The wages and salary of the workers are not eaten by the workers and their family alone. We have alot of the unemployed and self-employeed people linked to the salary.
Measure money by value not figures.

Any wage paid to workers circulate in the country, but any money goes to the hand of politifiace travelle abroad. Pay workers reasonable amount , they can petronize business owners, country survive.

Always excellent ! Another good analysis from Dr Sam Amadi. President Tinubu has been impressive in some areas and equally disappointing in some other areas especially this area of minimum wage.
Government ought to show a bit more seriousness here. Minimum wage should not be starvation wage. How then do you expect the productivity of the workers to increase if they cannot survive on their wages ?
I think the economic argument for a good minimum wage should guide government thinking because a good minimum wage to workers will help to stimulate the economy because workers are consumers. As a result of their purchasing power they will buy more hence helping to support businesses.
One of the weakness of President Tinubu is that he looks at issues like an accountant. Cost cutting doesn’t make sense when you should be making investment the kind that will generate higher return that In turn benefit the economy. Stimulating the economy through minimum wages is a great way to boost economic growth.

Excuse me, workers are asking too much?
Why did national assembly pass increase for themselves when Nigerians are already complaining that it's one of highest paid in the world.
Why is the government throwing money around like there's no tomorrow but pay your workers peanut as if they're peasants.
I am not a Nigeria worker but just want to know

Am suggesting that FGN should adopt minimum hourly wages for both the public and private sectors Subject to review on two to four years basis just like in the Western world, USA , Canada etc My own opinion

The government is solely responsible for the current crisis as they ought to have thought outside the box, previous governments are also responsible for future problems. The salary should not be the only avenue for financial empowerment of her citizens, if the Hospitals are working and affordable if there is affordable housing, transportation, education and a whole lot, the salary can be meager but these amenities will cover for it. Its a ticking time bomb that will continue to resurface as the years go by.

NLC/TUC are being ridiculous. How many companies can pay ~N500,000 minimum wage? Even if you say it's for govt workers only, are they working harder than everyone else? The other side of increased minimum wage is mass lay-off/sacking. Let us be wise. This is MINIMUM wage we're talking about. Even LP, a party built by Labour has denounced this

    • @ray-df8bq

And you are sensible enough to understand that Labour said they are not standing fixatedly at 500k. They said they are open to negotiation and that govt should bring a reasonable offer to the table. How can you be paying somebody with family $40 (60k) as minimum wage. Where is your humanity?

Sam Amadi is always out with his tribal sentiments. His analysis is the worst have seen so far on this issue. He is talking of government side and deliberately refused to talk on the private sector or has he forgotten government cannot force private sector to pay what they can’t afford and they are right on the negotiating table to say their own side and have heard some of them on Arise station monitor by Reuben Abati that many will loose their job in their private sector that they can still adjust with little but will still be below 100k but this man is here talking rubbish as typical of him. What a tribal bigotry in him. Workers incentives were not included and the man on the other side with Abati emphasis on inflation that everything will jump above peoples expectations and the workers themselves will not enjoy it while many will also loose their job

It's unfortunate how nigerians think. If govt accepts 600k as minimum wage how does the private employers meet up? This same workers that sit at the secretariat and sale crayfish and groundnut plus Ankara is here asking for 600k. Make una dey play. I wish govt just privatize everything and allow NLC ( LP) to negotiate with employers

@donebi2756 I agree with you, but am against the solely blame on the govt while the citizens don't play their part. Nigerians are too entitled without adding any value. They tell you in abroad this and that, they don't know the much sacrifice those guys offered to get to where they are. Living wages foe the worker is acceptable but not 490k per month. It's not feasible. Also reducing the wages of political appointees will also be a welcome development
