Exactly as you said. Drifting trough corner should be slower than slowing down and gripping so if they would make it right it would be perfect balance betwen the two. Gripping would be quicker but more difficult to master to not loose as much speed as by drifting. #MakeGrippingGreatAgain - Like this shit. Let the Speedy Black Man see and make that hashtag a thing.
I just love how everyone just want to jump straight to conclusion that physics are shit when y'all probably haven't even played the game yet. I swear people complain about anything in the NFS community.
"Drifting should be slower than gripping into a corner, that's how it always shoud be!" , that's all they need to know to make a game with a good handling.
Grantas M. The thing is, you didn't really countersteer in 2015, or Rivals, or MW12, or HP2010. It just did it for you. If anything, the fact that the car isn't automatically countersteering seems to be for the better, as it makes the player more sure of their inputs.
Bannerben Nope. The cars are more responsive and have less delay, and the car and manevour through the traffic a lot better without doing weird things.
I've played the trial, you really don't get it until you play it, it is WAY better than before. you can reliably control your car in most scenarios, you couldn't do that in 2015. the cars feel a lot more agile and you actually have confidence in tight weaving corners and around traffic because of it. found myself having to get over my mentality of 2015 because it's just that different and some parts of the map feel like they're designed to break you of that and show you that your car actually has your back. (shortcut through the gas station on one of the early races that you would NOT have made it through in 2015)
A Cat and Her Strong Friends : Once there lived a cat. She thought, "The lion is the strongest of all the animals. It is good to have strong friends. I shall go to the lion and make friendship with him." She did so and the lion and the cat were friends for many, many days. Once they went for a walk together and met an elephant. The lion began to fight with the elephant and the elephant killed him. The cat was very sorry. "What shall I do?" she thought. "The elephant was stronger than the lion. I shall go to the elephant and make friendship with him." She did so and they were friends for many, many days. Once they went for a walk and met a hunter. The hunter shot at the elephant and killed him. The cat was sorry, but she thought, "The man is stronger than the elephant, I see." So she went up to the hunter and asked, "May I go with you?" "All right, let us go home together," he said. They came to the man's home. His wife met him and took his gun from him. The cat saw that and thought: "Oh, the woman is the strongest of all! She can take the hunter's gun from him, and he does not fight with her. He does not even say a word!" The man sat down at the table and the woman went to the kitchen. The cat went to the kitchen, too. She decided to stay with the woman forever. That's why you always see a cat in the kitchen at a woman's feet.
Scarlo Played fh3 and the physics aint that great I mean the hanlding is fucked up so I usually end up braking to drift especially when I am going very fast...
Actually, it is a 1967 Camaro. How do I know this? The round marker lights in the grille (the 69 model doesn't have these), the taillights have 2 bars (the 69 model has 3 bars), and the 69 model has 3 groove marks in the rear fenders just in front of the rear wheel, but the 67 model does not. Also, the car has a 350 small block Chevy V8. (5.7 liters displacement for my non American friends who have no idea what cubic inches are.)
There's drifting for style and there's drifting for speed and when drift for speed it definitely beats out grip i do agree though that it should be harder to master but i can't think of a situation where grip beats drift when you drift for speed
I never really liked the weird camera angle when drifting corners in the newer nfs games, would of been nice if possible to change to the classic style (similar to mc3/nfsu2).
Can I be a total noob and ask you what game you were referring to when you said "MC3". Also I'm taking a wild guess and saying you meant need for speed underground 2 when you said "nfsu2" ? LOL, sorry maybe the sleep deprivation I'm going through is making me not being able to have an educated thought when it comes to video games right now LMAO. But if you happen to answer me thank you ahead of time.
Need for burnout hot pursuit 2010: Payback I loved 2010 hot pursuit, but that's enough. Stop this "300 km/h every corner drift that are much faster than precise grip racing with right racing lines" bullshit. Multiplayer is basically ruined! No one gonna grip, everybody gonna drift, because why would you choose to move slower... drifting is imbalanced with other words. Nerf drifting speeds and make it harder to control, maybe then it will be something decent.. I don't want to pay 60 Euros for multiplayer drift simulator.
