@@Chef316 you are spot on with Rodney having that unique (almost nasally) tone to his voice like George Yonce did. It also helps that he doesn't try to go lower than his full voice range, I hate when bass singers try to sing lower than they can and fry notes and completely lose tone quality, just sounds like rasp
there is studio hard work in this entire song. It's not live. I mean, the audio we are listening is not live. The cam to record that bass with this quality in gain and reverb, without bringing the ambiance noise, just Jesus to do that Lol miracles happen right?

I played your video for my English class (reading To Kill a Mockingbird). The whole class was listening, getting into it and some were singing along! You all inspired a group of non-singing students to sing. We sang with you and then we did our own improv acappella. Thank you!
I have been a fan of Rodney Britt from day one when I heard him sing at a youth gathering. BTW, That was many years ago! He is awesome. Please add many videos with him featured! This group is a great fit as a group. Loved the guy at the end!
Britt & Wes always amazing... never ever gets old!!! Love it!! Been a fan since it was just the first 3 of ya'll...still have my vsh video.... the the beige suits.... love love love it....
I'm old! The first time I heard Acappella, it was a trio, with Rodney Britt, Keith Lancaster, and Bill Spencer...back in this 50-something-year-old's college days. ;)
@@Dipaiva Crazy in that he tries to go below his bottom and turns crappy. I can match his bottom and I'm 83 years old. I don't know why these gospel basses refuse to admit their limitations and also sing a octave lower than that which produces a true harmonic chord.
J.D. Sumner is singing along I am sure! He would be so happy that talent and hard work was still carrying his art forward. There were times where he was so overbooked, he would sound so tired while he was getting ready with the Stamps, Gospelaires, who ever, when he would come to our church he would get ready in this little room where the bell pulls used to be, but below them was a secret space in the wall for the slack of the bell ropes, and I would sneak down in there and he preferred to get ready with an old hymn or two, what amazing acoustics! You guys really seem to have the joy he did, and he would love your combination of talent, hard work, and the joy you have you have imparted to this ole dying lady. Thank you and God bless.
I have NEVER heard of this group that I can recall, and I'm a huge fan of a cappella sacred music! GREAT stuff, and I feel so blessed to have stumbled across them. THAT BASS!!!
This is a mashup of different members from Acappella over the years. The tall bald bass is Rodney Britt and he sang with them in the 1980s until 1989. Check him out on the album Sweet Fellowship from 1988 and you will hear jaw dropping bass from him. You can look it up on UA-cam here. Listen to 'Well On My Way'. The Acappella lineup from 1989-1994 was amazing! "Rescue", "We Have Seen His Glory" "Growing Up in The Lord" and "Set Me Free" and "Hymns for All the World" are the albums from that Line Up. Though two of the members left by 1995 "Beyond a Doubt" is truly an amazing album too.
To think that humans who are limited can sing this great, imagine angels who are not limited by things such as needing to breathe.I imagine a praise and worship lasting thousands of years and maybe an angel holding a note for a thousand years.Maybe one sounding like a whole choir, vocal ranges that are now impossible for us humans. What a place heaven will be,to sing in the direct presence of God Almighty himself.
I really needed this. I needed to see Brothers, fellowshipping, praising the LORD; in accordance with each other, and in harmony! The LORD is using you guys mightily! Thank you to all who put this video together!
I'm really a huge fan of Britt, and I encourage you to post more featuring him prominently. McKinzie is of course great, and I don't want to take anything away from him. But Britt is really one of the few basses who really sounds so comfortable and natural down in the lower octaves. Though he may not perform or record the lowest notes when compared to other singers in gospel / a capella music, I think he is almost unrivaled in his volume, resonance, and vocal color. This is especially evident in a video like this where the singers don't have their own individual mics!
feel ya...man these guys have been have been bringing so much joy to my life since the 80's. in this video, i think its so cool to hear these two different basses. and youre right! one bass is tote's classic. the other is actually freakishly talented at a controlled vocal fry. gotta be relaxed. gotta be in control. but yeah.... lol! im a tenor but had a bad allergy attack this week and vocalized down to a low low f last week. lol! never thought it was possible and even though i could do it, it took a lot of control. check it out if ya want? The Oktavism Channel , McKenzie can or may be classified as a "basso cantante" while Britt is a definitely "basso profundo". The latter, in my opinion, rocks the foundations of the deep, while the first sails the stormy seas.
Just let Brett sing Bass while he can. That is a voice doesn't need explanation. I'm a bass singer, I sound very much like him but if I ever find myself in a situation what he's around I will let him sing. When the master is in the room The apprentices take a seat. it is beautiful though to see them share the mic with McKenzie. Mckenzie is a good singer too! I love Acapella, you guys rock for the Lord!
I can tell you are all having a Grand time making Beautiful Music. I love singing all in Harmony without musical instruments. I sang in a four part harmony group for about 5 years all gospel my Brother and our wives. Sang in Ohio & West Virginia mostly because we lived on the southern border of OH also sang in Churches in Florida when on vacation visiting our parents.
The tall bass has such a rich and controlled sound no gravel sound pure quality
@Jonathan Omwega said the same thing. Reminds me of JD Sumner and George Younce
