Vietnamese spring rolls actually are not influenced by Chinese cuisine, it's originated entirely from Vietnam, because rice paper is traditional Vietnamese cuisine and we had practiced wrapping food with rice paper since thousand years ago. China has eggrolls and dumplings, which was the precursor of Korean mandu and Japanese gyoza, but some people mistakenly thought it also related to Vietnamese spring rolls, but they are not related. Vietnam does have some food that were brought in by Chinese immigrants, such as meat buns (bánh bao), popiah (bò bía mặn), tofu custard (tào phớ), etc.
I enjoy the video clip, thank you. But yeah, nobody knows for sure about the origin of the Vietnamese Chả Giò (or nem rán, as they're called in northern VN). The history of China and Vietnam entertwine so much over thousands of years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%E1%BB%93ng_B%C3%A0ng_dynasty One story has it that the founding father of Viet Nam was originally from China; he traveled to the Hunan region of China and met his lifetime match. His father was, supposedly, a great king more than 5 thousand years ago. Cheers and have fun, guys. John en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shennong
Hmm.. They have very similar rice paper based roll across the border in both Guangxi and Yunnan provinces. Anyway, in ancient history, years ago, the Bai Yue people (100 tribes of Yue ) moved around today's southern China and 1 or a few of the tribes predominantly settled in what is now called Vietnam (Nan Yue or Nam Viet). So hard to pinpoint the exact origin within that large geography. And of course, today's Vietnamese summer rolls have changed over the centuries.

Hello Marola and Ali. Charlie from Boston here. I felt compelled to reach out with a positive comment. I was in Hanoi Vietnam, and then far to the north in Sapa in November and December. I was also in Halong Bay. I am a coffee drinker from Boston mass USA. The coffee in Vietnam is spectacular. All of it. I just wish I could prepare it at my home as good. 🤦♂️. I went to Little Italy in Boston of course when I returned because I missed the food. I was in Mexico most of the year so I wanted some Italian food. I had the cappuccino in Boston. I gotta tell you it’s not Italy, but Vietnam is better. 😊. I will get back to your video. I am only eight minutes and I had to agree. I subscribed. I will be back next month for the winter. I will start in Hanoi because I have friends there now .I will make my way down to Danang but I will travel along the coast and I understand there are many beautiful beach destinations on the way I love Vietnam and I think the people are even better than the coffee. Hi,@@marola_ali,It's great to watch your videos and happy about your positive experiences in Vietnam. And if you want to stay in Vietnam longer, There is a very simple way when in Da Nang or Hue is to go through the border gate to visit Laos and come back and you will have a visa for the next 30 days. (can come back the same day or as long as you like). And if you move to the south of Vietnam, you can also go through the border gate with Cambodia to have more time if you want to explore other regions of Vietnam.I wish you the best!!
Hi Marola & Ali Thank you for let everyone know about your first impression in VN, yes it's very cool there , I, from Australia, subscribed your channel right away but one think you're not right: The Spring roll is really traditional Vietnamese food and not come from China, Spring roll from VN has been covered by RICE PAPER ( a unique and traditional Vietnamese food) with prawn and pork mince, carrot...It's totally different with chinese roll been covered by thick wrap of wheat flour
Enjoy your video. Your statement about coffee is in my opinion absolutely correct. In matter of fact, I would argue that Vietnamese coffee is the best in the world!

It really is great coffee. So we both really enjoyed pho and mi Quang. The noodles in general are amazing. And we actually went to this restaurant that we mentioned every single day. They served amazing food. They had vegan versions of a lot of meals that we liked. Like vegan banh mi- adapted to different sandwiches. They were great. Also the vegan Philly cheesesteak.
I don't know where you get the Pho but in Vietnam Pho that has carrot in it people called Hu Tieu not Pho. So in Da Nang you can't find authentic Pho place. Pho is originated from Ha Noi northern part of Vietnam then it is migrated down to south and then adjusted to southern people taste which add ton of sugars in it.
Interesting! I haven't heard of Hu Tieu before. We had Pho at different places. "Loving Vegan" was the first place. Our favorite restaurant! We did have Mi Quang as well!

