Have you seen the DXPatrol Groundstation? I'm QRV on the satellite anyway but it looks a nice piece of kit for portable ops so bought one to play with along with a 35cm dish and a POTY.
Hi Willy. Probably is the short answer, but it will depend on the IF of the Bamatech POTY (I've not used one). If it's the same IF that the DX patrol Downconverter is using, then it should work. It would be worth checking the specs before you try it.
Hi Sean. I can't remember where I bought mine from, but it's basically the same as this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125049670864?var=0&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338268676&toolid=10044&customid=Cj0KCQjwlK-WBhDjARIsAO2sErR3ZtVMaVGFe3X9IkWb9yNw3yeQSSQUIRN23AAuYmYONs9vszhLCVEaApOkEALw_wcB
Hi Andy looks the job , but my arm on dish is round. Been lookin everywhere, I also have the bullseye lnb. Have you the glue inside plastic cap. I can't get it to stick to poty, cones loose after a bit. great videos by the way.
Hi Sean. I'm using the LNB from DXPatrol for the downlink and DJ7GP dual band patch feed for the uplink (only for 2.4GHz) and these both sit in the dual head bracket fine, no glue required. Thanks, glad you liked the video.
@@RTSRetroTechShed hi Andy. I have same set up except lmb. I'm on a poty. I have a big question my uplink is 70cm and down on 2m do I have to calabrate frequencies. If I'm listening on a freq my tx is off. Somewhere else. Rig is ic910h.
Hi Sean. My IF is a little off as well, so I just find myself on the downlink of the bird (sometimes, initially with the aid of the Goonhilly WebSDR) and then save Uplink and Downlink as a memory channel - that way it's easier to find my signal the next time and make small adjustments as required. Are you using a GPSDO to lock the Upconverter and Downconverter to the same reference? I found this improved my working conditions considerably.
Hi Edwin, thanks. I've only used phone/voice modes (SSB) through QO-100, but it is possible to use digital modes like PSK-31 for example. Here is a link to the band plan: amsat-dl.org/en/new-qo-100-band-plan/
the good thing about this satelite is that it cover almost half of the world and is free to use
yes, totally agree - great bird which has been a long time coming
Very neat wiring. Love the accompanying melody too - "Sleeping Satellite" by Tasmin Archer
Thanks 🙂
Nice setup Andy 👍
Thanks :) - still needs a bit of work, but getting there..

Yes, had a look at that. Looks interesting. Agree, could be good for portable sat ops. Please let me know how you get on with it
i have a bamatech poty with sma out; can i use the lower to connact the DX patrol down converter?

There is no way to tell 9700 that it has up/down converter, so it would show "real" qo-100 frequencies?
No, the 9700 doesn't support transverter frequency display unfortunately 0 that would be a nice feature
Nice work. What coax are you using at the POTY for Tx. Keith
Thanks Keith. The feed-line to the 2.4GHz antenna from the power amp is LMR400 (2 meter run)
Hello Andy... nice video! Which satellite tracking software do you use?
Hi, thanks. I usually use MacDoppler, but also Gpredict
What is the lmb holder.
