Gotta say, you are an exquisite example for the mind boggling quality videos one can find on videos with a lot fewer Subs / Views than they deserve... Good video setup, interesting topics without rambling and extraordinary audio quality. Rooting for you!
Thank you so much! I think it just comes with time, I’ve been making videos on this channel since 2007! More people find the channel every day though, and I’m happy with slow and steady growth! Beats trying to chase trends and copy people! :)
The original of the River King Series started on the Famicom, then the sequel on the Super Famicom & so when they did it again for the GBC it was listed as Part 3 in the series. So Part 2 is a sequel to the 3rd installment that is why Part 3 has an earlier release date then Part 2. So play Part 3 first then Part 2 second. Thanks for the Retro Break!
In 2024 just came across another weird sequel Series in Nintendo History! Gauntlet was released backwards for the Nintendo Hand Helds! In 1991 Gauntlet 2 came out for the Game Boy. In 2005 the original Gauntlet came out for the GB Advance! The GBA release was a double game: Gauntlet & Rampart. Might have to look into this more as there might be a future video on these weird video game sequels!
It's a bit confusing but one of those games is Legend of the River King (川のぬし釣り3), which is the third game in the series but the first one for Gameboy. It was the first one to get released outside of Japan, so they dropped the numbering to avoid confusion. Gameboy also has Legend of the River King 2, which is 川のぬし釣り4 in Japan. The other one is Legend of the Sea King 2 (海のぬし釣り2), which is a spin-off series that didn't make it out of Japan. The first one was on Super Famicom, so this is the first one on Gameboy (I guess they would have dropped the number again if they localised it). Great vid as always!
Thanks for the clarification! I always thought the ones we got here were GBC games, so seeing the same one in Japan as a black and white game was even more confusing haha
I used to have the original on PC as well, it has a weird atmosphere and awkward controls but I enjoyed it! The sound effects are especially nostalgic!
I know I have a problem! I made a video about game collecting addiction a few years ago… I have got slightly better since then 😅 ua-cam.com/video/KCiMyMHF694/v-deo.html
4:27 Whats questionable about its quality? Looks fine to me. Not excellent but more than passable- enough that it looks done by a professional. Unlike that one mega man cover.. Im passionate enough about art in general, that I've off and on entertained the idea of doing a video game channel solely focused art direction- each video doing a deep dive into games w a unique art style or just a shining example of a style popular in gaming, thats inspired by an established art style (as in for example manga; not pixel). Looking into the inspiration, the artists that were relevant practitioners of the style, etc.. But i need to find someone to create it w. Someone who will motivate me. I think its a good idea. And original as far as i know. If anyones interested let me know. Or drop me a comment if you'd be into such a channel. 👍
Nintendo always manage a reference of games : dmg-a8uj-jpn and dmg-a7kj-jpn (Umi no Nushi Tsuri 2 // Kawa no Nushi Tsuri 3) and wikipedia related page (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_River_King_video_games)

Sabrewulf "a long lost ZXspectrum game"......you saying that makes me feel so, so old.
I'm always amazed by how many Gameboy games I just have never heard of! New pickups look super cool

Love to see some art with proper credits, nice video overall!
Love your game pickup videos. Thanks!🎉
Another great vid👍🏻😀. Collecting for Nintendo handhelds myself.
Those unboxing videos sound great, would make good individual shorts or longer form video if you've got 5 or more to show
With these manuals or games on the tv screen google lens is pretty crazy at translating on the fly...deffo try it
Man, I played the original Croc on PC a lot as a kid. It's not a great game but it has a weird nostalgic charm to me