I would just add one thing - Hot Pursuit 2010 is the only game, which has an adequate map for supporting that kind of handling model. Most Wanted 2012, Rivals, 2015, and Payback, don't have long corners to speed through. They don't have that many wide roads as HP2010 has. That kind of driving model was just suitable for the map and the speeds on HP 2010. You never had to drift at speeds like 60-70-80-90mph through tight roads in NFS HP. They were always above 120mph, and the drifts could be pulled off on wider roads. Give the map some wider roads, and most importantly - think about something like The Run, which, in terms of handling and roads, is best of both worlds. I would do everything to see handling similar to that from NFS TR - it perfectly balances drift and grip - just like NFS MW and Carbon did - sometimes it was worth to drift, but not all the time. that's why I think that the handling in today's NFSs is fucked up - because it isn't balanced at all. Even BlackPants thinks that NFS TR is amazing. Even today, I enjoy the handling model there way more than NFS 2015 or Payback. But I guess there is no way, that the handling from TR will be revived.
I totally agree with him. The Brake to drift thing just shouldn't be an option OR should be slower than gripping for the more beginner drivers and casual gamers. It's just annoying how the car gets a 20mph boost after each drift at the moment, that should be removed from the game.
When racing, I'd like the feeling of following the racing lines and use those to my advantage to cut lap times. I don't want to rely on brake to drift to get me in and out of corners quicker. Have drifting slow you down, just like you said seems like the right thing to do. On NFS 2015 I was able to barely get cars tuned so they do not understeer but still has those twitch mechanics whenever you tried counter steering. I hope once I tune my cars, I can race the way racing and drifting was intended for.
theo, i think the reason we all have a drift bias is because we haven't had real grip in a while so ive run times that are similar on grip and drift with some practice
One thing i hate is that they mixed bournout with nfs. Just take a look at the crew 1 it reminds me a lot of Underground and that's why i love that game it has that need for speed despite the fact it's not an nfs game it has that feeling. So i do hope that the new nfs come back to it's original roots (Underground)
Tbh pants, this is a very informative and we’ll plan out video. Well done pants. Well done. This is such a great video 😯. Really Enjoyed it because I wanted to know the difference
Grippy steerings should be a bit faster since you lost over four secs in B2D OFF mode in that Camaro, therefore I think players get quite forced to activate it to win.
I was hoping for a Most Wanted 2005 style of handbrake to drift, even though the game never had the drift mechanic it was possible to initiate a drift. Anyone that tried that will know what I mean. I think that should've been implemented.
Ice Rydaa I was hoping for that too. the most accurate drift actually is from underground 2, if they combine that with most wanted with free roam it will be perfect
CAT MARIO no it was not accurate at all it was like driving on ice it was honestly horrible, annoying to start and hard to hold because it slid everywhere
rushking19 Lolz that is what drift is for. drift should not be easy but a skill in nfs game. it should take time until you learn how to drift not just 5 year old can perfectly drift in the game. and the Ice part is so accurate because you lost control in drifting and depends on tuning of your car too
I mean, non brake to drift was actually very competitive in 2015, if you tuned right. Steering sensitivity up, full drift front, full grip rear (max traction), slightly higher steering angle, max downforce, stiffer suspension, and it was just as good.
A lot of people need to remember too that it's not forza. You can't grip turns going 250 down a road. In this game when you're going around 80 - 100, you'll need to slow a bit down to grip or else you'll slide, especially if you brake mid turn. It'll definitely be easier to grip in a super car in this game than any other car
When it comes to nfs, people like to slide and have fun with their dream builds, that's what a lot of people asked for last game and got it, even though it was bad on release. Now ghost has stepped up and fixed it and also added in grip for those who like that as well. When it comes to arcade it doesn't mean pure grip all the time. Arcade is arcade.
