I thought your capturing the incredible length of some trains was really terrific. I can't recall the town name but there was a vehicle crossing before the train got to your location. Those are ballast laying cars....have electrical hopper doors that are controlled by a man walking along the train remotely operating the battery powered doorsdoors
Yes. That Section is 2.36%. Although the track is curving away at that angle and the access road which was the 1952 earthquake bypass is a little steeper as it curves around the outside of the hill. Tehachapi has heavy trains on curvy and for a large part, a single steep track that make it one of the most fascinating places around.
