As a kid behind our house was a sheep field. A house that once stood in the field was gone. The remnants of the basement was all that was left. Under the trees out away from the house crocus appeared all over, followed by narcisis and Lilly of the Valley. I plant bulbs every year because of this. The naturalized bulbs can outlive a house and it's owners. Beautiful!

My favorite bulb story: When I first moved into my home, the yard was a mess. My mom had an abundance of daffodil bulbs so she shared a bunch with me. I planted where I could but still had probably 50 left over. I put them in a bucket in the garage and forgot about them. The next year when cleaning out the garage, I figured the bulbs were a lost cause so I dumped them in a pile on the side of my house where I typically put dead foliage or cuttings. Those bulbs are the best bloomers of anything I have. Every year since, they are the first and longest of the spring bloomers. I never even buried these suckers! They bring me so much joy bc I think about the irony and beauty of the story.

I have 2 properties I maintain & also love to let nature take it's course. Fingers crossed I can get some bulbs to plant for future generations. I love, love, love your practical approach & experimentation! ❤❤

Bulb lawn is exactly what I'm planning to do this year. My home is a new buy so my canvas is blank and I'm trying to add as many colors in it as i can. It's a lot of hard work but also very satisfying. I'm being super patient with growing plants from seeds and bulbs. Every year i add a few plants and then wait for next season to see the results. Gardening from seeds is real meditation. 😊

Great idea to plant bulbs! Two autums ago I planted bulbs galore and the spring results was AMAZING. People would stop and take pictures of my teeny tiny little back garden so full of daffodils, tulips and other goodies. Spring #2 wasn't as spectacular. My only advice was DO NOT be disappointed when the bulbs are mislabeled, I planted what I thought were daffodils, labelled and mapped out my plantings, but the bulbs turned out to be tulips not daffodils. Thank goodness the tulips were beautiful.
