Bingo, we will be more of a pass heavy team but it will include lots of high percentage Completion throws to get the ball in the hands of guys like Bijan, Ray Ray McCloud, London (who is a short and intermediate route specialist), etc.

Its crazy but this plan we have is actually how Qbs coming into the league were handled back in the day. You drafted a QB and he sat behind another QB and learned how to be a QB in the NFL and the system. Look at all the QBs that get drafted and dont succeed because they get thrown in day 1.

We had an average, at best, offensive play caller. That was our downfall last year. Not all on the QB. Smith made Matt Canada look good at times. I still think Ridder can be above average. Smith even made Heinicke look worse. I applaud Smith for building a good team and for outperforming the expectations in his first 2 years. But last year, he looked lost and scared. So, so many bad play calls consistently. So many badly coached games. Also, terrible game management.

Please forgive me for copy pasting my comment from another post but IT NEEDS to be said! !!!!!
I am not a Falcon fan. I am a Lions fan. So let me say this.....
Falcon fans have been very group think on this because the first round of the draft didn't go like you thought. It didn't match what mock draft said you should do.
Falcon fans are delusional about Kirk Cousins
    FACTS............
Kirk Cousin is not some ticket to a window to the Superbowl.... he is the ticket to being above 500 and not getting your coach and GM fired. And your coach and GM knows it.
Kirk Cousin has been above average to good QB (nationally televised games he has been below average to bad)
Kirk Cousins is 78 wins to 70 losses 2 ties as a QB
In 13 years he has been involved in 1 playoff victory. ( in that one win he was so average)
At that before he won his first playoff game this is what his resume looked like.......
2-10 against teams that made the playoffs (both wins were against Eagles)
3-11-1 against teams that entered the game with a winning record (0-2-2 in overtime games)
0-9 on Monday Night Football (an NFL worst)
    ......................................................................................
He has been AVERAGE at best!!!! You are NOT guaranteed a some "window" of opportunity here. History tell us he will give you a chance to be above 500.
YOUR GM AND COACH IS SMARTER THAN YOU...................
This pick is because they believe a 2 or 3 year window of Kirk Cousins gets them above 500 and then bounced out of the playoffs if they make it. This isn't Tom Brady or Peyton Manning you guys just picked up!!!
There was no Bruce Smith, Lawerence Taylor, Derrick Thomas, Dion Sander, at that draft spot... Shawn Taylor wasn't getting resurrected to enter the draft... THE REST OF THE NFL AGREES WITH ME...with a NFL RECORD FIRST 14 PICKS ALL OFFENSE!!!!!!
This pick tell us they believe that Penix jr was their 2nd or 1st QB on their board and they rather have a 10 to 12 year window with a punchers chance.. over a 2 or 3 year window of Kirk Cousins ( a 36 year old QB coming off a Achilles tendon rupture)
    Now who sounds more reasonable?
    ......................................................................................................................................................................................
Fans complaining that they wanted full on all chips in the middle of the table for a Kirk Cousins run?
    Or
a 10 plus year window of him and a QB they firmly believe in?
    ......................................................................................................................................................................................
I think the overacting fans and media are delusional.... yall acting like Kirk Cousins will now make a leap in his career he has never at any point exhibited.
NOT the mention the falcons played 3 different QB's last year
    Browns played 5 different QB's
    Cardinals played 4
    Vikings played 4
14 NFL starters went down last year alone
66 QB's in 2023 alone played because of injury of lack of production.
FALCONS FANS YOUR GM AND COACH ARE PLAYING CHESS WHILE MEDIA AND FANS ARE PLAYING CHECKERS
There was not Lawerence Taylor or Bruce Smith at number 8 which is what you would have needed to have in order for a counter to make sense.
    WHAT ABOUT MICHEAL PENIX JR?????............................................................................................................................
The popular narrative about Micheal Penix jr's evaluation and where he ranks in my opinion was lower to the public and the mock draft community than in NFL circles and in NFL think tanks
I don't by Narratives. I am a logical thinker, I watch film as my basis for my opinion FIRST. And i watched EVERY snap of Micheal Penix jr... every false start , every delay of game, every incomplete pass, every mistake, every good play, every bad. EVERY SNAP. I compared him to historical perspectives. Like what is the precedence for QB''s in college having a clunker game like Micheal Penix vs Michigan (i am a michigan fan watched every snap of UM since 1985....... especially when Penix beat Michigan at Indiana... that is when i KNEW!!!!)
Peyton Manning vs the Florida Gators was 0 and 4.... he has brutal moments vs the Gators. In the 3rd meeting the Tennessee Vols didn't even score!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... And that was a 4 game sample size of what happens when you play superior teams at the LOS. THIS IS HOW FOOTBALL WORKS!!!!!!!
Micheal Penix Jr in my opinion is one of the MOST underrated draft prospects in a decade of the NFL draft.!!!!
We are talking about to the only QB in college football history to take two teams not ranked in the top 50 in the country on season start , to win vs teams in the top 10. This has happened 5 times in 65 years and Penix jr lead two of those wins… was close to 3 of those win leading the Indians Hoosiers too within 27 seconds of beating Ohio State #3 on the road… had 400 plus yards and five touchdowns… again INDIANA HOOSIERS!!! We aren’t talking about the basketball team…. And he was the reason why. Not just along for the ride!!!! Then took a Washington team who the year before won four games!!! With that team he loses 3 games in two years with legit same players on the team.
I look at film a lot as a hobby. I have watched every snap of the last two years of all the top 8 prospects. My take was so different. I see him as one of the most underrated QB prospects in a decade of drafting. And he has flaws , but even with those flaws I ranked him second QB in this draft.
I view him as what mark Brunnel was in 1995-96… more mobile than given credit… attacks down field… unique deep ball thrower… adult decision maker avoiding sacks and negative plays... both viewed as older qb coming out.. both had knee injuries that caused teams to be leery... .
Highly productive even though he did not throw in the red zone as often (coach scheme) .. could actually be unlocked further with coaching and scheme up lay ups in the passing game.
I am not Falcon fan.... but Yall got a coach and GM that i think honestly are playing chess and the rest of the media and fans are playing checkers

