This was one of THE MOST inspiring sketchbook videos I've ever watched. I even went out to the store at midnight and bought a new sketchbook BECAUSE of this video. I am so inspired to make art that I WANT TO SEE for MYSELF, and like... just do that forever. I know - what's the point of making stuff if it's not what you want to see/make, but I've caught the algor*thm disease where I make what I think will look nice/perform well on my feed, so TIME TO STOP DOING THAT! And time to have an absolute blast filling up HOPEFULLY, eventually, 77 sketchbooks of my own : ) Thank you so much for sharing your work. What an absolute gem you are. xo
What a lovely video! Ended up drawing and painting while watching and that was so pleasant. This style of video reminds me of just hanging out "cleaning" a room and finding cool things you forgot about and having the actual cleaning process take way too long because its fun to discover lost things hahah
I started in acrylics, reluctantly but then happily used oils, got a master’s degree in art, an THEN got bit by the watercolor obsession, learning pigments, properties, lightfastness, best limited palettes for travel etc etc. I feel like a big earnest watercolor obsession can really up your art, painting and color mixing game huge amounts! I recommend it to everyone.
This was SUCH a fabulous and inspiring watch from start to finish. It was such a roller coaster ride to see your art practice develop and thrive, and really reassuring for me to see that not every artist has it all figured out. I love how you use your sketchbooks and experiment grounds, and how you aren't afraid to try new things and mediums, tear them up, and even abandon them when they don't suit you - I muscle through every sketchbook, and I think it really is to my detriment. Thank you for the reminder of what art is all about - and for reminding me to archive! I just moved and have big boxes of sketchbooks. I think it's high time I went through them.
I have never seen your videos before. This was cool. It was such a good idea the young you had putting in doodle scraps and notes. Your growth and experimenting was fun and inspiring. I keep all my old sketchbooks I wish I had been better about dates. But I can kinda date them because my pharmacy school notes filter into some. But it is fun history.
i totally get that! i love that you can almost get transported back in time by looking through your old sketchbooks. even if you dont have a specific date for each one, they still mark a part of your life and thats exciting!!
I loved every minute of this, from the dove story to the church bells and Vincent being a character. Thanks for inspiring me to finally fill my own sketchbooks.
ahh i read this back after Vincent has passed away and it filled my heart with something both sad and happy. so glad he could be a little part of the video!! he was such a sweet boy💖
You really said: Let's go from spooky stuff straight to absolut cute and fluff with colors! Love it. Both sides are fun to look at. Glas UA-cam recommend you.
I number and date the spine of my sketchbook when I start it. Most of my sketchbooks last 2 or 4 months (Currently on number 33) I usually do a page/spread a day and also do some writing on the page about what I did that day, date it and so it also acts as a diary log. I put an index in the front of the sketchbook (good for first page jitters) with the date and what I sketched on that day to make it easier to locate previous sketches. By making daily pages I can be more consistent in my practice, but there are no rules to what, how or from what I sketch or play with.
Oh, I love your idea of making an index! Thank you very much for sharing. I don't think I've ever come across that idea before, and I suspect indexing my spreads will be quite pleasing and thus motivating to my brain.
This was the first art video I have really gotten into in a long time. Most people are all about brands and product reviews and you are really neat and unique. Loved the commentary about the doves and the sounds outside your window. 😁
1:09:10 When I saw Tengwar I got so excited for no reason😂🩵✨ this was cozy, nostalgic and inspiring at the same time! Great artwork with a very characteristic style. Loved the video✨
was crocheting while I watched this hehe. I have a horrible problem of not finishing notebooks except my sketchbooks, for me it's just excepting the fact that im not always gonna create work I like but the more I try the more possible it becomes. Though I also dont have 77 sketchbooks so I guess I'll check back when I get there.
Hi, i date each sketch, on each page, and make a note of thoughts or anything relevant at bottom of each page, i have a 88page sketch book that i make at least a sketch and journal everyday, its a habit now, finally. I still have some of early sketches larger book, but wow i have developed over the years, i call my sketch book my art journal, i carry it everywhere, my other larger ones are for planned works, but these smaller ones are 110gsm, will hold a nice wash, as well, i love the now, good on you, going down memory lane brings back so many memories, lol, i wish i could draw people, life like, good on you, i really enjoy watching and sketching at the same time very inspirational, as well as great ideas thanks! I love the way you have joined sections to your pages to, something I’m going to have a go at, have you tried using tissue paper to add texture, i was quite amazed at the finish,
Wow!! This was amazing! The video really helped me to keep working on a piece that I have been postponing for the longest. Your voice has such a nich timber and all the paintings and drawings where really nice to look at my favourite were the watercolor ones there were so colorful and full of expression it makes me want to start painting with watercolor again. I'm definitely subscribing even if your other videos are not as long as this one ajaja. I really enjoyed it
Ahh thanks dear!! Happy to hear it! 💕💕💕 this one was originally for Patreon which is why it’s so long haha! But so happy I could keep you company while you worked!
Oh man, I’ve just gotta say that you’ve found some gorgeous covers to make sketchbooks with!!! I have nothing like that around here. Would love to see how you make them into a sketchbook. First video of yours I’m watching so I’ll check it out to see if you show that process in other videos.
Hi, I wanted to tell you that this is the first video I've seen of yours and I like it a lot, I loved watching your blunt art notebooks with very nice paintings and drawings, it's a very comfortable video format to watch while having a coffee, your art is very inspiring and possibly I'll watch more of your videos later C: I hope you have a nice day/night! greetings from Chile, latam ^^
I would recommend digitizing sketchbooks too. This does not mean throw out your physical sketchbooks (unless you want to cause it’s not my place to decide for others), but digitizing it as a backup, in case the physical ones get lost or damaged in unforeseen accidents. It is a lot of work though.
I just found your channel and really enjoyed this, my first video of yours! I'm just starting @60 and been working 3 different books for the past 3 years. I'm dating them TODAY! So, TFS! I also do family history and have used google to find the years on things of my ancestors that would have the day and date without the years.
I never had domestika classes! Patreon is pretty simple once you get used to it. It’s essentially like any other subscription - Netflix/etc. but you’re subscribing to artists. It’s the best way to support artists that have them!

