Sort of true, but Leblanc, Fignon and Mottet were the 3 places above him in 1991 and none of them used EPO (Leblanc got eliminated in 92 Tour riding clean with Lemond and he then started taking EPO with Festina in 1994). Mottet was squeaky clean and Fignon was known not to have used EPO, similar to Lemond
Merckx was partially right though. LeMond only shown up in Tour de France, and World Championship. But that by circumstances, not choice. LeMond said it himself he was never the same after hunting accident. Also, LeMond before hunting accident could, and did won any races all season long.
Well no, but he did race with a back that was knocked awry, and a twisted pelvis after his crash at Blois. From that day on, he would never stop adjusting his saddle, as he was never comfortable on the bike again. Still though, it’s not a shotgun blast…
WOW...these were the best years of cycling...early 80s to early 90s
Enjoyed these years so much. Panache and grit of Greg. Sad loss of Thierry Claveyrolat.
LeMond was beaten in 91 and onwards by riders using EPO.

As above said, Mottet had as good rep as LeMond when came to doping. Leblanc was not yet. Fignon wasn't known to use EPO
Imagine if Lemond never got shot? And always had a team that supported him completely? At least 6 tours, without a doubt..
Impressive Greg kicked ass on Chiappuchi, notorious EPO user.

Eddy Merckx said Lemond ain’t that great of a cyclist.
Lemond said Eddy Merckx has never been shot in the back by a shot gun

@@CyclingGod173 Lemond missed 87-88
And they laughed at him when he came back in 89. Only to win the Tour and the Worlds
@@PInk77W1 loved the guy, and was sad to see his career end the way it did. He deserved so much better than to get destroyed by a bunch of juicers.
Last era of steel
Epic day for Lemond and Indurain
Indurain natural performance 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
If not for the hunting accident, surely Greg Lemond would’ve won 5 TDF titles?
Almost certainly. Also might lasts longer than he did too given Hampsten still relevant in 93 when EPO started to hit it peak

@theeverlastingspiral9617 true, but I think he's referring to how hard Indurain had worked for Delgado throughout the Alps and Pyrenees.
14:14 ..dude, cool stunt roll lol
La passation de pouvoir entre M. Indurain et Greg Lemond !
the beginning of the end....
Little did any one know that Indurain would go on to five wins
Little did anyone know you could go from 81st to 2nd at the TDF in one year.