This all depends on how Penix develops. But my Gutt tells me history look back on this era and they will contrast what Atlanta did with Penix ... compared to what Chicago did with 3 staight top 5 QB's and it will be played back as "how it is done right... and what not to do"

A few things; firstly bruh,...don't come on the podcast with a beeping smoke alarm...I mean I get it, for some reason black people can't hear smoke alarm chirps but it drives me freaking insane....I may be black, but I can put a 9 volt in when it's called for.. we gotta do better. Okay now that I got that out of the way; I'm uniquely positioned in that I lived in the ATL for almost 10 years so a lot of my friends are Falcons fans. Me personally I say "SKOL" anyway, I'm glad you guys took Kirk Cousins from us... I never wanted him as our qb in the first place. He has show glimpses of stardom, hell at times I've even defended him I mean if our offense scores 30 something points but we still lose because the other team scores 30 something or 40 something how is that Kirk's fault? With that being said, I was shocked when y'all took Penix....and tbh I think the Vikings were too..because I personally think that our heirarchy was 1. Maye, 2 Penix, 3 McCarthy. and I don't think we liked or wanted Nix...that's why we panicked and traded up one spot with the Jets to get JJ. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not big on JJ... although he might end up being good because we got a lot of offensive weapons. I personally wanted Penix to the Vikes because I think he has been unfairly mocked lower than he should have been....I think the Michigan Washington game was what stuck in a lot of people's heads so there was a recency bias. The only thing I don't like is that for Penix, I think he's ready to play now or a year from now and I don't like the fact that he might have to sit 2-3 years....i don't think he deserves that.

What is this, Atlanta Falcons Pravda?
These comparisons with the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers are false, and only serve the misinformation being propagated by Fontenot and Raheem. The Penix pick would seem to be a move designed to boost their job security rather than the immediate ambitions of this roster.
When taking into account all of what they’ve done this off-season, the FO has mismanaged resources in both FA and the draft. And shown this organisation to be deceptive and untrustworthy for good measure. Why should we believe anything the regime tells us? If they actively mislead their starting quarterback, who’s next?
As of right now we have precious little redundancy at receiver, corner, safety and our pass rush is more depleted than last season. Sigh.
