I loved this show growing up and it is sad that she died from Covid and did not survive to see a new year. RIP to all of the cast and surviving member.
I recently watched an episode waiting in an office. Bob Denver was a comic genius. He made it look so easy to play his bumbling, innocent but lovable character.
I was very sad that Dawn Wells has passed away. During the series, I thought that Mary Ann was the greatest of the castaways. Very beautiful 😍. I was only a year old when the show started. It's still great today 😊👍. Thanks for the video.
Gilligan's Island is one of my all-time favorite series. Not just for the great acting and tons of laughter. The accompanying music is so pleasant to listen to.
Us 90’s kids also got the tail end of being able to enjoy this and always loved it! Still remember it well and the theme song will pop into my head every so often 😂
My brother and sister and I would come home from school and watch re-runs of Gilligan's Island in the 70's every day after school. Like so many of our generation, we know all the episodes. I was broken hearted to hear that Dawn Wells passed recently. There was Ginger and then there was Mary Ann. She wore her shirt tied at the waist. No male kid of the 70's missed that! RIP Ms. Dawn Wells.
I was born in 1991, but I grew up watching shows like Gilligan's Island, The Andy Griffith Show, M.A.S.H, as well as The Three Stooges. These people set a standard for American entertainment that most shows struggle to contend with even to this day. They will always be adored and appreciated by fans for generations to come
My mom broke the news when I came home from work that Dawn Wells had died, she told me on the very day, I cried. I didn't grow up with the show except in syndication, I am an 80's baby, but still I adored that show and Mary Ann was my favorite because out of the whole cast of characters she was the most compassionate and empathetic except when she got mad every now and then. Broke my heart that she died from COVID when she didn't have to. It's sad that I am losing my childhood icons and just showing that I am getting older, I will be 40 in May.
Dawn was my favorite Too , And hated to hear when she died. I was born in the mid 60's and also watched reruns. I didn't know at the time they were reruns.....
When I was in the 3rd grade, I would hurry to walk home and watch Gulligans Island! I used to get home any nobody was home. Nowadays, that’s unheard of but it was a different time back then. I miss those simpler times. 😢
GOD BLESS AMERICA, and thank you for what you are about to reveal and accomplish through 45! What a mighty God we serve. Bring us back to that wonderful innocent time in US history of Gilligan's island 😊🇺🇸
Always, Tim Blane Thank you for these Memorable Beautiful Comedy Shows! Giliagans Island was a Classic when I was Young. Now, 2021*I watch Reruns Can't get Enough. I Miss them all.Ms.Pretty
Tina Louise is a legend, they all were in their own distinct way. Dawn Wells was my favorite. Gilligan was hilarious, but Dawn put a sweet homey spin to everything. It's hard to believe it was filmed in the 60's. I grew up watching it in the early 70's, I always assumed it was filmed then! It was great hearing their stories. Thanks!
Loved Dawn Wells, she did a charity promotion for Gilligan’s wife in our small town of Bluefield , WV. Mr. Denver lived near here in his retirement years. Awesome guy. Mary Ann was pure class & beauty.
I watched it every day after school.Loved it and everyone in it esp Ginger n the Professor. I will never forget Fonz on Happy Days saying "If they could build Ginger a stage why couldn't they fix the boat and go home." Priceless.
Oh poor Dawn Wells I'm going to miss Her she was my favorite actress besides being so cute an pretty gosh wish I could've met her and some magic could have happened R I P Dawn Gonna miss you for sure God Bless You.
This is one of my all time favorite TV shows. I grew up watching it in the 90's. It is great that this show still shown on TV. I hope the younger generation watches this show because it is wholesome and there is a lot of life lessons it can teach.
I Grew Up watching this Show with all the Iconic Actors, This Show was the Absolute Best as far as TV Show's go. Live on Tina Louise. Rest In Peace Gilligan Island Cast and Crew.
Gilligans Island is a great show. It is sad that many of the cast is gone. They will be remembered always. My favorite character was Mary Ann. It is good Tina Louise is doing good. I liked her character, Ginger.
I watched the show every day after school for many years. I practically had all the lines memorized. It bugged my sister that I watched it every day, but back then (before cable) there were four channels available in my small town and it was either Gilligan or soap operas. Years later, my best friend did some legal work for Dawn Wells when she was publishing a cook book. I was set to meet her through him on one of my visits to LA, but unfortunately she had to take a last minute business trip and I never had another chance. I actually broke the news to my buddy when I heard she passed away and he was quite saddened when I told him. He said she was a lovely lady, quite personable, and he always enjoyed working with her. Interestingly, she was the only actor to get residuals from the show. At the time it was on the air, her husband insisted on residuals being written into her contract, which EP Sherwood Schwartz agreed to. She didn't make nearly the amount of money that Schwartz did from the show, but she did pretty well.
