I finished reading the last chapter of the series. Man, I can't even explain it, Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria, is a masterpiece, its gorgeous, I really thankfull that I can experience something good as that novel. I'm of course buying the 7 volumes in Amazon, fuck it that is in japonese, i need to suport the creator of this godness series.
"Oomine Dayia isn't that important" yeah say that again after reading all the 7 volumes :^3 btw nice review, this ln series is just awesome, no way to describe it

Funny thing is i been using this profile picture for more then 4 year without realise it from light novel character. i definitely gonna buy that light novel
this is the only light novel i have ever read but i have to say its a must read all 7 volumes are just mind blowing amazing Loved it....its the best a very fitting romance and a very solid conclusion which is very hard to find imo.
I tired reading this when i was 12-13 years old, but failed and i didn't feel like continuing. Now, one year after (14), i read it again and i am soooo in love. I couldn't stop reading it and it totally took over me. To me it's 10/10
Joey, almost all characters, including Oomine Daiya, have been developing through volumes. On the first volume it's not so necessary to develop him because... well, it's part of suspense for the rest of the series. You must read the other volumes and re-think about side characters development. In the other hand, I like your critical analysis in general and yes, it's hard to read, but amazing because of it too. It confronts several aspects of human ethics/behavior, social dilemmas and publishing industry issues (i.e. cliché and chapters loop) all the "times". P.S.: Don't get upset with the seventh volume, the last one. Makes sense repeat the stuff on first volume because of the distorted Kazuki's point of view that was developed through time (not only at novel, but in the past in flashbacks).
I wanted to see weekly reviews of anime like Akame Ga Kill, SAO 2, Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo ESP, Aldnoah Zero, Zankyou No Terror, One Piece :) and Hunter x Hunter ending in 2 weeks ;-; ..Now that I listed them. I can't believe how much anime I'm caught up with XD Regardless, these are still fun to watch! I can think of a lot of anime, but I want to be accurate. You got an anime list of shows you watched?
Takehood Im gonna be honest with you, i dont fucking undestand my last comment to. I mean WTF? Who I was talking to? Maybe i wanted to replay to other dude, sorry
Shaft will be a good studio if it will gonna get an anime adaption. I mean,if Shaft was be able to animate the "darkness" in Monogatari, then they will gonna be able to adapt "O".
Recently I've bought 4 volumes of it because of nostalgia and because of new official translation of it to my native language I really like it I hope more people will know about this book and will read it
So basically, it has a similar story as higurashi and part of kagerou days. lol Higurashi is a bit different, but it isn't really linear either, however season 1 and the first arc of season 2 are just the first reliving so you can understand what the main character has to face in the rest of the anime from then on. After the introduction chapters it jumps from random fragments to other random fragments, to the final 2 fragments. This series is basically exploring the time travel aspect of that a little more whereas higurashi is a mystery novel. Also having useless side characters is important in this kind of story. Not every character has to be important or even have a point to them existing because real life is the same way. Just cuz your best friend in second grade isn't in your class in third grade. That doesn't make him less or more important to your story. Unlike dragonball where you expect the characters to do something, you shouldn't expect things from the characters in this kind of anime. Just kinda absorb it.
well more like higurashi and groundhog day are similar stories. Rather than mixing them they both are similar to utsuro no hako. These stories are pretty awesome. Also recommend checking out Sword Art Online season 2 for more horror/mystery elements. I know you didn't really like sword art online season 1 but season 2 is fucked up and awesome at the same time. Plus you may like Sinon more than the other characters.

Hey Joey I know I am late but I just finished the first volume and man was it a trip Keep ur good work of the present up its nice to go back in time and watch very old vids like this
I'm learning Japanese and reading this book now. On one hand the vocabulary isn't too hard but on the other hand it's beyond weird. It reminds me of the book House of Leaves which I read a lifetime ago (or so it seems). Maybe not the best book to learn Japanese on but I'll take it over the other light novels I've tried.. a lot seem like they use a lot of vocabulary to compensate for a lack of creativity (maybe it's me though.)
I remember reading it a long long time ago. And I honestly don't remember any of the characters nor the story, all that's left is the aftertaste that it was something amazing and sucked me in deep. (not talking about sex here btw). I'm still puzzled why there's no anime adaptation.
Why so many people think some stuff is confusing, yet I see it clearly? Because that's literally what Joey is reminding me of when he says, "young readers would find it confusing", since I read it, but i didn't find it confusing and hard to read at all.
It makes sense in the end but that did seem to be the intent at the start, its just that once youve read it decently far it should make enough sense, basically by the time an arc finishes

Hey Joey you should do a review on a light novel series called kagerou days. It a weird kind of light novel but it is good and when you said the protagonist had to repeat the days over and over again it kind of reminded me of kagerou days. You could review the anime but I hate it a lot cause it is nothing like the manga and it was made by Shaft. I like shaft but I really hated the way they made the anime. I'm aware that an official English version has just been released but many people here have already read it so do most of you guys know Japanese and so read the series in Japanese or was there some English fan translation online somewhere once before? I don't intend on reading this series btw, just curious.
