Excellent timing. Last week, I first watched one of your videos about starting to play solo RPGs (I've played solo RPGs for a few years, but I like to watch different people explain how they do it) Today I've started getting back into Cyberpunk and UA-cam recommends this fresh upload
@@HollowPondsSoloSagas I'm thinking of playing a Robin Hood style Netrunner who's out trying to stick it to the corpo's Not particularly original for the setting or TTRPGs (every man and his dog plays a neutral or chaotic good Rogue these days), but I enjoyed the video game _Watch Dogs_ and I want the same vibe within _Cyberpunk_
@InhabitantOfOddworld I never finished the second Watch Dogs but loved the first one. The second didn’t have the same feel but I totally get you. Sounds awesome.
They cap-stoned CP2020 with the two module Firestorm Arc: Stormfront and Shockwave which ended with the fall of the Arasaka Tower. I think they retconned this a bit for CPR but there is a lot of information as these modules cover the 4th Corporate War and can be useful just for the basic history and detailing backgrounds if you want to bring in aftermaths from that war.
It's funny, I'm making my own Cyberpunk TTRPG setting in GURPS but the character creation system in 2020 (i don't have the red books sadly) is something that is truly inspired and really inspires my own work. It doesn't take much to adapt the concept for another setting. The style first and foremost is important for me because I always try to give my NPC one distinctive characteristic. A merc boss with silver white hair and eyes that seem to glow in the dark. A police armorer with a pink plastic hand ect. Also side note I know you didn't play the 2077 video game because you didn't know about the Arasaka bombing, the few years of "true independence" of the city. The NUSA invasion and Arasaka's return "saving" the city from the NUSA.
Yeap :D correct 2077 came out just when I was trying to play less xbox and it was expensive so I skillfully dodged it... although I wistfully glance at it still :D
@@HollowPondsSoloSagas I've always been a fan of the genre but the storytelling in the game settled it. Nobody is who they appear to be on the surface, and the entire world is a mystery. Years of playing and i learned that they skillfully managed to play with the ttrpg story without modifying it one bit. It's absolutely true to lore which is just amazing dedication. That is how i got the 2020 books... and wound up creating my own ttrpg setting. I had a weird thought (because Arasaka execs are accused of being vampires.) Vampires in a setting like that couldn't cyberize, they heal too fully. Bullets are just popped out in the healing process so... cybernetics would also. Exploring this idea and my friends passion for eldritch horror I wound up with something far more shadowrun than cyberpunk 2020 (no orcs and elves but well.. vampires and extra dimensional beings) I'm so pumped to be starting my first campaign in it here in a week!!! Two years of effort building it no less!
@@HollowPondsSoloSagas I had no idea about the vampires. I knew that werewolves were a thing. In universe they first ( I think) were explained as genetic super soldier experiments delivered by Bio Technica to EBM as part of EBM"s attempt on a coup of the US government which failed and coincidentally is why EBM no longer exists by the 2077 timeline. But that's not where the wolfos in the USA end. One of the fun things in the 2077 video game is one of the radio stations "Morro Rock Radio" has Mike Pondsmith himself as the DJ. Pondsmith's DJ character talks about all sorts of seeming conspiracy theory stuff on the radio that usually in some fashion or another turns out to be true, so it's like the games creator telling the lore of the game! Well one of the stories is that Bio Technica is still for whatever reason breeding Wolf Men and just... letting them lose on the American southwest. Nobody really knows why either! So if you're camping out with your nomad chooms, you probably want to keep your rifle always within arms reach!
Yes yes yes, all of my yes! I will be in your debt forever if you get me on track for some solo Cyberpunk. I picked up Cy_Borg but it just wasnt what I wanted. Also, if you havent read Johnny Mnemonic, Molly is also in that book.
LOL you know I never picked up on that .... so I played Shadowrun a bit back in the massive pool of d10 days and I got into the card game but haven't picked it back up (although Mandy and I nearly joined a group at Table Top Con up the Gold Coast in May). So I'd say no plans but I never say never about anything and that seems to have served me well so far :D
Looking forward to the campaign kicking off! I've never tried cyberpunk, but I've watched a couple actual-plays of it and I've been tempted to get the rulebook.
@@HollowPondsSoloSagas I'm already ready for the next one! This is my first experience with any cyberpunk RPG outside of the videogame. I think 3 is a good party number for solo RP in my opinion!
@RollingSoloRPG well my afternoon is editing episode two that I was enjoying so much it overran. That means I don’t need to film an episode three which has me kinda upset. I want to know what happens next 😁 I need to wait an extra week too lol
“Your lover went cyberpsycho.” We’ve all had that!
That hits close to the bone, man.
Sorry dude didn’t want to dig up old trauma for you. Did MaxTac have to get involved? That sucks. But hopefully you at least got scrapmetal value!

This method of character generation is like Heinrichs Guide to Character Creation for CoC. Love it.
Always happy to see someone doing cyberpunk solo! Excited for the next session, thank you! :)
I love me some cyberpunk
Looking forward to watching more of your videos!
Thank you there is a good sized backlog to pick from.
Sweeeeeeeeet. Somehow, despite living in capitalist dystopia myself, I love cyberpunk!
LOL I know just what you mean
SPRINT 0... Just thought I would throw this on while doing some work.... Triggered 😹
Lol I do apologise I shall keep my filthy agile speak to myself 😁

I had both of those but only gave them a cursory read. I think I have the PDF somewhere I’ll dig them out. 👍

They was an expansion for 2020 that included Vamps and dark stuff. I ran a short campaign using it way way back (I was at uni so yes a long time ago).

Years ago I did. I’m half way through watching the Keanu movie tho 😁
@HollowPondsSoloSagas movie is criminally under rated. So excited for this series. Always heard amazing things about Cyberpunk.
@donc7664 I’ve been excited to start this one for ages. This and of course Ghostbusters 😁

As I say in the video I've played all the old versions (not v3 the green rule book hurt my eyes) and Red plays so so well
Let's go chooms!
It’s really cool to see so many people as excited for this as I have been. 😁
@@HollowPondsSoloSagas Played the original games like you mentioned, so excited to see how the new game goes. Bought it but haven't played it.

I felt the same lol

Obviously, they dont have the money to make rent because they've spent it all on new TTRPG systems. 😂
Shuss there lol we don’t talk about where new books come from or how we move them round the house to they aren’t spotted 😁
Thanks!
Thank you 🙏🏾
Nice D6s :). I have similar if not the same :)
