  • Let's dive into the world of small, portable, self-contained Eurorack Systems. This series will walk through designing, building and programming small systems. We'll see multiple patches on the same small system and walk through how and why they work. Then we'll try swapping out some modules for new ones and see how much functionality we can cram into 40HP!

I am planning one around the power lunch (powered stock), which is basically 4 pedals with one of them connected to a small keyboard since I planned it with guitar in mind. The other 2 effects units will probably go toward other guitar or whatever else I connect a piezo to

This was actually very useful on my modular journey because I have a big case and a small one!

Nice video. I love the direct descriptions because it doesn't waste time 😂
Looking forward to the next one!

there definitely is large modulars in that group. I've always felt 2 x 84hp, classic doepfer case, is the largest a small system could be. It does depend on the modules used. Like, no 1u at that size, and preferably using larger hp modules or sequencers/non sound producing modules.

Gonna skip over the disting till the end. You'll see why.
LoL. What, you didn’t feel like making it 6 hours longer?
Great ideas, and well put together vid.

Small format modular systems are totally worth the hours of search, research and waiting! They’re easy to own, portable and offer still interesting solutions to bland, prebuilt synths.
I have a PulpLogic “Zissou” case [56 hp] that took me 7 years to fill.
It has a FH-2, a Loquelic Iteritas, 2 Disting mk4s, a uPlaits, 2 Synrotek 4hp envelopes, PulpLogic 1u vactrol VCAs (3), mults, mixers, an LFO and even a Meng-Qi passive LPG.
I use Ableton to sequence it, but the FH-2 can take any USB midi controller and even can do sequencing.
And it has a LID! 😉

@@father_moo Lids are a good thing.
I’m a messy old guy, but my costly modular gear is still quite clean… BECAUSE LIDS!

1:19 those systems are really tiny in comparison to a full blown GAS wall of modules…

Using an external sequencer seems like sort of a cheat 🙂
I like Chipz--it packs a lot of function into it's size. The one LFO out runs at 1/4 the speed of the other. I find it really useful in the random mode, especially since it has its own VCA.

There is a really neat feature called chapters where you can... Wait for it... SKIP parts of the video you don't want to watch. hope this helps
