you, I still want to hear it to be more informed. How am I supposed to know if someone is wrong about something if I don't even consider their opinion???
My take on Yudipota: I agree w/ you that she deserved to go home regardless, but I think she is completely within her right to quit whenever she wants. We don't hold ppl captive in competitions, if they wanna quit, quit and deal with the consequences of your actions. Your take that she should've quit when she first got there, while valuable, misses the point of feelings bc it assumes ppl act rationally all the time. Yudi wanted to push through her own doubts when she first got there bc she felt she owed it, but the stress of getting an outfit together every week while doing the maxi challenge took a toll. And then when she falls in the bottom and gets critiqued on her look, she felt like it wasn't worth it anymore. At that moment and through Untucked, she wanted to quit and only went along w/ it bc of the show and other competitors pressuring her to. Then when she sees herself losing the lipsync, she starts crying and decides it isn't worth it anymore. We can have our thoughts about what she should've done all day long, but it doesn't change what she did and the reasons she did it for.

As a Filipino, and knew all the references, I laughed so hard at this episode.
Baron Geisler (Khianna) was known for his bad reputation in PH like SAer, drunkard and so on, but he was so good at acting as in soooo good!
Maria Clara is a reference for a historcal Filipina, being demure, prim and proper. And Angel using pure Tagalog is hilarious. like she's using "ginoo," which we no longer use for calling uncles or mister now, and her "paumanhin."
Angel Locsin (JF's reference) is a famous actress. Her references are her series and movie lines.
Kamatayan and Bob's (Babae sa Balete) banter was also toptier!
So far, the best in Snatch game are Angel, Kianna, Tita Baby, Maxie and JF. They played their role and banter with other queen in hilarious way.
Overall, all of them are chaotic.
