Amazing that you have a vehicle that if it could speak could share so many stories and to think the vehicle has been a part of many working man and woman's life's and passengers life's a truly great great vehicle to own
Many happy memories of riding in H&D Leyland Nationals whilst on holiday in Bournemouth.. used to get a week rover ticket & trundled all over the network .. glad to see you are bringing this beauty back to life.
Amazing amount of changes this National as seen.....I must say the NBC two tone is the best I've ever seen on the Nationals.....great video and music choice 👍
I loved this seeing it through such differing eras through to the 21st century. It's weird how it looks well ahead of it's time yet of it's time in a way. A very modern shape for all time. PS 4th July 1976 was my father's 34th birthday!!
We had these buses in Tasmania back in the day I road on the buses to go to school I loved these buses they had there own style they looked great on the road blue a little smoke and a little loud but a great bus 👍🕺
This is the strangest thing... As a pupil at Ashley Infants and Ashley Junior school, our local school trips were always on a Wilts and Dorset liveried Leyland National. It would be wonderful to think that this bus may have been the very one I spent many happy times aboard. I can still remember how she sounded, the onboard noises and the distinctive scent...
Well, I started infants in 1985 and then went to juniors in 1987 before going to to secondary school in 1992. God does that ever sound a lifetime ago! It would be awesome if she was the bus my schools used way back then... Perfect soundtrack to your film of pics by the way!
@@mattcurtis1944 according to my records she was at Lymington from May 1988 until October 1991 and then reinstated again January 1992 until September of that year so yes it does seem quite likely you would have been on her at least once.
Possibility that I drove that. I was based at Poole in 1986/87. Must admit that I hated the Nationals though, you could never get a smooth gear change. Much preferred the Bristol REs.
I'm from Northern Ireland but my dad was from Sussex but his family moved to Hampshire and my dad was a bus driver for a former company known as hants and Dorset and drove for Ulster bus in Northern Ireland for Ulster bus he drove Layland Lapperds and Bristol REs
@@antpoulton1990 I used to see Tim at Max Cafe on the hcvs bacon butty run nr Reading but the cafe has sadly gone now. Also used to go to Alton bus rally.
30 bloody years absolutely astounding and bloody beautiful sorry for my language by absolutely love the mark ones

I don't think I ever saw one in post-privatisation W&D livery. It looks good in that.

Its quite possible as she was allocated there a couple of times so depends on what years we're talking about!!!

That wouldn't be Ashley as in Bristol Ashley junior/infants would it ?
@@colliecandle no Ashley which is in between New Milton and Lymington in Hampshire

Once owned in preservation by a friend of mine Tim. Nice to see it in original H&D livery. A good looking bus
Tim Wild? Haven't seen or spoken to him in years, how is he these days?

That was just so sad seeing the last picture
Ah yes, but that was when she was being stripped down to rebuild and as we know, shes still around and in generally good health twelve years on!!
I am trying to rack my brains who the operator was when it was seen in Chelmsley Wood (borough of Solihull), I do recall the colours.
Caves Bus Services, was bought for preservation initially from them when they ceased trading
@@antpoulton1990 Ah yes, Caves.
i swear they play this music in arcades
If they don't then they definitely should!!

It was used in my late brothers passing out parade video when he joined the Parachute Regiment at Aldershot. I hadn’t heard in years until now.
