    I’m trapped in a job in which I’m told what to do, even though the person who manages me doesn’t have any idea, and of course you can’t complain or make any constructive criticism. It’s a company and a job without any kind of future. If I haven’t quitted yet it’s because of the salary to pay the bills, of course, but if not I totally would quite today. My dream is to start a digital business and start working on my own. I hope one day I can be in this position like you. This video has been really inspiring ❤

    Truly inspirational story. Most people go to college believing that they are owed their dream job after graduation, instead of deciding to use what they learned to create their own opportunities.

    • @carolinesromancereads
      @carolinesromancereads 26 днів тому +3

      I understand what you’re saying but not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to create their own opportunities, and these things are often out of our control. And actually, it is people’s right to be able to work and make money because otherwise we’d be homeless. I’m stuck in two crappy retail job that don’t earn me enough money or hours and I earned a college degree, why should I have to work retail? I was the last semester to graduate before covid and never stood a chance.

    • @lopche808
      @lopche808 19 днів тому +1

      @@carolinesromancereadsagain, college degree’s are only a tool, they usually don’t guarantee anyone dream jobs and they won’t guarantee you to not have “two retail jobs.” It’s the skills and work ethic developed throughout years in college that help in achieving your dream job or goal.

      There has been a lot of layoffs in the tech sector due to the over hiring in during covid. Given the cost of living crisis and high inflation I'm skeptical there's a huge market for this new wave of product designers with people prioritizing feeding themselves.

    Hello,
    I recently quit my architecture firm to start my own studio and it is rewarding with the work that I am able to do, with the projects I am able to work on . But there is always this tinge of fear of what’s next after a project ends - despite having a more rounded life in all aspects since my departure for my desk job , I often worry. I am glad to come across others regardless of the field to see doing so much better and it motivates me. Thank you . Cheers 🥂

    I still remember finding ya when ya started doing coding stuff during late 2020. It's been a fun journey watching ya evolve through the years though Maisy into a indie business through the years. Also finding you helped me to not only stick with coding, but also get back into other hobbies as well such as 3D enivorment creation learning and gamedev on the side as other hobbies. I also hope someday to start up my own indie studio in the upcoming future. you've been a inspiration. I would love more videos like this on indie entrapanuritships. :)

    Hey! I started following you after I saw your shorts. I'm a software developer, but I was actually between Creative Writing / Computer Science when I was entering College. I feel pretty similar to you. I enjoy creating things or exploring things rather than actually doing software development. I've been in the field for almost a decade, and I've decided to go back to school to grab an anthropology and creative writing degree.

    I spent 10 years in retail trying to find my true purpose after college. During that time I was making UA-cam videos and posting on social media which turns out makes me so much happier. Of course living in a traditional life style, I chose to keep working for the money that caused my mental health to take a huge dive. Growing up in my generation, I felt like a failure because every one else was moving on to their high paying careers while I was still confused. Now I am almost 30, burnt out, and not wanting to return to the workforce. Social media has definitely changed so much that now people can make a living off of it and pursue their dreams. Your videos have always been inspiring and motivational to me and maybe this is a sign to go back to what makes me happy. :)

    As a woman in STEM I totally get not feeling as valued as my male counterparts. I’m outnumbered and I have different life responsibilities as a mother of four so I don’t have the same capacity to work the same hours. Sometimes I spend hours in the evening and weekends catching up with my projects and that’s exhausting. I’m hoping to eventually replace my income with other creative projects like creating content for UA-cam and then I can just do design work on the side on my own cozy terms 😉

    This is so cool. You've created some amazing things! I resonate with what you're saying, it feels similar in that you are driven to create things out of knowing it could be better or like just the way you want it. Computers allow me to do all of that *for free* which I think is why I was drawn to it so heavily, but the lustre was gone once it was doing other peoples things, their way; not that I want to disparage the work I do as not being important or meaningful. It's just not deeply aligned with those dreams.

    I’m torn between going to college to study web-development, and staying home building projects alongside professional qualifications.
    However, I’m starting to learn that experience is invaluable, and I already have so many ideas that I have a strong passion for. You are an inspiration!!

    It's interesting I found this channel while going through a transition myself; my startup is currently trying to get acquired and I'm sort of at an impasse where either i should get a new job or just take a break from the workforce entirely. I've been working in application development (front end, back end, cpp, etc.) for 9 years now and I've been feeling uninspired by it.
    I've always felt really happy when pursuing my own projects which is what I'm doing now. I'm actually really considering going back to get a masters in EE because of my frustration with not being able to break into jobs that are doing some really cool stuff like in reverse engineering and fpga development. I don't really know what will happen in the future but I'm excited regardless. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Hearing you speak so highly of your family and the journey you've been on is really touching and inspiring. Breaking out of the mold that society places on you can be a very defeating journey, but I'm glad it only fueled your passion and desire to make something for yourself! Thank you for sharing!

    Girl, I've actually cried (I'm still crying xd) when you've shown the graph and said you definitely not want to spend less time with family, because I am the exact same. My family is my world. I would even say my family are my actual true friends, my best friends, specially my mom. In fact, I spend most of my time with her, more than 5 hours a day for sure. Most of the time, whenever I have free time I spend it being with my mom, because we're basically the same and even our differences make us stronger and we always learn from each other; also, we enjoy the same things: K-Pop, animals, UA-cam videos, design and art, philosophy and psychology... We're the same in almost everything. So, I can definitely feel how it must be for you, the need to stay with your family and loved ones.
    I wish all the best to the three of you, I hope you succeed wonderfully

    Hi Maisy! I originally watched your videos for your Cozy desk setup (cause honestly your work space is so cute!!) as well as my curiosity to see you code. I still feel coding is an area I’m still unfamiliar with but it does interest me. For years I was thinking about what I want to do and only had two things in mind; Design and Technology. So what could I do having those interests in mind? Through research I’ve discovered Industrial Design. Still unfamiliar about the occupation and not 100% I’ll like it, I found myself moving to California and majoring in it LOL. It was such a big risk but omg am I happy I did that because I’m so much happier and finally out of my depressive endless black hole of uncertainty. Within the major I’m able to sketch, CAD, prototype physical mockups, render, and just keep creating! I love the creative freedom to explore and design for others. Other than designing physical products I’m also minoring in UI/UX and completed my first UI/UX project! So while it’s a lot and I know I’m rambling but years ago my highschool self would have never imagined what I’m pursuing right now, both designing physical products with Industrial Design and digital products with UI/UX. Love to hear about your journey and I’m cheering for you! I’m also a believer to never chain yourself down to something and go out there and step into new opportunities because you’ll never know where it will take you! Have a great day and I’m glad you’ve found a cozy spot in your very own cozy studio 😊

    Beyond the touchy feely feel good reasons for not mass producing, it's a great narrative to attach to their products and there is a value in exclusivity. They can charge more for making less.

    Just a few years ago tech workers were kings, with generous perks, benefits and management constantly bending over to every whim. As soon as the economy went south they all showed their true colors with massive layoffs, constant threats of layoffs and push for productivity. That environment is so toxic now but the economy has claimed so many industries that it’s difficult to change to anything.
