Fantastic sequences, in particular the unloading at Foynes and the exploration of the rail network in the port! I was also lucky enough to have a cab pass for Foynes but didn't have a video camera at the time, but had an SLR at least. Keep up the good work!
Used to put pennys on the line there at rathbane field there with the stream was with my grandad for years. Only once in all the years there did i see a foynes train. Cement trains maybe 3 or 4 every two hours
Brilliant!! Thanks for letting me know! Really love these videos, none of it seems that long ago! I especially love the videos of being out the window of the comfortable commodious Park Royals. I just loved doing that as a kid. Pity so-called health and safety has put an end to our healthy enjoyment. I loved listening to the CLANK-CLANK-clank-clank of the wheels whilst blasting along then meeting a train coming the other way!
Made the same trip in 1989. Up to Silvermines early in the morning, down to Foynes and back to Limerick. Great day out

I always wondered why the foynes line had 001 s only and the cement line had 141 s only. Never saw a 001 on the cement line and vice versa
Great footage with sound. What happened to that line??
Being remade and opening 2025
