- Protesters marched through Bristol and sat outside Bridewell Police Station as part of another demonstration against the Police and Crime Bill on Tuesday evening.
Avon and Somerset Police said about 100 people had gathered on College Green by about 19:00 BST rising to 150 by 20:10.
Several hundred protesters then marched through the city centre before heading back towards Bridewell Police station at about 21:30.
A sit-down protest took place at the station which was boarded up following violent scenes at the 21 March protest.

I don’t necessarily agree with the statue being thrown in the river but I can definitely support the idea behind it. However, one controversial mishap in protest shouldn’t remove the people’s right to speak out altogether.

@@EmperorOfChaos The rioting in Bristol was a direct result of the bill to limit the freedom of speech and right to protest being passed into law. If they didn't pass the law, there wouldn't be a riot. People seem to think that so long as it shuts up the people they don't like it's fine but don't realise it is everybody who loses out. Little by little freedoms will be lost and you may enjoy the results at first because the laws are ridding you of the inconvenience of an opposition to your beliefs and opinions, but they'll come for you in the end, they always do.

Then the actress started falling on the floor pretending that she was assaulted. These people are stuck up mostly university students who damage other people's property. I am not keen on you thinking you have a "right" to seriously disrupt communities and companies. You can still protest, and shout at people leaving buildings if you must. The fact that they are being forced to protest despite the clear and present danger of the pandemic shows how seriously they take the issue of the Bill that's being passed. The UK youth are the most impoverished group in the whole UK, abandoned by government, no jobs and not able to get universal credit either and cannot go abroad to find work. Most are poor and hopeless. Expect more protests to turn violent this summer.

I'm not sure about the first protest in Bristol but the other two were peaceful until the police actually started the violence. I watched one of them live on Subject Access channel and the protesters were totally peaceful but the police response was brutal.
@@jamesclark6257 I saw the Manchester one. They were blocking people trying to get work on the Trams. Police asked them to move. And only arrested those who refused to budge. It's your choice if you refuse to go and resist arrest, what the heck do you expect will happen? People have a right to get to work without some random nutters with whatever cause stopping them. This is exactly why the Bill is here - these types have been pushing the law to the limits. Like recently when they seriously disrupted Amazon deliveries. They can still shout at and annoy people in protests, if they feel they must. But they can no longer abuse protests to target companies and seriously disrupt their business. Nobody has the "right" to do that - common sense.
@@andrewnorris5415 I have no problem with the police in Manchester and the Brighton police were amazingly good. The Bristol police have been very bad. If someone is on the ground and holding their head like they are injured then standing on their leg and repeatedly hitting them with a baton is a bit too much. The London police aren't quite as bad but still excessively forceful in my view. You don't need to be forceful with protesters sitting in a park. They weren't obstructing any business and were peaceful until the police got heavy handed. Okay, they are breaking the covid rules but someone sensible needs to judge the level of response required

I know many people who are taking part in these peaceful protests. They are protesting the Legal Bill being passed by the UK Government next month. One thing opposed is that the Bill makes it illegal to peacefully protest in the UK. That is just one of a hundred items of the Bill being protested. This is a serious assault on the liberty of the UK people. The 'Bill' has nothing to do with the police. The 'Bill' is the name for the pre-law legislation being debated in UK parliament. Are you in favor of the Bill?? Do you know anything about these people you have made murderous comments about?

By protesting against our freedom of speech, this is much greater than a simple protest against something small and minor. You underestimate the scale of what this bill will do to freedom of speech in this nation, I suggest you read the bill and understand it because I can assure you it is far more anti-protest than you may believe.
@@sb9246 this bill will prevent Police from defusing Protests that will be getting out of hand, recent videos of the same protest show protestors running amok and Police drastically trying to stop them from causing harm to others or starting a huge intimidating crowd. The Police and courts shouldn't be the ones who get the backlash, it should be the protesters who caused verbal and violent outbursts getting the backlash. Furthermore there are about 30 Police personnel trying to control a protest of 500 or so people.
‘These people’ are basically trying to save your sorry arsenal from being thrown in jail and fined £1000 for having a party in your garden with your family... but you are too dumb to see it..

How the bill does 2 main things it allows the police to stop protests pretty much whenever they feel like and it allows them to remove gypseys also whenever they feel like this peaceful protest of people sitting down with candles does not prove that we need the bill far from it

One thing opposed is that the Bill makes it illegal to peacefully protest in the UK. That is just one of a hundred items of the Bill being protested. This is a serious assault on the liberty of the UK people. The 'Bill' has nothing to do with the police. The 'Bill' is the name for the pre-law legislation being debated in UK parliament.

I'm all for protests, but I can't help but feel that many of these people are using this as an excuse to be in large gatherings with there friends during restrictions. I mean do they even realize what there slogan is saying? It is advocating for the murder of a particular group in society, something I thought they were actively against, I guess it doesn't matter so long as your the 'politically correct' entitled movement.
