I first heard Link on a very small southern radio station slipping one cold night into NYC about 1956 or '57. It was even then amazing. And for the rest of his life, everything he did was at or very near a amazing and land mark level. Why doesn't like have a star in Hollywood and a plaque on Broadway. Because if there was ever an American icon and original it was and is Link Wray.....
I just saw "Johnny Suede" last night and I can saw that this song being in it was a MAJOR contribution to why I liked the movie. Every part of this song kicks ass! Link Wray will always live on!
This is one of my favorites by Link. It captures the mood of the title perfectly. This is desolation. I wish the lead at the end didn't fade out though.
Link Wray should have been the first person inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame! INSTEAD HE IS STILL WAITING IN THE WINGS. +++++ SHAMEFUL, SIMPLY, SHAMEFUL. if he ever dose get in, as far as im concerned, to little to late!
He didn't get the nomination this year, but the RRHF has a new chairman who said one of his goals was to make more diverse classes in the future (including pioneers). Again didn't get it this year, but stay optimistic friends; for Mr. Link Wray's sake

The only person I know of who got in whose 'inductor' made HIMSELF center stage over the person being inducted. Jimmy Page is an a$$hole.
