- Taking charge of the second ‘Garden of England Lunchtime Tour’ and ‘Sunset Steam Express’ circulars of the year, 70000 Britannia would make a return to Kent and Surrey, hauling the two services for Steam Dreams.
Beginning with the Kent circular, Britannia is firstly captured at South Darenth, gliding away from Farningham Road. The next shot comes from the foot crossing at Selling, as Britannia climbs the 1-in-100 grade cautiously being hot on the tale of a southeastern service. Overtaking the train while it stopped at Canterbury for water, we head to Aylesham, witnessing the train heading for Dover. Heading south, the Brit is next captured at Westenhanger, running alongside HS1, powering back up to line speed having been held by a freight train. Moving onto Hildenborough bank, we witness Britannia lifting the 13 coach train with ease up the bank, captured from Philpots Ln.
In the evening, we headed to Reigate for the Sunset circular round the Surrey hills. Having been checked by the level crossing, Britannia puts on a show for the crowd as she works hard to lift the 13 coach train into the station from cruising speed, making for a perfect end to the days filming.

Thanks!
Nice work as always Thomas :)
Thank you Brian.
Great video Thomas :)
Cheers Simon
I was meant to go on the Sunset steam express 2 weeks ago, but they happened to have cancelled it, something to do that they couldn't get the coaches on time.
The coaches are used for Saphos operations too, so could've been a mix up on when they were available.
@@themodster I gust that's true.
Excellent grabs Modster, what equipment do you use? Image/sound is fantastic 🙌
Thank you. Panasonic HC-X1500 Camcorder with a RØDE Stereo VideoMic Pro
Interesting(-ish!) that the Kent run had the black headboard and the Surrey one had the green.
Brilliant,
Thanks David
Great Shots, I assume a better performance it was?
Thanks. She certainly put on a good show
Beautiful footage Thomas as always. It's a good thing you didn't try and film her from Platform 1 at Aylesham, that would have been a disaster.
Thanks Callum. I aimed to film on the safe side at Aylesham anyway for a driver's side shot.
I was at the bridge just west of Reigate! Film to be edited tomorrow...
Was a great show there.