What is not to love about this video. Lovely old messy books, filled with beautiful art, all numbered & organized!!!
I loved every minute of this, from the dove story to the church bells and Vincent being a character. Thanks for inspiring me to finally fill my own sketchbooks.

Just found your channel. This inspired me to organize some of my old journals and sketchbooks!
I diddnt realize how much work this was either! Took me like half a year to work through my sketchbooks haha felt so good once I finished though.
That's awesome! It’s SOOO nice to finish a sketchbook!

Deeply not prepared for someone else to also be from greensburg 🤣 Love your sketches!
You said that we can see all those 2020+ sketchbook tour, but they're not here? I would love to see
This was originally a Patreon video that I posted here! I have all the individual sketchbook tours over on Patreon. 💕

I absolutely loved your video!! Where do you find ur refs from nature ?( landscapes and plants etc..) is it all from irl or also pictures ?
Both!
i loveee this video
It’s nearly one a month. Wow.
Do you rebind some of your sketchbooks? Also what are your go-to sketchbook brands?
Also what’s the pencil you were using for the post it labels? It looks nice!!
It’s a Derwent Lightfast! I can’t super tell what color from here but I’m guessing Mars Black?
@@autchiu Don't worry I am now interested in trying any color >_< Thank you!!
1:40:17 yes i'm the one who is still watching and i'll probably finish the video lol
Very inspirational
Do you still have classes on Domestika, if so, what name do you use for courses? I can't seem to get how Patreon works so I avoid it!
I never had domestika classes!
