The point that the're always missing is that McGregor claimed that he could beat Floyd at boxing. Floyd never claimed that he could beat McGregor at MMA. So there's no reason for Floyd to prove a point that he never made.

boxing is a great base for mma striking. Instinct Counterpunch timing can help get out tight situations. Ko punches will eat up someone coming for a takedown even with a graze, can make you cautious and second think another one.

You know what I think Dana should do i think he should start his own boxing/mma cross sport. It would be in a boxing ring and 8-10 rounds. I think ufc fighters would love to prove to world they can box also
I think people are underestimating Floyd's chances in an MMA fight. He would obviously need some time to get adjusted to people trying to kick him and to learn how to defend against takedowns and learn some basic ground game. But as long as he's on his feet he is dangerous to the man in front of him, if his hands are strong enough to allow him to punch with all of his power. And he's fast, so he might have better chances crossing over than a heavyweight boxer.
I basically agree, but then Edson is no Floyd Mayweather boxing-wise, with all due respect to Edson. I didn't say Floyd would dominate the UFC, obviously he would be a very one-sided fighter, and that would be a disadvantage. But he's an incredible boxer and with the 4 oz gloves it might just take one good punch to decisively hurt his opponent. If there's an opening, and his opponents would probably be very open for his standards as an elite boxer, he has the eyes and the speed to exploit it.

I think Floyd may have a good shot, as long as he takes his time and doesn't jump in head first against one of the top dogs! & T Wood definitely made a good point on his TMZ interview regarding Floyd's MMA venture, if Floyd can be trained on good takedown defense, escaping submissions, and throwing & defending kicks. That would make him a complete fighter and force the person across the cage from him to stand up and throw hands with him, which would lead to him winning with EASE!
