boy this style didn't last long...... as soon as the praise and worship wave took over, this stuff was booted out of the church so fast, the door practically hit em in the ass on the way out. Pastors even started preaching against it, saying it was sinful, calling it self-glorification and that people who did this were "performing for themselves" instead of worshipping God and that we were wrong to clap "for them." I remember my church having this great big debate over clapping in church... please... And the "performance ministry" as it came to be negatively labeled was over. Professionally trained choral conductors and vocalists were fired, the organ went along with it, that was a performance too. Apparently anything that you went and got professional training in or studied was "performance ministry." The choir, if there still was one, was relegated to just stand in the back in all black and make the stage look good for the tv camera and be background singers. Living Christmas Trees and Easter pageants also were dubbed "performance" so they got cancelled. So here we are, going to church every Sunday is like going to an acid-themed christian rave .

No this was before Karen’s time. I believe her name was Amy Thomas. If memory serves me correctly, she was married to someone in the band.