Saigon is mijn hometown, maar ik kom heel erg graag naar Danang / Hoi An. Het eten is goed en de mensen zijn super vriendelijk. Veel plezier in Vietnam en be safe!
For sure worth a thing is cheap living cost there. There was a problem like you said that limited Visa 30 days but this year Vietnam has changed the rule to extend period stay in 60-90 days once.
Doesn't Vietnam have a 90 day visa now? Pretty sure you can stay for 90 days before having to move on. If you do come back, head north. It's beautiful up there. Do Phong Nha if you enjoy caves (watch "Adventures of A+K" who made a video on it). Also, Ninh Binh is very popular with tourists. And as far as big cities in SE Asia, many vloggers love Hanoi. But make sure to do a food tour or two if you're limited to what you can eat or don't know how to eat something (they have vegetarian food tours).
Hi ! 😅 thanks for visiting South Vietnam. Hope you guys have an interesting trip 😄😄😄 North VN and South Vn are complete different ! 😄 I would love to see more videos !
You went to the beach in the rainy and cold seasons, you should go there in the summer, many people rate it as Asia's number 1 city beach like Miami or Australia's Gold Coast
It reminded us of those places too! We haven’t been to Miami though. I just loved the beach side, going on a run and seeing dozens of other runners was amazing

Very good question! Tropical beaches with Turquoise waters and spicy food: Thailand wins. Delicious coffee, food, and living for the most affordable prices in the region: Vietnam wins. Thailand can make living and travelling extremely convenient for travellers/ nomads, Vietnam seems to offer a lot of authenticity that can be explored. It is so hard to answer this question, we loved living in both countries, and even with spending several weeks everywhere we barely scraped the surface of what they have to offer. But luckily, we don't have to choose between the two! :D

Our favorite restaurant was “loving vegan”. It’s also the first one in the video. We actually went there basically every day. Even if you’re not vegan I would give the place a chance. I was shocked by how good the food was. I loved all the vegan interpretations of different dishes such as the banh mi and Philly cheesesteak. Pho, Bibimbap, and so much more :D if you decide to visit please say hi from us haha
Pho in Danang city is not enough tasty compare to Hochiminh city or Hanoi city. Danang is good at landscape and people friendly. You should try Banh Mi in Danang city
How do you get to travel without work and money? Did you save and living off this? Can do it for sure in Vietnam, very cheap. Btw, when eating the soups like pho in Vietnam and that provide you with basil and other mints. You don’t just put them in your bowl, use your hands to break them up and then put in bowl!
Thank you for the advice, we’ll try it next time! As for the money part, we work remotely and keep a track of our budget most of the year and try to spend our winters somewhere warm.

I lived in koh phangan 3 months…love that island… vietnam is amazing. Like your video. Ps. Love that motobike. Can you tell me the name of the restaurant by the end of video ?
Thank you for watching 😁
I think that restaurant was called Ẩm Thực Chay Đại Bình
Veel plezier in Vietnam en be safe!
For sure worth a thing is cheap living cost there. There was a problem like you said that limited Visa 30 days but this year Vietnam has changed the rule to extend period stay in 60-90 days once.
Love Da Nang. We are going to Nha Trang next month. Woohoo!
Really cool! We also thought about going there but we’ve decided for Da Nang this trip! Curious how you’ll like it!
We just spent 3 weeks in Vietnam and we loved it! (especially the food😍😍😍)
The timing lol! I’m visiting my cousin from Da Nang in a week!
Been Danang for a year, I love this video
Glad you liked our tribute to Da Nang.
Chúc bạn vui vẻ
Verygood.ok❤
Excellent fun video. Well done guys, enjoy your life.
Thank you so much! You too!
Great relaxing and informative video.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Doesn't Vietnam have a 90 day visa now? Pretty sure you can stay for 90 days before having to move on. If you do come back, head north. It's beautiful up there. Do Phong Nha if you enjoy caves (watch "Adventures of A+K" who made a video on it). Also, Ninh Binh is very popular with tourists. And as far as big cities in SE Asia, many vloggers love Hanoi. But make sure to do a food tour or two if you're limited to what you can eat or don't know how to eat something (they have vegetarian food tours).
welcome to Vietnam my friends, hope you guys have a nice trip 🙆♂🙆♂
Well , from dang nang to hoi an just haft an hour that the good place to visit , big big surprise!
we planned to go there, but sadly got sick so we couldn’t go
Marolas voice is great!! love to hear it 😁

