Brad is great because he's all of us. He's the everyman. What I mean by that is there's no gimmicks, or showiness or arrogance. Just a chill dude, getting better and better, playing a game he loves and hanging out with us for the ride. It's perfect for consumption and wonderful to watch him go strength to strength. Brad, keep on keeping on. You're speaking to all of us and I wish you nothing but the best

There's always a lot of discussion about running it once or twice and it just as easily could've ran out with the T on the first river and the 2 on the second one. It's always a lot more fun for the vlog if people show their cards first so everyone can sweat together like in the second all in and call, but this is a big game and I understand people not wanting to show unless they have to if they think it'll help them preserve an edge or something I guess.

@BradOwenPoker I appreciate the variance reduction side, but you should still wait to show until after they decide. Some (very few) would run it once if they thought they were ahead, but once you show... they are given a free out and you often have split the pot... that's not variance reduction but rather Brad O being too nice!!! Keep it up... great work getting back on regular postings.

Been watching you play for a couple of years now, and I think your game is getting better all the time. I'm 60 years old, and love to play, but stick to the 2-5 game, and feel I'm average at best, but I feel I've learned from watching you play. Sitting at home with covid at the moment, and really enjoyed this episode.

Serious question. Why do you let opponents choose how many times to run it when you think you’re ahead?

The poker is secondary to me. Just want to send my slightly early congrats on the soon-to-happen birth of your first child. So happy for you and I hope you take some time off to bond with your son. As a soon to be third time dad myself, those first few weeks are amazing. Again, congrats Brad! 🎉

Subscriber here getting better after every vid. I realized most of my session losses came from calling all-ins with good hands, but not the nuts. I’ve checked my ego and no longer fear getting bluffed. I play $1-3 at local casino with mostly tight retirees or maniac military young guns. I’ll call the maniacs, but not the rocks.

The set of 22s was a definite fold you put your opponent on a flush draw but still called. Go with your read. With the ak I would have bet over the pot on flop you said the guy was a really tight player. The thing is with tight players with an ace on board they will only bet if they take the lead by hitting a set. So if you put them on kings queens jacks you have to bet. Checking is fatal as it just lets them see another card.

With the pocket Q's hand, why over bet the flop when you know how vulnerable your hand is? Why not just bet 1/3 pot and see the turn cheaply. Everyone floats and these days, noone folds out flush draws on the flop and an overbet only induces a jam. You're going for a fold but 1/3 bet will get all garbage to fold while only better hands, or drawing hands call or jam your overbet.
Betting heavily to fold out draws or "make the pay for a card" is old school strategy and much less effective than in the past. Only caveat for overbetting is AFTER the turn when your ODDs are much, much improved against most all draws and your opponent is much more likely to fold a drawing hand with just one card to go.

I recon 4 and 6 can happen in the same trip... although it would have to be in July (07/07 is when the bulls thing takes place), and July is probably scorching hot in Egypt...
Some of those items are in my list too ;)
On the poker side... I'm not a player, but if I keep watching you, I might give it a go one of these days!
PS: Love the little remarks in all your episodes. Keep it up!

Hey! I was wondering did your 7-2 game have the rule that if pot is splitted everyone has to pay? I heard "if you win a hand with 7-2". Anyhow If splitted pots does not count then its +EV to just run it once on after the turn, but you appariently had the rule that split from runout is enough. Good video, thank you.

I do enjoy when you include the more common hands. When I started watching I thought, "How is every hand so interesting?". As someone who wants to eventually play more, seeing some common hands, early folds and such, really helps.

    • @BradOwenPoker
      @BradOwenPoker  7 місяців тому

Thanks man. I'm glad to hear that. Sometimes it's just too much effort to go through certain common/boring situations writing the script, recording the voiceover, editing it all together, adding in graphics, choosing music and adding that, etc. I still think it's important for viewers to see that stuff occasionally, but showing a a bet and a fold on the flop might take me an extra hour of work and it won't be that interesting/helpful to a lot of people. In this episode each pot is so big, which at least makes it a lot more palatable. Anyway, I appreciate the comment.

What's the line we should take with 79 flopping the nut straight 3way? No flush draw on board... I like the aggressive bet, but never know when it's best to let the range advantage slow us down.

I resisted the urge to pause on the bucket list. There was something about guitar in there - have you ticked that one?
Also, Cliff Josephy is not only a GOAT (I remember him from PokerStars during the early 2000's), but he's a stupendously nice guy too. I'm delighted that he's comfortable and still crushing the game.