I hope they have two separate lobbies for online racing/free roam. “Regular” and “Hardcore” Casual having whatever is your preference and Hardcore having brake to drift disabled.
It does seem to be better, but the problem I see here is, in 2015, the faster your car was, the quicker and better drifting was compared to grip, as drifting allowed you to not only turn faster, but decelerate faster, as well as easily adjust yourself in the middle of corners. When Payback comes out, what can we expect in a corner-based track with faster cars?
Definately gonna try the non-break-to-drift next time. I played the first 3 hours with brake to drift and you can easily feel how the car accelerates out of the corners after ending a drift, and although it may feel nice to drift with high speed through an entire race, it's not how it should be. Giving a brake to drift a little "nerf" so to say, as in making you much slower when drifting, could indeed be a working possibility. Hopefully Ghost will be open towards that, but I don't have any worries about that. After improving it so much since the last game I'm sure they would want to perfect it in the future.
Simple solution on how to encourage people to not drift and use brake to drift. Implement a tyra damage/degradation. The more drift you do the more you damage them, but you can take corners faster. So you have to think when and how to use drift. The more damage the slower car in corners and take offs
If you don't wanna brake to drift then you gotta drive that way first.....just like in this vid ua-cam.com/video/xSxTCJDc0qI/v-deo.html ......... if you were sliding everywhere here, then it's cuz you're playing the brake to drift way.........."actually slow down" before corners ya knobs...
Underscorer My point exactly.......most people are still gonna use brake to drift especially since it's NFS and you gain NOS by doing so which gives you a proper advantages over those who don't. My comment was directed towards those who complain about brake to drift(yeah...I have no idea why either) or think they sound cool doing so, and end up playing the brake to drift way but go leave comments screaming & screeching "Uhhh, you can't grip through corners".
I don't see why people would complain, the game let's you choose your own driving style. Some like to slide around corners and others like to have full grip. There's no right or wrong way to drive if the end result is the same. Just find what works best for you and stick to it.
Handling model so overly simplified even a newborn could play it. This is another generic racer. Flat and nonskill gameplay is EA's formula to maximize profit.
I want to know who it is who is in charge of the handling physics of this game. I want to take him into a dark room, and have a legitimate discussion about why they chose to make drifting faster than grip driving. This upsets me, but I won't resort to violence.
Now that I've seen this, I wanna create a No Brake to Drift car. In real life GP curcuits cars don't drift on corners. This will be challenge though. Also that Live Tuning feature is just what we needed. 👍
Usually I will agree with u but they wanted to make this game playable how u want it so u being forced to drive a different way won't be fun for many people including me this is the whole reason why they made this an option. Buuuuuttt I do agree that they should Nerf how much speed u lose during a draft so it's more even for every player but at the same time if there weather in this game then make it so the break to drive will get one hell of an overstear in the rain
The only things that I don't like in this game (FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN) is that there is not a lot of traffic, and when using the nos, it sounds like a jet engine. But I'm hype for this game tho
For me the meaning of no brake to drift is the fact the car drift if we turn very quickly but on the video you compare brake to drift with grip (brake & grip)...And "drifting should be slower than griping in a corner" yes but its an ARCADE game and dev (and I) think its funnier !!
I like this handling actually. When I got in that Regera the turning got more loose than the Mustang. This NFS is gonna be great as long as they support it. 🤙🏽
Break to drift will always be faster due to simple physics. Momentum will be broken a lot more with break to drift off, whereas drifting allows you to keep some of that momentum and get out faster. Simple physics.
I honestly prefer the handling model I've played nfs payback playing it with my right arm since my left is broken on pc and have all controls easily accessible for my right hand. It is a bit difficult since Its easier to use both but overall I will say the handling is amazing for me, yes there are some problems but from my experience so far is amazing but once my left arm heals I should see how it handles when I will tune the handling.