North VN and South Vn are complete different ! 😄
I would love to see more videos !
you Should try avocado coffee as well in Da Nang 🥑☕️
wellcome to việt nam , hope you guys have a lot of subcriber 😘
thank you very much for the support ♥️
You went to the beach in the rainy and cold seasons, you should go there in the summer, many people rate it as Asia's number 1 city beach like Miami or Australia's Gold Coast
It reminded us of those places too! We haven’t been to Miami though. I just loved the beach side, going on a run and seeing dozens of other runners was amazing
Ali Where do you get your shirts from ? 🔥🔥🔥
Hey, so a couple (the ones with the mushrooms) I got at H&M.
Some others (the one from the Thumbnail and with the Roses) I got at my Barber in Koh Phangan (Chuenjai barber)
Thank you for watching :D
If you should choose long term living between Thailand or Vietnam, which one you prefer?
Very good question!
Tropical beaches with Turquoise waters and spicy food: Thailand wins. Delicious coffee, food, and living for the most affordable prices in the region: Vietnam wins. Thailand can make living and travelling extremely convenient for travellers/ nomads, Vietnam seems to offer a lot of authenticity that can be explored.
It is so hard to answer this question, we loved living in both countries, and even with spending several weeks everywhere we barely scraped the surface of what they have to offer.
But luckily, we don't have to choose between the two! :D
Ali and his crocs.. a better love story then twilight :D
But it´s good to see you guys enjoying yourselves.
Hahaha thank you 🫶🏽
Are you sure your coconut coffee drinks weren’t just the run of the milk Cafe sua da made with condensed milk?
We had a few different ones! But we definitely had some with coconut milk and crushed ice!
Nice job. Thanks!
""Da Nang city is really liveable city""...agree...
what was the name of the first pho place you went to ? or any other you recommend>
We’ve had some banh Mis. They were great! We definitely have to visit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
I like lean english from this Chanel 🎉❤🎉❤🎉. Thanks
you’re very welcome. Thank you for watching 😊
Agree with the coffee statement but Da Nang street crossing is the tutorial…the challenge is in Saigon known as Ho Chi Minh City.
Haha we have to try it out
totally agree. Vietnamese coffee is more flavorful than Italian coffee. been to both countries
If you want some wild experience go for Ha Giang loop tour but you need a good driving skill (my best suggestion from a North side people) 😊😊
We should check that out! Thanks. I like to think I’m an okay driver, but I just like to go slow :D
Have a good time in v.n Trip
Thank you 😊
super cup :)) so cool
Haha we thought so too. I was so sad when we had to leave it.
😂 love yours personality 😂 funny people
Đến Việt Nam bạn ăn thử Bánh Mì Phượng, Bánh Mì Madam Khánh ( Hội An ), Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa, Bánh Mì Chảo, bánh Xèo, Bò Lúc Lắc, Chả Cá Thăng Long ( Hà Nội ), Bún Cá, Bún Riêu Cua, Bún Ốc, Nộm Bò Khô, Xôi Ngô, Xôi Xéo, Bánh Cuốn, Bánh Gai, Bánh Pía. những món này dễ ăn 😊
Thank you for the great tips. ☺ Now I want to go back...
@@marola_ali Wish you have beautiful memories while in Vietnam 😊
Love your video. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😊
tôi chỉ xem 1 đoạn ngắn đầu tiên .tôi thấy các bạn rất đáng yêu và các bạn rất đẹp ,yêu đời chúc các bạn hạnh phúc -một người VN
@@marola_alicool. What kind of job like IT? Anyway, must see more of Vietnam from top to bottom. You’re both living many peoples dreams. ❤
@@drissaudia1323 yes we want to see much more! We’re also very happy we can do this. We have been working toward this for a long time :) And yes, we‘re both in the education tech sector. Ali is a Software Engineer and Marola is working on the creative side. If more people are curious we can talk about it more in a later video :D
what area do you suggest to stay ?
I think highly recommended places are My An and My Khe - we stayed in the latter and really enjoyed our time.
Welcome to vietnam. Da Nang is the right choice. people there is nice
I have subscribed to your channel, the videos are very fresh and fun, the food is delicious and the scenery is wonderful. I'm traveling with your videos
Thank you so much ❤️ yes Vietnam is great. We are very happy we’ve visited.
