  • Back at it again. I have thrown some CASH out on this one. These puppies were not cheap, but so worth the investment. The Givi trekker outback cases are one of the better-priced hard cases on the market and still bring a ton of security and stellar looks.
    I love the mono-key and quick-release features on these cases to make for ease of use for everyday riders.
    I love being able to stash my gear when I arrive at my destination and feel I can walk around without having to lug my gear around with me, and I know it's safely locked up in the side cases.
    I hope you enjoy the video!
    Ride safe and see you on the pavement!

    I had the 48 liters on my Super Tenere. But now I've bought the 1250 GSA and acquired the OEM panniers......The givis are lovely I really liked them, but since my bike came with the OEM rack and it integrated nicely with the bike I just went with the OEM ones

    • @AmericanAbroad1
      @AmericanAbroad1  Рік тому +1

      Yeah the OEM ones are definitely great also. Plus then you can make your motorcycle key the pannier key also. With Givi it adds an extra key. No biggie but always nice to have less keys to worry about.
      Thanks for the comment!

    It might be more symmetrical with the bigger 48L on the left side, but it would actually throw you off more than having two 33L boxes. Think of it like this, if you're traveling, then you will pack more into the left side, which will be much heavier than the right side, making the weight distribution uneven.

    • @AmericanAbroad1
      @AmericanAbroad1  10 місяців тому

      Correct. For me personally I love being able to fit a helmet in one of the cases so it’s worth it.
      I never overpack the left one. I know it’s a bit needy but I like to weigh out what I’m packing and try to keep both cases evenly weighted.

    • @andrewrowan6876
      @andrewrowan6876 8 місяців тому +2

      But you have the weight on the right side of the exhaust, thats why they balance up for safer handling.

    • @70DMac
      @70DMac 8 місяців тому +1

      @andrewrowan6876 but it's a minimal difference because you can only hold so much in a 37L compared to the bigger 48L, and it only about a 1.5 to 2" difference. If your two 37L boxes weigh the same, then it's really no difference than having a much heavier 48L on your left side.

    The best cases for a GS/ GSA (I have mine on a 1290S KTM atm, but easy to switch racks). With Givi you get the best value for the money also consider what addons (Lights, bags, net, toolbox, drinking bottles, gas/water canister and so on and on) you can get for those. Nothing on the market compares, original BMW OEM (mostly Touratech) are not so advanced and more expensive. I have all from Givi, Case left and right, Topcase, Tankbag, Toolbox, inner waterproof bags inside the boxes. Btw. Givi (at least in Europe) guarantee waterproof for heavy rain more as 20L/min. They might not be waterproof when you mount them on a submarine.

    • @AmericanAbroad1
      @AmericanAbroad1  Рік тому +1

      Ah I didn’t know that about the guarantee. Thanks for the info.
      Yeah I love these cases for the money you can’t beat them. Everything close to them is way more expensive.

      @SamTeil Рік тому

      @@AmericanAbroad1 Yes, for days and days of rain when you are on a trip I recommend the Givi T506 and Givi T507 inner bags. The stuff in there never gets wet and you just take em out unloading while camping or at a hotel. No need to drag the complete cases around.

    The Givi cases and locking system is the best, hate the lop sided look though, id rather have same size cases on both sides, i have a large tool box on the left which balances out the pipe on the right

    • @AmericanAbroad1
      @AmericanAbroad1  Рік тому +1

      Yeah I would prefer same sizes except, I love being able to fit a helmet in the left case. That’s the reason I got the 48l.
      But I agree I would prefer the same sized cases.

      @@AmericanAbroad1 i got the outback motortek racks which are evenly spaced and 2 of the 38L lone rider panniers plus the 58L Give Trekker top box which takes 2 helmets, lone rider bags are heavy with nothing in them is the downside

    So, that 48, 37 rule is applied to all bikes I assume? It would be, quite diasatorus to put 48 and 48 right?

    • @AmericanAbroad1

      It’s been done, but most people I speak to say it’s WAYYY to big. Great article here www.stromtrooper.com/threads/givi-trekker-outback-cases-48l-with-a-passenger.441596/
      I wouldn’t do it. 48-37 is my jam. Honestly, when I travel I don’t even fill them up. It’s mostly to store my helmet, jacket, airbag vest, etc… when I get off the bike.
      Most of what I pack goes in a 40l dry bag that I sit on my passenger seat. Easy on- easy off. The dry bag also makes for a great backrest on longer rides. It’s become a rarity for me to use the top case.
      Hope this helps.

    your not showing a top box mounted like a v47 to see if any interfetrence from opening the others ? the v47 lets say on a tiger 900 can overlap the sides by 4inches ;each side.

    The only replacement part you can get for them is locks. They neither offer seals, nor latches. You can only replace the whole bottom or lid.
    After owning a set for two years, and wearing out the mounting latches, I am not pleased. I put 50k miles on them, and expected there to be parts available, eventually.
    I will not buy them again.
