Maybe they were dirty cheap because they are last years date on them or something. So maybe the price seemed normal for one tub. Plus prices be going crazy in general right now, so who knows what things cost? Things can be 50% more than they were just last year.
I buy from an expired or near expiry date food store online sometimes.. and you can get unexpected amounts of things there for dirt cheap. When it's buried under all the other dirt cheap things and you see how much you'd end up saving, you hardly care of the little details. I once thought I was paying for two bags of chips and got eight
You can see how much is little girl loves Marmite... This is really good. But Dad isn't so thrilled it's just too much fun. Thank you for cheering me up.
Happy New Year Mr and Mrs B!!! We don't have Twiglets here in the US, that I know of. The closest thing I can think of for that Marmite "stain" would be the cheese dust from crunchy Cheetos. All over your fingertips...
Well congratulations on avoiding the very obvious comparison of what that « loglet » really looked like 😂 💩 Happy New Year 🎊 🎉 and Best Wishes to You, Mrs. B, Phoebe & Chloe & of course Boston.
I bloody love Twiglets. I'm a freight train driver and they're my go to snack while I'm driving. Although I do have to carry wipes with me because of the finger dust issue! The following drivers don't appreciate it all over the controls. Happy New Year to you and the family Barry, enjoy your well earned break - looking forward to 2024's content!
You actually can't buy Marmite in several countries, as it's been banned for sale or import for a variety of reasons. But if you're in one of those countries, you can make your own. There are plenty of recipes you can find online. Most of them involve just letting some yeast feed on some bread and sugar for a few days, then boiling it down into a paste.
I find Twiglets are a love or hate thing! I absolutely love them over any other crips/savoury biscuit I have just as many tubs strewn around the house I've been collecting when I see them in store over Xmas! I find they taste like burnt barbecue bits - so I imagine the twiglet fried chicken definitely would have that taste!
my wife over buys on Vol-au-Vents cases, she over buys every year and i use em as i usally do as we also get cheese as gifts and we always have a large selection of cheeses on the cheese board, i like cheese and i dont waste it, so i shredded the cheese up and mixed some and filled the cases, some plain cheddar with mayo and so on lightly baked in the oven... they make for a good game too as i cover some of the stroing cheese with mayo and get the kids to try them and see who gerts the smelly or the strong tasty cheese...
Everytime I hear or see a twiglet I think of Mr. Bean and his New Years Party with the twiglets. Is it just me? And also the twiglet coffee idea made me think of what we do with marmite. My mother and grandmother would put a teaspoon of marmite in a cup of boiling water and drink it like a soup. We would get it to drink when we had a tummy bug to help build up our electrolytes. Sounds strange but tastes good. 😅
One thing that makes me mad is I *LOOOOOVVVVEEEEE* crunchy textures! Crunchy textures are my most favourite thing! Like honeycomb, and then a slight joint to that is snappy textures, like thin tempered chocolate? I absolutely love it! So texture wise, Twiglets are my thing, they are so crunchy and I should love them! But I don't! I can't even eat one, I absolutely cannot stand the flavour, every few years I'll see if I can tolerate it for the texture, and every time I have no idea how anyone eats them, I have to spit it out! I would pay them to do different flavours so I could enjoy the texture!
Absolutely with you on this. Twiglets have a great texture and are perfect nibbly snacks but they taste vile 😂! I have more of a sweet tooth, a similar texture for me would be Pocky, or Pepero (specifically the Oreo ones). Give them a Google if you haven’t heard of them before. Pretty easy to find in shops!!
@@jasminappleby779 I *LOVE* Pocky! I just can never find them here much! Especially as my favourite is the strawberry one but I can only buy them on Amazon and such it seems! Pocky are amazing! But I am glad you feel my pain of them being ideal but inedible haha
12:20 i like how Mrs. B went along with you for a second for the sake of the video, then realised you just might be crazy enough to actually follow through on it and she had to put an end to that idea immediately xD "Yeah".... "No..."
When it comes to the finger staining, Twiglets have the worst looking it seems, looks like there was a bit of a "toilet roll incident" (if you know.......) and someone forgot to wash their hands... :P
When I saw all your Twiglets I thought you had all your Christmas shopping done for next year. I'm wishing you and your family the best New Year you've ever had. I have a feeling 2024 will be very very exciting. Enjoy your two weeks off.

This might sound whacky but stick with me...blitzed Twiglets as a cheesecake base? 🤔 I love Marmite, but I have recently switched to Sainsbury's own yeast extract which is every bit as nice - and cheaper! 😊
For the Twiglet coffee, instead of just dissolving it in water, you could make a cup of regular coffee and dust it over the top. Or cappuccino, it might hold better on the milk foam. Coarsely crushed Twiglet over some pie or casserole dish (like you'd do with breadcrumbs) might also be interesting.

Just saying you should be sure to tell people not to eat raw flour. I know you did a video on edible cookie dough so you know it's a raw product that's not safe to eat without cooking but you didn't mention if you had cooked it before sprinkling on your prepared giant twiglet. For anyone who's wondering almost all flour is grain from a field that gets crushed. That's the process. No cooking. There's all kinds of stuff in there you don't want to eat. You're expected to use it in a cooked product because it's otherwise gross. Heat can kill off the bad bacteria.
I used to think it was egg that made your tummy bad when eating raw dough, but yes, it's the flour. I still eat cake batter and cookie dough though, I like the flavour of raw dough haha
@@Inexpressable US eggs are actually less safe than most developed countries - poor conditions and they're washed so much that a protective layer is removed which would otherwise keep a lot of bad stuff from being able to permeate the shells. Even so they're still safer raw than raw flour. Not sure which side of the pond you're on but something to consider.
When I was unwell as a child, my Mum used to cube up some cheese, put them in a cup with a teaspoon of marmite and pour boiling water over it. Give it a good stir to melt the marmite and agitate the cheese. It was delicious, the cheese goes all gooey and if you love marmite, your're in heaven! You drink it, bit like a beef tea I guess, obviously have a spoon for all the gooey cheese. Love your videos Barry, they're brilliant.
Happy New Year to you Barry and the family. I shall refrain from saying what the giant twiglet looked like (to me anyway, but as I currently have kidneystones the size of small asteroids everything regarding food just looks wrong 😂). I do agree with other comments though, savoury cheesecake or quiche /flan base would probably be excellent with the right filling/topping.
My first that was breading. I've used cornflakes as breading before, and it's great. Can only imagine how Twiglets would do. Some crispiness, but also the umami tang.

At around 9 minutes in, when you said "looks like a potato", I immediately wondered how you could use it with potatoes.
