As a kid in the 70s, I visited an older friend who had a hope chest full of albums. I think we all smoked out, but for some reason everyone left but me and the records. Flipping through, I thought this looked cool and I put it on. I was new to heavy rock at the time, and I remember the band name kinda scared me, but I liked horror films and the album cover looked cool. Fell in love with it instantly, but I was buzzed and a little sleepy, and kind of dozed off for a second during 'Children', then woke up during the spooky outro. The hair literally stood up on my arms. I thought, 'Man, I don't know what this is - but it's for me!'
Saw Original Sabbath three times and once in '97 without Ward. The heaviest song of every show, maybe of any show l ever saw.. The place broke into all out mayhem when they played Children Of The Grave. The pits at Giant Stadium were Unreal.
I've seen them about 10 times in the 90s with Dio and Ozzy on the east coast pa. Va. Ohio. And Jersey. Columbus Ohio Ozzy didn't show up and a riot happened. Police and swat showed up. Cut the electric so the people started to burn the place. I miss those days. Peace out be safe
This is quite possibly the best heavy metal album of all time

Dude, you've got to hear "Hand of Doom" but try to find the one with "Rat Salad", Almost as good as War Pigs.
You looked worn out after that first blast of this song. It’s my favourite Sabbath track and just gets better with time.
Children of the Grave is night rider music
Sabbath stand alone.