What's the point in car customization if there's no online free roam. The people that don't want it don't have friends clearly but still why put a camera mode if I can't taken pictures with friends show off cars. I'd rather play 2015 with my mates ffs.
Leave it to Criterion's successor to destroy another game with good potential. What went through their minds in thinking that drifting should be faster than gripping (Initial D FANBOYS). Different sessions NEED to be in place so noobs with brake to drift on can't race other players with it off. If this isn't fixed they have just lost a customer.
Ironic as in initial D one of the most notable episodes is when Takumi races his dad in his ae86 vs a 22b wrx and he can't outrun him and ultimately loses the race because of the wrx pulling through the turns with its awd. in fact, that is one of the only races he loses in the entire series (it was one of his first encounters with a awd car up to that point he didn't even know awd existed at one point). Initial D is actually fairly accurate in their interpretation of how cars behave irl down to factoring in tyre wear in the show. (i don't quite think THAT is where they got that mentality)
btw side note, if you get the chance to play this game at a friend's house or something and put a few hours of hands on time on it i know youtubers and the comments are saying this a lot, but i went into the trial expecting the handling to be roughly the same as 2015, it's not, if you turn brake to drift off, it takes legitimate practice (learning your car, driving lines, when to brake, etc...) the cars are responsive and you don't have to drift in a racecar EVER if you don't want to.
Again bias towards drift settings... These guys have no clue how to make good grip model. As you stated in the vid gripping into corner should be always faster than drift because drifting bleeds speed
DAMN ! .. ok they wasted it again .. grip slower then drifting .. multiplayer is ruined .. o maybe if u tweak the other slider it can be better dont forget that black box got the right physic before with nfs the run
Here's what needs to happen: Drift physics need to lose more speed, while grip physics lose less speed and grip a bit more also. It could help balance it out.
Haven't played the game yet, but grip mode looks like The Run handling model, and I like it. Although I don't know if it's actually similar, so I'll have to wait lol
Can't we change the brake bias in this game, I completed the previous one with no brake to drift assist. I set my brake bias to the rear tyres so that the car would rotate under hard braking at corner entry. I found that to be much better than having brake to drift assist on as I started a drift only when I wanted to and not slide all over the place at high speed while I applied brakes to make slight steering adjustments to avoid something with brake to drift assist on.
I have yet to get an answer... how does the multiplayer works? is the singleplayer storyline completely separate or can you do it with a friend? do you get other folks in game on random like nfs 2015 or only when you set up your own lobby? multiplayer freeroam? anything?
ok so the last thing that would make me buy this game is now gone, I'll stick to nfs2015 for the next 10 years until a new developer takes over and tries to bring nfs back to its roots again instead of making it a fnf burnout mashup with cringeworthy everything
I like a little bit of both straight grip the car is stiff and hard to turn. Brake to drift can be too much drifting. Tuning to a mixture of both is perfect
I want a race like street X from underground 2. No drifting, go in and out of corners, no high speeds and need great handling if you want a really good time. Against Bots it’ll suck but against friends I see it as a competitive race type.
s2k shreds in grip mode, so does the r32 that i drove. he just needs to actually practice. you have to have a different mentality when you're playing it grip style, it goes from being tap to drift to watch your speed and take the corner correctly.
Exactly as you said. Drifting trough corner should be slower than slowing down and gripping so if they would make it right it would be perfect balance betwen the two.
Gripping would be quicker but more difficult to master to not loose as much speed as by drifting. #MakeGrippingGreatAgain
- Like this shit. Let the Speedy Black Man see and make that hashtag a thing.
Yep!
To be honest, I agree with this.
I skid around in Godzillas and everything but I do enjoy a grip build S2000 once in a while.
Now you have it in NFS Heat
I just love how everyone just want to jump straight to conclusion that physics are shit when y'all probably haven't even played the game yet. I swear people complain about anything in the NFS community.
King Xa the Stability Control option, in my opinion, will pretty much satisfy the kids who keep crying about the drift physics
King Xa ikr
same with the 2k community
Someone complained about the radar being stolen from GTA IV in a Payback stream. Like, what the fuck?
