- The song "Lady in Red" was written in reference to (though not specifically about) Chris De Burgh's first wife, Diane, and was released on the album "Into the Light", reaching number one in the UK Singles Chart in July 1986, and peaking on the Billboard pop chart at number three in May 1987. On the British TV series "This Is Your Life", De Burgh said that the song was inspired by the memory of when he first saw Diane, and how men so often cannot even remember what their wives were wearing when they first met.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Aishwarya Rai): born 1 November 1973) is an Indian actress and former Miss World. Before starting her acting career, she worked as a model and gained fame after winning the Miss World title in 1994. During her career, Rai has acted in over forty movies in Hindi, English, Tamil and Bengali. She is sometimes known simply as "Ash" or "Aish".
Often cited by the media as the most beautiful woman in the world, Rai made her movie debut in Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Iruvar (1997) and had her first commercial success in the Tamil movie Jeans (1998). She came to the attention of Bollywood in the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Her performance in the film won her the Filmfare Best Actress Award. In 2002 she appeared in Bhansali's next project, Devdas (2002), for which she won her second Filmfare Best Actress Award.
After a low phase in her career during 2003--2005, she appeared in the blockbuster Dhoom 2 (2006), which turned out to be her biggest Bollywood commercial success. She later appeared in films like Guru (2007) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008), which were commercially successful and gained her critical acclaim. Rai has thus established herself as one of the leading contemporary actresses in the Indian film industry.
She was married April 20, 2007 and is now Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
This song brought back memories Maureen and made me cry. It was "our song"... my husband and mine. He always thought I looked great in red and I remember dancing with him to it many times. He is with me now only in memories of wonderful times with him and beautiful songs like this. Thanks Maureen!
Reminds me of a winter night had got a dress made from Mom's wedding saree perhaps 1989 we were coming back from a party when Joy my brother who is no more said, sis you've got to hear this song. and he put this cassette in the car player. thanks for posting this made me think of that night.