I was shocked when Dawn Wells passed away because she was the youngest of the cast members and Tina Louise was always bitter about her roll as Ginger I was sure that Tina would be the next to go and Dawn would be last surviving cast member. Still the cast of Gilligan's Island was a very talented bunch and will always be remembered.
the line of death does not happen by age. my baby brother passed away he was 45 years old and both my parents are still alive. my dad is 92 years old and my mom is 89 years old.
I loved the show growing up in the 60's and 70's. I still watch and love it now. Each actor owned their character they played on the show and I could never imagine another actor in their parts. This was when television was great.
I was only 7 when the series started, but I remember watching every episode, and absolutely loved it. It's good to refresh my memories of the cast, because when I look back I only ever remember Bob Denver . To me he made the show what it was. RIP Bob and the others.
I was so sad when the news announced that Dawn Wells died; she was a sweet person. This was a nice show. Five of the seven actors lent their voices in The New Adventures of Gilligan's Island cartoon in 1974.
Never could figure out how they all had complete wardrobes of clothes . . and tons of gagets when they were just on a three hour tour . . a three hour tour!
Russell Johnson was also a successful character actor in movies before Gilligan's Island. I've seen him in many movies that he did before he was on Gilligan's Island. R.I.P. to the cast who've already passed on.
Dawn Wells was my favourite. I was madly in love with her. There was a sweetness about Dawn that she carried out with through out her life. I remember chatting to her on Facebook and she kindly responded. RIP Dawn.
When the showed aired my brother and I never missed an episode, sadly my kid brother passed in 2018 at age 63, I'm still here soon to turn 69. One thing I learned in life "God calls you go"
God doesn’t call anyone. Believing in an imaginary being in the sky is caveman crap. You die when you die. There is no rhyme or reason for it. Humans are always trying make sense of things that they either don’t understand or when the answer isn’t as heartwarming as they’d like it to be. We can never grasp that we have nothing to do with it. We need some sort of comfort in scary situations. Death isn’t scary. It’s the one singular thing that people can never gasp- death is the end. There is nothing after it. After you die, you no longer exist. We are so afraid of death that we have to pretend that life, in some shape or form, continues after death (as in afterlife). It doesn’t.
Several weeks ago, I learned of the passing of the beloved Dawn Wells. She was my favourite. female character on "GILLIGANS ISLAND". May her image live forever on reruns.
Yes. Lets pad the truth with meaningless words. Why don't you grow a thicker skin and realize that different words aren't going to change anything. Soft.
right, the way he introduced her was weird. are you kin to the builder of benedetto jazz guitars? 20 years ago i bought his book and he autographed it.
I had a childhood crush on Dawn Wells back in the early days of G.I, it’s good that Nina is still going strong, bless her heart. I love this show as a kid and will look up some episodes to relive those memories.
@6:32 for Lovey Howell, she remained VERY close to Dawn Wells and at the time of her (Schaffer's) death, Dawn was well taken care off in that will, as Dawn was very much like a daughter to her.
down in texas in the 1960s we had only 3 stations, so the choices were few. then they filled the gap with thousands of reruns and it seem to never end. but we played outside to get away from it. so it was all good.
The last pic you showed is actually from the 1977 reunion TV movie ‘Rescue From Gilligan’s Island’ that didn’t feature Tina Louise as Ginger as she was the only hold out from the original cast.
In reading Sherwood Schwartz's book about the making of the series, it said that she wanted too much money to reprise her role as Ginger. More than the others were getting, & Mr. Schwartz just couldn't do that because in the first place, she was no more important than the others, & in the second place, he couldn't afford it because it would've put the movie over budget, which probably would've wrecked the whole production, I would think.
Thanks to my mom I fell in love with this classic, the characters are great and memorable but it saddens me to see that most of the main castaways are gone except the movie star. Their memories will live on forever. R.I.P. Dawn Wells, Bob Denver, Alan Hale Jr., Natalie Schaffer, Russell Johnson and Jim Backus.
I loved Gilligan's island. We watched it every day after school, in the 60's when I was in grade school. I can still sing the theme song, lol. I was surprised by hearing that both Dawn Wells died of Covid 19 and that Tina Louise is still making movies. Good for her. My dad passed away from Covid 19 in December 2020 as well. What a sad ending.
4:30 Russell Johnson was interviewed on the Talk Show, "Space Ghost Coast To Coast" and Space Ghost questioned him, asking him if he really was on that island all that time. To which Russell paused a very long time in thought and finally said, "No ... I had to think about that ... No. It wasn't real." That hesitation alone brought me to tears. Goddamm that Gilligan's Island was such a good show ! So many memories from my youth ...