Audixas / Official Bass Boosted Drop Finder hahahahaha cus its round lmao
"Drifting should be slower than gripping into a corner, that's how it always shoud be!" , that's all they need to know to make a game with a good handling.
The only thing to make it better is to not make two different handlings for grip and drift.
Counter steer = non existent
Toyota = non existent
Under steer = 100% on every car
Not paying money for the pile of shit
Grantas M.
The thing is, you didn't really countersteer in 2015, or Rivals, or MW12, or HP2010. It just did it for you.

the drift animation is poop
Idiot then dont complain just dont buy it. I hate people like you
Complaining here isn't going to change anything mate.
Why not have it like in Burnout Paradise? Tap the brakes->brake to drift. Hold the brakes->normal braking
This video proves to me the physics are fixed. In the first minute when he's driving between traffic, that precision wasn't available in NFS 2015.
Bannerben input was extremely delayed in 2015
While in payback it is instant
The handling overall is pretty good
Bannerben Nope. The cars are more responsive and have less delay, and the car and manevour through the traffic a lot better without doing weird things.

I've never agreed more with pants on anything but this video describes exactly how i feel with the handling model. Great job BP

If anything, a more arcade-focused game would often mean _more_ grip at high speeds, that is, if you are supposed to turn using grip.
"I made a drift and I shouldn't have done one but it was worth it" You can only make that possible on The Run
I hope they have two separate lobbies for online racing/free roam.
“Regular” and “Hardcore”
Casual having whatever is your preference and Hardcore having brake to drift disabled.
Driveclub had this feature
It does seem to be better, but the problem I see here is, in 2015, the faster your car was, the quicker and better drifting was compared to grip, as drifting allowed you to not only turn faster, but decelerate faster, as well as easily adjust yourself in the middle of corners.
When Payback comes out, what can we expect in a corner-based track with faster cars?
So when your tires are losing crip you can get faster through the corner. Well that is realistic
Brake to drift is enabled by default, you cant just "slow down" as it will put you into a drift
turn it off, then you can brake
I don't see why people would complain, the game let's you choose your own driving style. Some like to slide around corners and others like to have full grip. There's no right or wrong way to drive if the end result is the same. Just find what works best for you and stick to it.
Handling model so overly simplified even a newborn could play it. This is another generic racer. Flat and nonskill gameplay is EA's formula to maximize profit.
Now that makes more sense.
I want to know who it is who is in charge of the handling physics of this game. I want to take him into a dark room, and have a legitimate discussion about why they chose to make drifting faster than grip driving. This upsets me, but I won't resort to violence.
Because it is actually faster to go around tight corners by drifting irl
really? then why they dont do that in f1? except rallying all races are done by grip
Lee Care Gene See this is who nfs caters too
Lee Care Gene I guess fuck my pirelli’s i’ll take some chinese tires to drift i guess
So pretty much grip builds are brake to drift off. Awesome! Looking forward to play the game on 7th november 😉
Lol no. Drifting irl is slower than grip. If drifting was faster, every circuit racer would be drifting through the corners.
Good Vibes no I understand that's real life. I'm referring to need for speed physics bro
Exactly they even took off any mention of it on theyre website lol ill just stick to forza
Theo....i found a spaceship in the desert in payback....
Nfs san andreas
Brake to drift looks much better actually
DAMN ! .. ok they wasted it again .. grip slower then drifting .. multiplayer is ruined ..
o maybe if u tweak the other slider it can be better
dont forget that black box got the right physic before with nfs the run
Night Drivin' Avenger never did
nfs the run had my favorite handling - it was perfect
papa john is a fraud i hated it. I dont know if it was the op rubberbanding AI but i couldnt turn in that game.
yes in hard and extreme the rubberbanding is insane .. but im talking about physic here
Here's what needs to happen:
Drift physics need to lose more speed, while grip physics lose less speed and grip a bit more also. It could help balance it out.
it'd totally balance it out. that's my only complaint really.
