Grinding towards the IS-7 as my first tier 10 tank. Good tank to learn how to play in the higher tier games from what I've read, seen and heard.
Agreed on the Cliff south spawn advantage. It seams to me that the team on that side has so many more good options on where to play

I bounced a fully aimed shot off the flat on side of an IS-7 in my S.Conq, as he was zipping across one of the street openings on one of the city maps, forget what the name of the map is. He, on the other hand, snap shot my commander's hatch and of course, penned while on the move and a millisecond after swinging his turret around.. Good shit..
Skill you are right. Cliff south spawn is so much better. But playing the map both sides can work. It´s always the team that has to know what to do. The more guys in your team playing 1-2 line the bigger the chances are to lose the battle.
South spawn of Cliff is way better then the north one , btw I sold my IS-7 to get the 277 and I Don’t regret it: better gun handling, dpm, penetration, speed, and even armor(anti Heat side armor, during clan wars I was over angling my side for them to shoot it with Heat and it wouldn’t penetrate)

In the second game I think the map is quite balanced because either side can rush right or left and get in the dips.
I'm a novice to WOT but IS7 was my first/only Tier 10 tank. I hope WG gives IS7 at least +5/10 more shells.

I sold my IS7 in 2012 or 2013, could not stand armor and gun. Sometimes all bounces and everything hits, sometimes you get penned by T8 and you hit nothing, that inconsistency annoyed me to no end.
The IS7 is the first tier X I got (still only got just 2 tier X's) , somehow I get that kind of matchmaking a lot with IS7 but also not doing too bad with the tank.
It is a tank that is good at brawling and can take a hit , I like the speed from it and the gun hits for nice dmg but sometimes can be very unreliable.
When you saw grille and some lights in those games I really wished you shot HE at them it has if Im not mistaking 60 pen? I mostly load HE right away when I am seeing light armoured tanks.
Last game was pretty damn good , nice big damage done !

North can make a 3 point crossfire to. Map is pretty good balanced. Both can play aggressive over east and get hull down to great that crossfire. Is7 still okay.

IS7 has some problem as 430U imo. Gun is treating you like king, or like pauper. I prefer how tight gun handling of 277 and 140 is by comparison
I would love to see the is7 in cw as a staple.
I think the team that controls sectors E3, F3 wins in most cases as they can shoot the middle and then break the stalemate in lines 1 and 2.

Skill: about is 7. Its old but still have potencial to hit hard. Is easy to carry, universal coz can be fast evrywhere.
Most of Skill's matches in his videos = defeat which makes you think he doesn't win lol.
The IS-7 is hard at times to like. It looks awesome it appears formative but it seems to lack a tiny amount with its shells but it's a great credit farmer.
IS7 is my favorite heavy - I just love it no matter what :)

I want to answer your question about how I think about the IS7: I started playing in 2011 and the IS7 was my first tier 10 tank and I absolutely hated it. I had such good times with the tanks before that: The IS3 and the IS4, just the best life. And then the IS7...it was such a letdown.
And still in 2022, after all this years I never managed to even get one mark of excellence on this one.
I think the gun is so terrible. Not the low pen, no, but the RNG is so completely random: I miss shots where I am sure they will be hits and then again just random aimless rage-shots hit. How am I supposed to work with that?

I like how everyone cry how much armor type 5 have but in the end of the day its just a meatball with no armor it had only gun but now it has nothing.

I would be ok with the IS-7 if the gun accuracy was a little better, the low pen with inability to land shots on the lower glac of tanks is some times frustrating. I added improved aiming and finally got my WR in it to 54%, before it was sub 50%
IS-7 is still great tank, turret is unpenetrable, hull bounces low caliber very often, only weakness is ammo rack
South spawn definitely better, at least 70-30 to south spawn. Also, for some reason I cant make the IS-7s gun handling work, it acts like a KV-2 for me, so I dont really like it. In general, IS-7 is still a decent tank though.
No, the south isn't vastly better on that map, at least not for that reason. The triple crossfire thing only happens if the south team plays REALLY WELL and the north, does NOT.
The south does have a small advantage along the 1-2 lines because of better lines of fire for units while hidden, but the north has a slightly better sniper nest and the H9 hideout that can be really annoying to counter for south team.
Likewise, if south plays poorly, then THEY end up in a triple crossfire from F3 and H9/G9/F9, and it can be almost as devastating.
And if whole team defends well, either of those crossfire situations can be dealt with and turn the game on them. Just a few days ago I played south and managed to get to the C8 position with 2 others while another trio took the western crossfire position. And the north team bunkered down in the middle while everyone not there in the crossfire(or fast enough) maneuvered superbly and turned it back at us, managed to put both our flanking positions in their crossfire.
We did quite some damage, but in the C8 position, we got fired at from the middle, from the sniper nest, from atop the hill and from the 3 meds that dashed via D8 to E9 and made defense utterly impossible once they came behind us. Didn't matter that they took 1-2 hits each while doing it, 2 of them were still alive when me and the other two with me were not, even if they didn't have much HP left, they still crushed us decisively.
I didn't see exactly what went on west, but their team got their other meds and light to E3, including 2 autoloaders. My team's tanks there vanished in less than 15 seconds once the north team tanks in the middle turned their guns from the brand new wrecks around me and towards the west instead.
This looks just like everytime I take out my IS-7, team gets slaughtered...

I remember when i tried to get the 2nd mark on this tank, i supposed to get my 2nd mark but when i reach 84.86% and fight 1vs2enemy jeff and i lose.. And the last 5 match i missplayed and my mark get lower to 78% and i sold it until now... Shame lol..

I've always liked more IS-4 . Even though it's not better on sheet but... there is something in this tank, that I feel like it's great.

As 3d option, could be: improved configuration, improved hardening (for more trollish armor), or improved aiming..! I don't think turbo is so beneficial, since the tank has good speed, as standard.
And a small note for the third battle. You could be win if all three of you, were trying to cap, since the other flank was already lost and the enemies were away.. Maybe not however, and certainly with no fun..! 😉

waiting for the 2nd game after putting on improved hardening I was thinking 100% you won`t get tier 8 match making because of extra HP from improved hardening equipment and thats exactly what happened- all tier X game lol
is 7 is one of the best tanks for next level players to 3 mark/100% it without any gold. The challenge was hard but not impossible and it was fun. I recommend it to anyone

By the way, an old tip from a retired commander, the enemy team health bar is way to tell whether your blind shots is connected or not.

Regarding the moving at the moment of shooting, I was referring to when there is no enemy aiming at you as this is affect the tanks that have high gun dispersion during movement,

Last time I played IS7 probably 7 years ago...did it get buffed? The gun would always bounce for me. The armor was nice but the gun just couldn't penetrate. I think it is a pile of Caku.😃

I ve got serius question. With full crew i can have on med about 430m of spoting. The optics theoreticly will give me view range about 500. But max view range is about 450. Does those extra 50m of view range give me anything? For example i can spot better people within those 450?
The maximum distance at which you can spot an enemy is 445m (not 450m). But higher viewrange can counter enemys camouflage

I still only have one Tier 8, the IS3. Would it be recommend to go for the IS7 or the Object 277. From history I have always loved the T10 (Tier 9)
