first of all, in what instance did the lyrics imply that she had to be built up too? it's completely possible for someone to feel healthy enough to not need to have to build with their s/o and it's completely possible for a person to bring their s/o out of a bad spot. Idk where the hell you got the idea of competition from bc it sure as hell wasn't found in the lyrics. and lastly, the lyrics don't imply that the person 'failed' to keep him, the lyrics imply that the person willingly left; this doesn't mean that it was a sour breakup at all, it just means they've split. Now, by the end of that relationship, they've gotten 'all the bad out his system' and he's fresh to begin a new healthy relationship thanks to his ex aiding him. Understand now?
