Baddies comments made me irrationally angry. Like we’re entitled to our own opinions but god damn it only a mentally unstable crazy person doesn’t like metal gear and resident evil/horror in general.
I like Metal Gear but I can admit the writing isn't very good aside from the first. Kojima has interesting ideas but isn't a good writer. He needs someone to help him filter his ideas into something coherent. Death Stranding is interesting and well designed in a bunch of ways but Kojima throws so much at the wall at once that he shoots the story in the foot. MGS4 is just bad as a game since so much of it is cutscenes. He's just wrong about Resident Evil though.

Tbh, I used to not like RE or MG until I listened to people talk about those games and how they celebrate it. Sometimes the way a fanbase loves their franchises is enough to get me curious to see a piece of media through a perspective of appreciation. Life is short, I'd rather spend my time celebrating wonderful things with people than choosing to never experience them at all.
I loved metal gear till they replaced David Hader with Mr.Sutherland in the phantom pain. Think he did a good voice job, but Mr. Hader had done every single metal gear till phantom pain. That's like replacing Optimus prime.

I'm not even sure how one can declare only one RE game good when most of the RE games come in 2/3 of the same style and general plot. Like, 1/2/3, 4/5/6, 7/8, Mercs, etc. Unless you liked 7 and hated 8 which I mean I can understand, but still, it's really weird to like 1 enough to call good and then not like the rest. MGS I can understand someone liking 1 and thinking it went a bit too wacky after that, but usually people concede 3 is also good for being (mostly) grounded, unless you're saying MGRR is good, it is, but that's a real outlier.

There has only been 1 resident evil that was any good, same for metal gear.