My Grandfather got to meet Dawn Wells back in the early 90's. There was a a photo he kept posted in his garage with her hugging him. Sadly when my grandfather later remarried the women was crazy and ripped that photo up and threw it away. HE passed away in 1998 and would have loved to have had that photo. He said she was a very down to earth person.

Anyway..wish she was still with us 😢😓😞
The reason they never got off the island was the Professor. You are the most intelligent, best looking guy on an island with Ginger and Mary Ann. You are going to sabotage EVERY legit attempt to get away.
I grew up with watching Gilligan’s Island after school. I’m saddened to hear Mary Ann died and the rest are gone but Ginger. I suddenly realized that I’m not so young myself anymore either. I guess we’ll all get to watch them again on the other side.

Ironically, Tina Louise is the one cast member who hated the show and refused to have anything to do with subsequent Gilligan’s Island projects after the original series ended.
I really don't blame her, because they didn't get any money off of the reruns, which they should've gotten. It was a hokey show and she was typecast into that roll and probably couldn't find acting jobs she wanted. It's just a matter of perspective.
@@brianlanders5306 - To put it into an even clearer perspective, you need to understand that Louise was simply not a very good actress. After her looks went, she was outta luck ...
I remember seeing Alan Hale Jr at a huge business convention at McCormick Center in Chicago, the summer of 1985. People could get their picture taken with him. He was a spokesman for an outboard motor company at the time. He looked absolutely bored and unhappy, but put on the skipper’s big, open mouthed smile for each pic. After the pic, his face sank. I wonder how happy he was in life.

@@lokisgodhi All thanks to Gunsmoke, or rather the CBS exec's wife whose favorite show was Gunsmoke & it needed the time slot in order to stay on the air because its ratings were plummeting. This is why Gunsmoke enjoyed a twenty year run. All thanks to Gilligan's Island getting the axe. I didn't like the fact that the show didn't have a proper series finale which would've been where they got rescued. That's the way it should've been. Sherwood Schwartz should've written & produced a special episode that aired right before the start of the new season in which they finally get rescued & live happily ever after.

They sugar coat the cancelation. The ratings weren't declining. William S. Paley, the network's chief executive, wife got upset that Gunsmoke was being canceled so she pitched a fit. To placate her, he canceled Gilligan's Island to expand a timeslot they could stick Gunsmoke into.

I used to love this show as a kid back in the 70’s. Always had a Crush on Ginger! RIP to all of them. They were Great.

Not sure what you meant that she didn’t have to die from COVID
Your comment is very sincere. Dawn played the role of Mary Ann very well.

Thanks!
All of the cast of Gilligan's island were wonderful actors.
Loved Dawn Wells, she did a charity promotion for Gilligan’s wife in our small town of Bluefield , WV. Mr. Denver lived near here in his retirement years. Awesome guy.
Mary Ann was pure class & beauty.

Mary Ann also aged better.
the line of death does not happen by age. my baby brother passed away he was 45 years old and both my parents are still alive. my dad is 92 years old and my mom is 89 years old.
Was sad to hear Dawn Wells had passed from covid-19.
I loved the show growing up in the 60's and 70's. I still watch and love it now. Each actor owned their character they played on the show and I could never imagine another actor in their parts. This was when television was great.
I love the professor, his white shirt is always perfectly clean and ironed.

It was fun to watch the skippers superstitions come out and the professor didn't believe any of it despite skipper being right on several occasions

When the showed aired my brother and I never missed an episode, sadly my kid brother passed in 2018 at age 63, I'm still here soon to turn 69. One thing I learned in life "God calls you go"
*GOD, Does NOT CALL, AnyBody!!!! OnLy IDIOTS, BeLieve that!!!!*
It doesn’t.
