I was in fashion design school in early 80’s. I fell in love with YSL style and grace. He was my mentor. They will never be another YSL. He was so talented.
All these homes are great and populated with art. I love his ability to seek nature around him, so many gardens and plants with flowers, such as his water lilies. Truly terrific taste.
my favorite was, no doubt, the normandy house---both the inside and outside. my reasons are many, but particularly, i adore the architectural ornamentation, which reminds me of the gingerbread houses and the storybook houses of the late nineteenth century. the inside architectural jewels, spacing, coziness, and nesting spaces are just what i love in these rare finds. eye-lash windows, sharp vertical lines, materials, dormers w/ 30 to 35 degree angles---what else could one desire---forget the open concept jazz.
The Normandy chateau was a personal favorite. The color theme bedrooms were very special. I have tried to achieve the same concept in my own home. On a much smaller scale of course! I love the layers of texture, color, and furnishings. So beautiful!
I am going to cheat and say *_All of them._* I love the _Winter Garden_ in Normandy, the _impressionist_ themed rooms in Paris, and everything entry and first floor in _Marrakesh._ I live in Phoenix and that Marrakesh theme will work nicely here.
Los tiempos pasados, por desgracia nunca volverán, pero el recuerdo a través de documentos como éste, nos recrean en la belleza, con la que grandes personajes adornaban sus vidas. Gracias
All the homes are as elegant, sumptious and at the same time cosy as everything about YSL. And yet, the chateau in Normandy turns out my personal favourite of all the three, even though I'm not much of a fan of Claude Monet and all those waterlillies of his. Thanks a lot for this breathtakink tour!
Thank you so much for this very informative and beautiful channel! I desire for you much success in your endeavors. All the design inspiration is just .. well everything!
To say that less is more is only stated by those who cannot afford more. YSL has an eye for the extraordinary in both his professional and private life. Fortunately, he also had the money to sustain his eyesight. In the history of fashion houses, YSL will always be a contender in the top ten.
We went to Jardin Majorelle in Marrakesh last month. When we inquired if we could see the interior of Villa Oasis, we were told it cost $3000 to view it & by appointment only.
Watching this series of videos on the homes of the great fashion designers, it seems that they all subscribed to the design ethic of "Nothing exceeds like excess!" Beautiful but way overstuffed. One item in the "cottage" that I would love to own (like it would fit in my little apartment) is that black La Corneau stove. Excellent video, but you are leaving something important out (purposely?): a lot of these collections were the work and taste of YSL's partner Pierre Berge.
Completely true!!! They all are beautiful and overstuffed!! And Thank you!! Also, You are completely correct Pierre Berge was a very intelligent and creative man!! I just chose to focus on YSL solely for UA-cam’s sake and others understandings
@@CulturedElegance While I can understand omitting that issue from the videos on Givenchy and Lagerfeld since no one played the same part in their lives and businesses, I don't feel that one can truthfully discuss YSL without Berge.
I believe you are right! But unfortunately I didn’t realize the depth of his involvement in the design and curation of those homes when making the video and learning about them
YSL HAD GREAT TASTE ESPECIALLY IN WOMAN´S HIGH FASHION. THE HOUSE IN PARIS, NOT SHOWN HERE, WAS MY FAVORITE. P.S. I HATE MOST MODERN DESIGNERS BUT YSL HAS THAT SPECIAL ECLAT. ONE MUST BE CARFUL OF FILLING HOUSES WITH JUST TO MUCH STUFF IN EVERY CORNER. IT IS CLAUSTROPHIC.
Peccato che le due teste del palazzo d'estate, comperate dal sarto Saint Laurent, appartenessero alla Cina. E fortunatamente, le due teste sono tornate in Cina.

There's a lot of detail in these homes!!!!
Breathtaking!

So beautiful. I love all your videos! 🤍
Thank you so much!!!!
All of them beautiful
All of them are unique with great personality
AWESOME ``````
Gorgeous bold bohemian😍
marvelous ❤
To me every room looks like he went to an antiques shop and purchase everything in sights.
Yves is what the universe gives us when it is showing off...
That was fun 🎉
I like the maximalist look, however I cannot afford such luxury. It is beautiful.
Some parts I like, especially the house in Normandy, but the rest oomph, each to their owns. However, I love, looove his gardens.
Cannot deny deep envy of a queen with a self encrusted crown💯🤣

He was an amazing designer!!
Crap!
The house in Normandy !

The Moroccan home was lovely. The others were too much - visually exhausting.
6:30 Yikes. 😅 I would hate to be the guest assigned to the red bedroom! It could keep me awake all night!
Would love to know the name of his decorator
A bit over the top for me but all the spaces have ideas for everyone.

I show the Paris apartment in my previous video! Loved reading your comment
I much prefer the understated elegance of Hubert de Givenchy.
I love it, if i had unlimited money and everyone i knew hated children i would live like this.
Suffocating, no room for the eye to rest!

"A Gypsy Camp."
Nice to see but a little too cluttered.
Now he lies in the same dust as all the other homeless people of the world. Rest in peace.
Epuisant. Trop museal !
Cluttered and overdone……..he has obviously never heard of less is more!

Yves was a maximalist, that's why. Matter of tastes !
Thank you for showing these beautiful houses. Such beautiful interior design.
Hideous. Too dark.
What gives you the right Just wait to your hour of death...
Oh my, saturated colors, too many design motifs crammed into a room, too heavy, too ornate to the point of yuck. Red bedrooms nightmarish.
