    Thanks for sharing this great Video!
    I was a very harsh speaker and people used to hate me because of my speech.
    I loved the concept so much that, I started practicing it regularly and i used the "BuDhamma" mobile app to help me on this.
    Now, I speak gentle and my people are very happy with me.
    Lot of things I get easily done now!

    (this transliteration of the mantra may be easier for US and UK folks!) The consonants are softer of course as Tibetan Lamas say it.

    Well, I do consider compassion the supreme virtue, but I read the vows of the Medicine Buddha in his Sutra and I am shocked with the vow about women wanting to reborn as a man. Why not grant the wish to men who want to reborn as a woman? The vows are all about promisses of better situations and liberation of bad ones. In the context, I can not avoid the idea that the Medicine Buddha considers being a woman something that is inferior, that one is better off as a man than as a woman. I am a woman and I could not avoid the shock and the hurt when I read the Eighth Vow when is said "...women who are extremely disgusted with the hundred afflictions that befall women and wish to abandon the female form...". I don't understand how a being of so much wisdom did not noticed that the "aflicctions" of women are caused for men: parents, male siblings, husbands and the society in general. That women are not allowed the same rights men are. That womens were and still are victims of a society, a history, a philosophy, laws, customs created by men.
    Chatolics, Jews, Hindus, Thaoists, Muslins, all the main religions and cultures still preach submission from women to men. it can not be. It is barbaric and a source of endless suferring. It is something that show how blind humankind is, a chosen blindness in many a case.
    As I said before, the Buddha promises illumination (in oposition to ignorance and such ), awakening of minds that are dwelling in the darkeness, to set those in heretical ways in the path of Enlightment and so on. In a nutshell, being a woman is a situation similar to diseases, sin and ignorance.
    I am not here to judge, to condemn or criticize, I am here searching undertanding, but I can not deny my own eyes, it all is written very clear in the Sutra. So, if someone can help me in this I will be deeply grateful, because I am so very tired of religions placing women as inferior to men. It really hurts very much when one are searching with all her heart for God and every and each time, religions treat us, women, as second class people.

      I don't think the Buddha meant that women were inferior. His answer was certainly contextual. Women have only been treated slightly better at this point in the time wave contnuum. There is surely the element of Polarities in the Dhama. But your diatribe was Diamond clear....oh also. the Buddha promises nothing. Cheers...

      Dear friend, thank you for addressing the issue of inequality in the medicine Buddha sutra but also in many religions. I wholeheartedly believe that The Medicine buddha's teaching is that of universal love and hence complete gender equality. Therefore I would not hesitate to conclude its very evident that most such teachings are simply man-made as a result of a patriarchal culture. A simple observation is that most clergy in most traditions have generally been male, and therefore corruption happens inevitably over time. In contrast to "man made religion" all "true teachings' always treat men and women as equals, and actually messengers of all faiths came to bring this message to all humanity and address social inequalities. Also if you look at all faiths female deities are abound...for example Tara in buddhism is highly venerated as is Mary in Christianity and Fatimah, i.e the prophet Mohammed"s daughter in Islam. THE TRUE TEST OF THE AUTHENTICITY OF A TEACHING IS, DOES IT BRING a message of EQUALITY? I would say a spiritual path based on meditation, is usually more pure that religions that have been adulterated. Also we can meditate on medicine Buddha, imagining ourselves merging with his beautiful blue form on a daily basis and no doubt in time he will reveal his secrets to us, then we can empower ourselves with direct knowledge, and in this way come to know that our Buddha nature is universal and in fact transcends gender. Hope that helps, much Love and Blessings.

      Atheos Emirelez If you read the Saddharmapundarika Sutra, it is clearly mentioned that a woman can attain Buddhahood. In the Pali Canon, the Buddha Shakyamuni stated that, any woman, who have ended her desires, can attain Nirvana.
      The Vow of the Medicine Buddha was, in context of the patriarchil Indian society, where it is more easy for a man to join monasticism than of a woman. Thats why the Medicine Buddha vowed to help women who wish to ease the process the enlighten with a malr birth, if she wish.

      you have important point about women equality. i support equality. do you feel buddhists you know are for women equality?

    • @Celebs101
      @Celebs101 5 років тому +4

      As I understand it, you should not read it as men are better than women, but men in this world are usually better off than women. Exactly for the reasons you mentioned. So if you could choose your life could be easier as a man. A subtle difference in explaining can change its whole meaning. Even tough your post was 2 years ago, I still felt like responding :)