Haven't played the game yet, but grip mode looks like The Run handling model, and I like it. Although I don't know if it's actually similar, so I'll have to wait lol
Look Who’s Back?!
Would brake to drift give you he same as handbrake to drift? Can you drift with handbrake
TheEmeraldNation // Jay of course
FakeSnake ok... thx
Ay bb gime dem flib wibs m8
Why is nobody talking about no online free roam ????!!!!?
break to drift is arcade racing games version of turning on traction control, just a random thought
I have yet to get an answer... how does the multiplayer works? is the singleplayer storyline completely separate or can you do it with a friend? do you get other folks in game on random like nfs 2015 or only when you set up your own lobby? multiplayer freeroam? anything?
Cosmin29 can you at least play with friends in online races?
ok so the last thing that would make me buy this game is now gone, I'll stick to nfs2015 for the next 10 years until a new developer takes over and tries to bring nfs back to its roots again instead of making it a fnf burnout mashup with cringeworthy everything
up to 8 players according to ps store
I agree looks like the brake to drift off is just like 2005 most wanted driving. If you drift in that game you slow down a lot
IMO I don't like how there's no counter steer when drifting but other than that, looks pretty solid
I like a little bit of both straight grip the car is stiff and hard to turn. Brake to drift can be too much drifting. Tuning to a mixture of both is perfect
is there manual gears in this game ?
Thank you sir for the answer. I cant play racing games whit automatic
There is automatic and manual
Does your progress stay from the origin access demo to the full game
Toastei yes
This fucking handling...I think im already regretting my pre-order FFS
HeavyMetalfan21 same, the crew 2 looks way better in handling, i'm only buying this for customization so that aspect of the game better be darn good
HeavyMetalfan21 remember the storyline.
Theo,
Will online have freemode?
Derbi Xtreme R there has to be... It's nfs
Derbi Xtreme R No free roam for online or cops both have been confirmed by Ghost.
hellofesam rip
There's a free roam lobby when you are waiting for players to load into a match. That's it
hellofesam you’re so full of shit
Seems to me there should be a happy medium between grip and drift. It shouldn't be on/off like a light switch.
Part 2 walkthrough please!!!! BE THE SPEEDY BLACK MAN THAT YOU ARE AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!
I want a race like street X from underground 2. No drifting, go in and out of corners, no high speeds and need great handling if you want a really good time. Against Bots it’ll suck but against friends I see it as a competitive race type.
I'm starting to regret my pre order.
B1ackjack its a great game teust me no regrets
FakeSnake I hope so man
B1ackjack people are saying there's no online freeroam
Sidewayz PRFM its still on trial,so lets just wait
Bannerben dude if that's true I'm getting my money back.
You should try this test with a more nimble car. Maybe it's understeer.
s2k shreds in grip mode, so does the r32 that i drove. he just needs to actually practice. you have to have a different mentality when you're playing it grip style, it goes from being tap to drift to watch your speed and take the corner correctly.
MORE PIXEL CAR RACER! Like and comment if you agree!
I agree with you, although I hate break drift, I like the drift of NFS THE RUN.
Does this game even have a manual transmission option?
yes there's manual.
Thanks for that
Speedy blackman with big hair goes very high speeds
Ayyy they added the nobeds sticker!
0:00 See there?..don`t do drugs kids!
awesome can't wait
Would be cool, if you could put every drift car as a normal car, but the normal cars not as a driftcar. So no OP drifthurracan or sth like that.
This might be the comeback game for nfs
I think the race cars should eighter spin out or have an oversteer that's hard too control when attempting to drift.
The graphics look beautiful.
I wish need for speed would let you upgrade your knuckles to allow more steering angle.
Does anybody know if there is wheel support for console
wheel support isn't a thing on any of the platforms, it's planned to get to PC at a later date according to the NFS twitter.
best Friend yes yes there is
